The prophecies, the star, the manger, the kings, the miracles and the teachings were all preamble to a bloodstained cross and an empty tomb. God s master plan, accomplished through the work of His only Son unfolded in ways that are incomprehensible. How do you imagine the unthinkable? We celebrate this ancient story that changes lives today. This is the story of our redemption offered at such great cost. This is the story of the resurrection of Jesus! Now, the cry of our hearts is to worship, You, Lord! For Thine is the KINGDOM, and the POWER, and the GLORY forever! REVIVAL with Evangelist Thomas Hammond April :30 p.m. Nightly Evangelist Hammond serves as Pastor of First Baptist Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. He has previously served as Vice President of Convention Advancement for the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, and has also served as Director of Church Evangelism at the North American Mission Board. 2 THE.ROB.BLOG I take notice of St. Patrick s Day. Well, for one reason Cracker Barrel serves up some great corned beef and cabbage. Another reason is that I m Irish. Didn t know that about me? Yep, I m Irish by marriage. I married into an Irish Catholic family. (In reality, Jonesy married into a redneck Baptist family but that doesn t help make the point here.) Plus, who doesn t like St. Paddy s Day parades?? And, did I mention the corned beef? I also take notice of Pat s first name: Saint. We sometimes get a bit confused about saints. One way to get that moniker is to have a religious body designate you as such. We mostly use the word as we describe somebody who has acted nobly or sacrificially. Perhaps, someone is known for putting up with a difficult situation (or spouse). That person might show up in our conversation with saint used as an adjective for him or her. St. Patrick had an interesting life. Let me give you the short version. In his work, Declarations, he describes how as a boy he was kidnapped and taken to Ireland where he was a slave. During that time he found God, escaped, became a priest, returned to Ireland as an evangelist, converted thousands, died on March 17, and now has a day in his honor where corned beef and cabbage is served. The leaders determined that his work deserved the title saint. Alas, I don t have a St. Rob day but I do have the title. I didn t do anything special to earn it or even bring attention to myself. It was bestowed on me IN SPITE of my actions not because of them. The word means holy ones of God and it used several times in the New Testament. It always refers to those who have believed in Jesus Christ. It refers to the church of which I am a part and to you if you did what I did. So, what did I do?? I simply realized I was a sinner. (Not a stretch there.) I understood that my sin kept me from the God who created me and that I needed a savior. I accepted what Jesus did for me on the cross and from the grave. I placed my trust in Him to save me. AND if you ve never done this you can do the exact same thing right now! There is no better time than right now! Just tell God what you see and what you need and what you want. He s VERY available right now. (Notice the theme here??) So, dear people, let us rejoice in our sainthood! There is one difference here. St. Patrick is designated to be a saint IN heaven. We have the designation here on earth. You know what that means???? Here it is: Everyday is our day! Don t wait to celebrate. God isn t. (Oh, and go get some of that corned beef and cabbage!) Your celebrating pastor, St. Rob New Pastors Sunday School Class We are excited to announce that on Easter Sunday, April 5, we will be starting a brand new Sunday School class called the Pastors Class! This class will be meeting in Room 203 (the Old Fellowship Hall ). Bro Rob, Ryan and Lance will be teaching/facilitating the class on a rotating basis. We will be using a video series studying books from the New Testament that the Apostle Paul wrote starting with the book of Ephesians. We want to Invite anyone who is not attending an adult Sunday School class at this time. There are no age requirements. If you are single or married or somewhere in between, you are welcome to attend. Come check us out on Easter Sunday at 8:50 AM. 3 What s happening in FBCH Student Ministry? March seemed like it was a very busy month with a lot of things going on, in the midst of starting the month with some crazy winter weather. The #HowToLife Youth Rally event on March 11 th went off very well. This student led rally was a great success for the student leadership involved and for all the churches in the surrounding area that participated. There were over 725 people that attended the rally and around 75 decisions for Christ were made that night. The event had student led worship, dramas, videos, and panel discussions talking about how to live out your faith as a Christian teenager. I am excited to see this student led movement continue on in the many weeks and months to come. Keep praying and supporting these young students and their hearts to serve Christ. Disciple Now Weekend was March at Freeman Heights in Berryville. This was a great event as well for our teenagers. They were encouraged throughout the weekend to be unleashed in living out their faith. The Spring Break Ski Trip was a blast as we took 17 students out to New Mexico for a great time. This trip was great to just chill and build relationships, but we were also able to grow in fellowship with the Lord. April looks like a much slower month as far as big events go. The only one planned is a small overnight youth retreat at Rock Haven Bible Camp on April This retreat will be minimal cost, if not free! Also starting in April we will begin a Wednesday night series called You Asked for It, talking about topics and passages that students want to know most about with regards to what exactly the Bible has to say. ROC Ministry Volunteers Needed!!! Tuesdays 4:00-6:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm (every other week) Fridays 2:00-4:00pm PLEASE HELP! SENIOR ADULTS We will not have our Luncheon on April 21st. Please join us each night of the REVIVAL for exciting music and message. FBC Children s Choir will present I Am a Friend of God and a Faithful Friend Forever! Sunday, April 12th 10:00 a.m. worship service Join the Children s Choir as they share a timely message against bullying, highlighting the power of our words and the treasure of faithful friends. The musical opens with a graduation ceremony. As one of the graduates gives her speech, she takes us back to a time where she wasn t always so friendly. The drama team re-enacts some situations during their school years when they didn t always Taste Their Words or choose to Think before they spoke to others. The musical ends with the conclusion of the graduation ceremony. The graduates come to realize that their words and actions can hurt the people around them and that faithful friends are essential in their life. Come worship with us as our children bring a powerful message on what it means to be a Godly friend.

Jesus Christ, Son of God, was condemned mocked, flogged, crucified, and died on a rugged cross for our sins and to bridge the gap between us and God. They buried Him in a borrowed tomb, but on the third day He AROSE from the grave. He LIVES and is seated at the right hand of God His Father. The Tomb is empty! That s why we celebrate EASTER and Jesus resurrection. It means life eternal to all those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior into their hearts and lives. Won t you join us at our Easter Sunday morning worship service on April 5th, as we lift our praises to the ONE who Loves us so much, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Worship Service for the Developmentally Challenged FBCH members Mick and Martha Rose feel called to this ministry which will begin Sunday, April 12. Would you pray about joining them for this incredible offering to our community? It will take place in Room 100 using the entrance under the Cross and have the same schedule as our morning bridge worship service. Here are some volunteer needs: Greeters for the beginning of each service. A person to lead choruses/music using tracks. People to serve during the entire time as helpers on a rotating basis. There are some amazing activities planned for the kids this year Mystic Caverns, Dickerson Park Zoo, Fly Away Paintings, Archery Day and much, much, more. We are now accepting applications for CAMP COUNSELORS to join in helping with our summer program.
