John 3:16 FBC FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, HARRISON FEBRUARY, 2015 VOL. 60 NO. 2 Dr. Bobby Welch will be our Special Guest, Sunday, February 8 in the morning worship service Dr. Welch is the Creator of F.A.I.T.H. evangelism strategy; former President of the SBC; and is current associative executive director of the Tennessee Baptist Convention. Dr. Welch loves to share the Gospel. Evangelism and the faith strategy of learning how to share the Gospel and how to teach others to do it, is a major topic in many of the books he has written. I have an affinity and affection for II Timothy 2:2, he says, where it says to hand off to other people of faith what you ve learned, with the understanding that they re going to hand it off to others. That is the multiplication factor in living out our life in Christ. It s not enough just for each one to win one. We each need to win a ton now, because of the population explosion. And the only way to do that is to be deliberate and conscientious in multiplying your life in others, who would turn around and multiply their life in others. Dr. Welch says that believers should set out to trust the Lord in everything. Make Him lord over your life, make Him controller over your life, and set out to live that life. That s exactly what happened to my life. The Gospel and how to know Jesus is very, very simple Trust in the Lord in childlike faith. F is for FORGIVENESS...We cannot have eternal life and heaven without God s forgiveness A is for AVAILABLE...Forgiveness is available for all, but forgiveness is not automatic I is for IMPOSSIBLE...It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven because GOD is LOVE & JUST T is for TURN...from everything sinful, turn means repent, turn to someone; trust Christ only H is for HEAVEN...Heaven is eternal life. There is two parts to Heaven HERE and HEREAFTER F.A.I.T.H. Forsaking All I Trust Him. And Him is Jesus. DON T MISS DR. BOBBY WELCH

2 THE.ROB.BLOG Here s a great question: Why not? If we want stuff to change, be different, or be better it s a nice internal monologue starter. Notice that I didn t say internal dialogue starter. That would hint to another topic. Anyway, here are a few why nots. Why not get ready for SUNDAY worship on SATURDAY night? You know, lay out your clothes and the kids uh, the kids clothes. Find your Bible and put it and your car keys on the kitchen counter. Pray with your family about the next day and pray for the Sunday School teachers, pastors, musicians, tech crew. See where I m going with this? Why not come Sunday expecting God to speak to YOU? Could be that the next song holds a word for you. Could be that it is found in the main Bible passage from the sermon. Maybe it s in a testimony given by a fellow believer. You have to be expecting it or you just might miss it. Why not spread the joy next Sunday? Expecting something from meeting God? Then, tell someone about it. Your excitement may just be contagious. Speak a good word to someone with a big smile. Make them glad that they came if for no other reason than YOU. Why not give a little extra this Sunday? Are you teaching your kids about tithing about the importance of financially supporting the local church YOUR local church? Yes, Virginia, there is a life beyond yourself. (Apologies to Francis Church) Why not be here Sunday? Between Monday and Sunday there will be many reasons (excuses) for not showing up. Satan is pleased when you choose to lay out. You miss the opportunity to be blessed or to be a blessing. Wonder (out loud if you need to) why this obstacle has been placed before you. Then, decide to overcome it. You are part of the dynamic here. It s not the same without you. Your questioning pastor! 3 What s happening in FBCH Student Ministry? The month of February for our student ministry is going to have a focus and theme called One Meal. One Day. Throughout the month we will be learning about how the Gospel impacts poverty and those less fortunate. The month will end with a personal challenge for each student to take. The challenge will be to skip one meal on one designated day and by doing that possibly be able to change lives of others that are less fortunate. This is a program that is supported and promoted by the Compassion International organization. Other important dates: Possible Valentine s Day Progressive Dinner on Saturday, February 14 th Spring Break Ski Trip forms and $50 deposit due by February 15 th (contact Ryan with questions) Disciple Now Weekend coming March 13-15, info and cost coming soon! ROC Ministry Substitute Volunteers Needed Contact Ryan if interested Interested in a Men s Discipleship Group? led by Pastor Rob?? Beginning soon Pastor Rob will be hosting this study in his home at 6:20 on Tuesday mornings. The group is limited to 7 men. Cost of $35 includes breakfast and books. Sign up at the ministries desk or call the church office! Fresh Start University Our 2015 Spring Discipleship Ministry has gotten off to a good start. Each of our classes have been going well! And in just a few weeks the Names of God and Forever Yours classes will end and we will start two new classes. If our schedule goes as planned, on March 8th we will start: It Starts At Home A Study on Parenting by Matt Chandler Twisting the Truth Bible Study by Andy Stanley Start praying now about which class you will attend. On February 1st, Sunday evening, we are encouraging each of our Adult Classes to plan a Fellowship at a location of your choosing. This will be a time set aside just for you to come together with church friends and family. We will not be having any activities here at the church on that Sunday evening and there will be no childcare available at the church.
