Stewardship Series Money affects your heart. Whether you are in plenty or in want, money has a direct connection to your stress level, your anxiety, and the h e a l t h o f y o u r relationships. It is no wonder, then, that Jesus talked about the relationship between our treasure and our hearts. For a three-week period in November, we will look at the many ways that our treasure affects our spiritual and emotional lives. Join us in worship starting November 10, 11 as we begin our new sermon series called Treasure. We will explore Matthew 6 and Jesus teachings on money, giving, worry, and more. At the end of the three weeks, we will have an opportunity to make personal commitments of our offerings to God through our church in the coming year. We will receive commitment cards in the mail, and cards will be available on Sunday mornings. We will bring these commitment cards to worship on or before the weekend of November 24, 25. I hope that you ll join us in the coming weeks as we look at Jesus teaching on how we can avoid freedom from some of the common pitfalls related to money, and how we can give our lives and our treasure to God. Nov. 11 Nov.18 Nov. 25 Where Is Your Treasure? The Problem with Two Masters Giving Your Treasure Back to God
2 Women s Ministry Christmas Bazaar 2018 The 2018 Christmas Bazaar will be held on Saturday, December 1 from 11 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Redeemer. Watch for the Bazaar signup sheet on the Women s bulletin board. See if there s a spot for you! The Christmas Bazaar is the main fund-raiser for Women s Ministry. We are able to fund many grants with proceeds from the bazaar along with funding our women s ministry. It would be wonderful if you would bake things at home for the bazaar or attend some work bees that are scheduled. There will be a lot to choose from. Sunday, November 18, 1:00 p.m. Cardamom Baking 101 Monday, November 26, 6:30 p.m. WCP Evergreen Arrangements Class Cardamom Baking 101 It s time to tie on your aprons and sign up for the popular Cardamom Baking 101 class. Come join the fun in the kitchen with Cardamom Baking on Sunday, November 18 at 1:00pm at church. Whether you bake regularly, or have never made cardamom bread before, you re invited to whip up some dough and learn a few tips and tricks from our own Betty Gustafson. Please bring your own mixing bowl, baking sheet, spoon or stirrer, and baking ingredients. Recipes can be found by the Women s Ministry board. Bring in any items you have made at home to the church on Friday, November 30. Contact the Bazaar Chair, Amy Gawry at for more information. WHITE ELEPHANT TABLE Redeemer Lutheran Preschool will once again be hosting the White Elephant Table at the Women s Christmas Bazaar this year. Not only do you have the opportunity to shop at the Christmas Bazaar, you also have the opportunity to help the Preschool raise funds through the Christmas Bazaar. Donations are needed for the White Elephant Table. What are White Elephant items? They are things that you once treasured but no longer need, such as dishes, knick-knacks, toys, games and books. No clothing, furniture or computers will be accepted. Please begin bringing your donations on Monday, November 26. All the funds raised through the White Elephant table go directly to Redeemer Lutheran Preschool. (WCP) Women Crafting For a Purpose Evergreen Arrangements Class Women Crafting For a Purpose (WCP) meets this month on Monday, November 26 at 6:30. All women are welcome to attend. This month s projects are evergreen arrangements and wreaths to be sold at the Christmas Bazaar. Please bring small clippers for cutting boughs if you have them, and feel free to bring arrangement containers, wreath forms, floral wire, or ribbons and other decorations if you d like. We will have some of these items available, but not enough for everyone. Greenery will be provided. Call Amy Gawry at with any questions or ideas. Come and share in the fun.
3 Social Ministry Redeemer s Board of Social Ministry announces two opportunities to reach out with the love of Jesus. THANKSGIVING IN-GATHERING We will be collecting donations of food and paper products for the Thanksgiving holiday. Various agencies throughout Marquette County will distribute the items we receive to individuals and families who are in need of assistance to stock their cupboards for the upcoming holidays and long winter. Empty grocery bags will be distributed following worship services on the weekends of October 27, November 3 and 10. Attached to the bags are items requested and the date of return to church. All bag need to be returned to the church by Monday, November 12. CHRISTMAS GIFT DONATIONS We will once again gather Christmas gift donations to be distributed by several Marquette County agencies. Sign-up sheets will provide the opportunity to purchase specific items needed and/or to assist with the sorting, packaging, and delivery of donations. This is a wonderful way to celebrate the season of Christmas the occasion of God s great gift to the world. Watch for the Gift Lists to be posted beginning Nov.17 & 18. Thanksgiving Day Worship Thursday, November 22 10:00 am Transfer the Blessings Transfer the Blessings (TTB) is providing magnetic 2019 calendars again this year to the congregation. They will be handed out by the ushers the weekend of Nov. 3 and 4 following each service. TTB thanks Redeemer congregation for their continued support of this program. Widows in Fellowship This month, Widows in Fellowship will gather at the Cafe Bodega (old Sweetwater Cafe) at 517 N. 3rd Street, Marquette. We will meet there at 1pm on Thursday, Nov. 8. The group is switching to the 1pm meeting time during the winter season because of early evening darkness. Widows in Fellowship is a group of widows seeking Christian fellowship and happy social times. All widows are welcome to join! There is a signup sheet on the Women's Ministry board. If you have any questions, please call Carolyn Snyder at Victory Meal Help us serve a nourishing meal to our Mission-Victory family on November 11th. We will be serving up creamy cheesy chicken casserole. Please see the sign-up sheet on the Welcome Center in the Narthex. Call Melissa Wihowski ( ) or Phyllis James ( ) with any questions. Be a Victory Volunteer - it s a good thing!
