1 Social room (586) mifoe.com Fraternal Order of Eagles # South River Road Harrison Twp., MI April, May, June and July No AROUND THE NEST Sunday Funday Football Season Party. All the proceeds collected were distributed to various charities. Thank you to Michelle Burford and Rosalyn Whitmore and your crew for all your hard work. Good example of people helping people. Worthy President Gary Whitmore and Larry King reflect on Larry s 37 years as a charter member of Wertz Warriors. The Wertz Warriors have donated $9.7 million since the first ride to Special Olympics. Their mission is to bring smiles to the faces of those with intellectual disabilities. Thank you, members, for your support. At Mt. Clemens 1269 we put our petty differences aside and working together fundraise for worthwhile causes. Member Larry King returned from the Special Olympics, Michigan Winter Games with this Certificated of Appreciation. Please take the time to view in our buffet room. The Wertz Warriors honor posthumously riders that have passed away in the last year. Deceased member Gary Kulcuk is in this year s certificate. We also have member that gave their time on a support crew.
2 President s Thoughts From the Eye of Eagle Worthy President HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! It is awesome to see winter s grip on us finally pass. Our snowbirds are returning and very soon our outdoor activities start in earnest. Mt. Clemens 1269 continues to be an exciting place to be. Recently we have gained approval for a new internal unit the Junior Order of Eagles. The Aerie and Auxiliary have committed to promote positive attitudes, behavior and family values with our young Eagles. When you re an Eagle you re family. Let s show them how to build friendships, grow and prosper. I ve suggested a return to monthly breakfasts. After all community involvement is a cornerstone of the F.O.E. Our functions and activities offer members the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. The Eagles have made an impact on the American way. April 1 st. we will have an Easter dinner; the Aerie is our home and there is no place like home. Men s pool finishes up with a tournament and banquet on April 5 th. At the leagues halfway point yours truly leads the standings. I would surely like to finish 1 st (it is on my bucket list), nonetheless recently I ve reflected on how much fun and fraternalism I ve had on that table with brothers and sisters past and present. Even when covered, socializing with members sitting around the table the fraternal spirit prevails. Action starts in the horseshoe pits this month on Tuesdays and runs for 16 weeks. Check your calendar for all upcoming functions. April is also when we nominate our members to have the privilege of being an officer in the Aerie or Auxiliary. Get involved! It s a rewarding experience. Join your officers at District 3 meetings and Zone 1 conference. This gives us the opportunity to network and gain insight into operations of other clubs. All members are welcome I encourage you to attend. May brings Auxiliary Elections May 1 st with Aerie voting on May 9 th this year I will be moving to the Jr. Past Worthy President s chair. Thank you to all officers, committee members and members all that have made my two years as your Worthy President an honor and privilege. On May 29 th we will once again have a Memorial Service for those brothers and sisters that have passed in the last year. We pride ourselves with Aerie and Auxiliary working together to make a difference. A joint installation is planned in June. Midmonth State Convention in Midland. Conventions put the fun in fundraising. In Eagledom we are dedicated to raising money for charity, 100% of all funds raised goes to a specific cause. I will continue to raise funds for the F.O.E. Memorial Foundation. Which provides educational and medical coverage for a member s children in the event of a tragic death on the job or while serving our country. In July the F.O.E. International Convention in Dallas, Texas. I m anxious to once again enjoy the fraternalism with Past Grand Aerie and Auxiliary Presidents, it is a rewarding experience. Take advantage of what being an Eagle is about. I ll close with the words I firmly memorized from our Ritual. My Brothers and Sisters Although the world may scoff and jest, A life of Service is the best; And happiness will always be To him who serves humanity. We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!!!! Fraternally, Gary Madam President s Views Dear Sisters, thank you isn t enough! You ve all been so wonderful; stepping up when needed to fill the charities with love and hope! Our next big adventure will be the Junior Order of Eagles. We will continue with help from our sisters and brothers to promote the values of our God, our Country and our homes. The securities we have come to love which, unfortunately are sometimes taken for granted, rely on our ability to bond with younger people and their ideas/projects. Please, if you any ideas see Missy, Karen or Dawn, we can help you get them to the organizing Board of the J.O.E.S. Sometimes we get stuck in a rut just giving a push with a new thought can really make a difference! We all need help, just be gentle with the pushes. Another subject was recently brought up to me: bullying and harassments. Normally with a laugh and a good joke most folks can shake it off, but a stern no thanks will help. Lastly, ask for clarification, please understand we have ways to handle our differences. Past Madam Presidents with their boundless wealth of knowledge chair the Conciliation Committee, they are the guardians of the Auxiliary The gentlemen in our Aerie also have committees. Our Trustees diligently watch to make the reports necessary to keep our house in order. To help us all, are the officers of the Auxiliary and the Aerie, who are all in Servant Leadership Positions, approaching anyone of them should be easy! We do what we do, only for the good of your Fraternal Order of Eagles, so help us help you! At the next Joint Officers meeting on May 10 th at 7:00pm we will welcome All MEMBERS to ATTEND! Finally, aux. officer positions are up for nominations. There will be many openings. This is your opportunity to become a Servant Leader, to help steer us into the next decade. Nominations are at April 17th, 7:30pm, meeting and initiations; this meeting will be a bit longer but necessary. The Auxiliary will have food after the meeting and campaigning starts! Voting will be May 1 st 11am to 7:30pm. Remember this is important, come and support. We will be creating memories. Thanking you in advance, Karen McKay-Zielinski, Madam President Michigan State Convention June th Valley Plaza, Midland See Rick Jantz or Dawn Cottle for Reservation Information Joint Installation of Officer s Mt.
