Our best compliment, which we received from multiple people, You sounded like a choir of 20!. High praise for a choir of 6. How d we do that? It really wasn t hard. We just let our reservations go and really sang. But it got me to thinking what if we each let our reservations go and really loved? What if we really let loose on this Christianity thing? What if we opened wide our hearts and minds to God s grace, and what was reflected in our words and actions? What if each of us loved with the power of 2, or 3, or 4? How would that make a difference in our personal lives, in our families, our church, our community, and our world? Inside this issue: Pastor s Message 2 Impossible? Not at all We just need to let our reservations go and really love. Really follow Jesus Christ Our Lord. 7 NEWS AROUND THE CHURCH Jeff Dickerson Shares an Inspirational Story I first saw Patrick at a race in Trenton last fall. Hebrews 12:1 is a popular verse among runners and it came to mind as I watched him seem to struggle, taking one labored step at a time, pushing his walker with his good arm, then stepping forward ever so slowly, ultimately crossing the finish line at home plate. He was incredibly inspiring and I regretted not catching up with him, introducing myself, and learning more about him. This past spring, I had a second chance to do just that when I saw him racing in a half marathon in Morris Township (mind you, 13.1 miles took me 3 hours to complete at a fast walk a couple of years ago). I wondered how long he d be out there on the course at his snail s pace. I walked out onto the course and chatted with him, reminiscing about the Trenton race. I told him his finish line photo was in my scrapbook and he jokingly said he didn t give me permission. He then jokingly asked me how much farther, Jeff? to which I replied, oh, only about 13 miles since he had just begun the race. A couple hours later, I saw him heading for the finish line but not in the direction nor on the course that everyone else was on. Not sure how or where he literally got sidetracked, but that s besides the point. Clearly the point is, we can do all thing through Christ who strengthens us! 7

11 From the Dickerson Family who will be traveling to Guatemala for a week of mission work. This year, the Sunday School joined our cause, helping the poor in Guatemala. We are so grateful for that support, and this Saturday we re off! I m sure many people wonder why we don t help our own right here in NJ or the US. As Bryan, Taylor s fiancé so succinctly put it, choosing a man made, geographical boundary of where to serve and where not to, is just not what we do. I can t speak for my entire family of course, but I think once I went the first time, and I saw firsthand the level of poverty, the bang for the buck (meaning the impact we can make) and the sometimes overwhelming need kind of locks me in. I often think, if not us then, who? Saturday we leave to help this family. Five girls and a mom. The letter tells the story, pretty harshly, but they live in a harsh reality for sure. I m also sure the tears will flow on both sides at the end of the week after bonding so quickly. The tinge of guilt, knowing how blessed we are and knowing the daily struggles they face will fade, but never go away. And that s why I keep going back. People ask me if it s a mission trip, and I say yea...they minister to ME. They get it already. They don t need me to preach the gospel (not that I could), that s for damn sure. We show each other gods love for what it is...pure, true, unconditional, and far reaching. We build them a home, but we try to give them hope. Building the home and raising the money aren t the hard part at all. The hard part is saying goodbyes. Continued on next page 11

12 This is what the Dickerson Family will be working on for the next week. Please keep them all in your prayers as they do this wonderful mission! I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin my hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send? Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart. 12

13 Mt. Tabor ARTS Collaborative will be holding their Summer Theatre Camp at our church again this year! The children work and learn for 2 weeks in July and then put on a performance on July 21st at the Tabernacle. More information and registration forms can be found on the next two pages. 13
