And that led to something I really wasn t expecting JOY! Church Conference prep (paperwork) is my least favorite thing to do as a pastor. And through it I found HOPE and JOY?!?!?! Yes! Because of you! It s been such a hard year for us financially and our financial difficulties are where my brain has been spending much of its time over the past many months. But in prepping for Church Conference, I got to see how much has changed, and that gave me an overwhelming sense of HOPE. Giving is up! WAY up! Seven thousand dollars higher than last year (year to date). That s amazing! Worship attendance is increasing. Our numbers of volunteers for all aspects of ministry is increasing. Things are good! Worship Information Calendar 3 4 Don t get me wrong, we re not out of the woods yet. But we re moving in a very positive direction. And it s all your fault!! 8 2017 CONFIRMANDS Congratulations to our four Confirmands for 2017! September 24th we welcomed four young adults as full members of our church. We welcome Kolby Dagner, Bruce Downing Jr., Michael Ververs and Logan Weaver. 8
9 WELCOME BACK! It is great to be back on a regular schedule! We hope everyone enjoyed their summer! We welcome back Rachel Caldari-Stroh as music director and Nicole Stroh as our pianist! Sunday School has begun and Adult Bible Study will begin on October 1st (both at 9:15am). 9
10 A NIGHT WITH SPIRIT We held our 2nd Night with Spirit, with Gina Marie DeLuca on September 17th. We had a great turnout and raised $ for our church!! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this another success. 10
11 HURRICANE RELIEF Towels and Go-Bags for Hurricane Relief were collected, packaged and distributed. THANK YOU to Jean Embler for heading up this AMAZING mission! We made over 500 hygenic bags for those working on the relief effort. Many thanks to Jean and all of the workers for their time and efforts! 11

14 NEWS AROUND THE CHURCH HELPING AFTER THE HURRICANES Thanks to your generosity, we raised $ for UMCOR to be used for Hurricane Relief. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Christ! PARKING LOT REFURBISHMENT ADULT BIBLE STUDY CLASS Beginning this Sunday, October 1st, at 9:15am in the Upper Room. We ll be reading and discussing the fictional novel The Five People You Meet in Heaven written by Mitch Alblom. Bring your own book (if you haven t ordered one through the church) and join us! Six Sundays, all 9:15am, October 1st through November 12th. Our parking lot looks great! Thank you to all who have supported and are supporting our Rebirth & Renewal Capital Campaign. This was one of the larger projects that needed to be done, and it s on its way to completion! Community organizations also gave financially to this project, so if you see any one from the Camp Meeting Association, At The Tabernacle, or the Mount Tabor Historical Soci- BAKE SALE! A VERY SPECIAL BIRTHDAY! We would like to wish Henry Henes a very Happy 100th birthday! He will be celebrating this milestone on October 15th. Happy 100th Birthday Henry!!! We re hosting a Bake Sale Fundraiser during the Historical Society s Annual House Tour! Please consider donating some treats! 15 Twenty-Fourth Annual House Tour Sponsored by the Mount Tabor Historical Society Saturday, September 30, :00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Rain or Shine The Annual House Tour of the Mount Tabor Historic District allows visitors to get an inside look at the unique charm of this historic community, with more than 15 private houses and historic buildings open to the public. Founded in 1869, the Mount Tabor Historic District embodies the distinctive characteristics of a permanent Methodist Camp Meeting Ground that evolved into a summer resort community. Particularly notable is the architecture of the early camp meeting Stick-Style and Gothic Revival-influenced cottages with their prominent steep gables, open porches and elaborate gingerbread embellishments. Special features of the tour include a furnished replica Camp Meeting Tent and the Richardson History House, a camp meeting cottage museum. Stop by the gift shop, which is stocked with Mount Tabor souvenirs and vintage items! There will also be boxed lunches and beverages for sale. Proceeds of the tour fund building restoration, educational programs and beautification projects in Mount Tabor. Tickets are $30.00 and may be purchased online or at the ticket booth the day of the tour. The shuttle bus from the tour parking area (see below) will take you to the ticket booth. If you order your tickets online in advance, please print your PayPal receipt and bring it to the House Tour to receive your ticket(s) / lunch(es). 16 HOLIDAY SHOP Our Christmas Boutique will be held on December 3rd!. It is not too early to start thinking about (or working on) your creative donations! This is a great fundraiser and a way to show off your talents!!! It was very successful last year and we hope this year will be even better. Are you a quilter, a painter, a jewelry maker?
