Collegiate Care Package Ministry - It s that time of year where we need your help in collecting the addresses of college students for our Collegiate Care Package ministry. Please the office with your child s address by the end of October so that we can get them a holiday gift. Also, if you d like to support this ministry, donations are always welcome.

We have now raised the funds to re-surface the Fellowship Hall roof and the funds are in place to build a much needed audio/visual booth, similar to the ones in the Sanctuary and Youth Chapel, in the Fellowship Hall. Our next project is the re-carpeting of the Fellowship Hall. Donations to Building Program on a tithe envelope or Church Refurbishing Projects on-line, will be used for this next project. Thank you for participating. A Well, A Roof, A School - Three needy mission options were set before us last Sabbath. A well costs, $10,000, The Roof here in town with volunteer labor is going to come in around $6,000, and the school in the brick yards of Pakistan costs $40,00.00 to set up. Select as a family, Grow Group, a team of friends, and make this International Month of October significant with missions. Canned Goods Community Services is in need of canned goods and egg cartons (one dozen to 18 count). Please place these items in the red wagon in the church lobby. Thank you. Bike Fundraiser - Sacramento Adventist Academy Boys Basketball Team is having a Bike Ride Fundraiser on Sunday, October 29 th. Registration is at 8:00 am and the ride starts at 9:00 am. Cost is $65 and includes a potluck lunch, Gatorade/water support stations, and a custom water bottle. The course is 20 miles on the American River Trail. Register at by October 22nd. Adventist Choice College Fair - Students, you and your family are invited to attend the Adventist Choice College Fair at Sacramento Adventist Academy (5600 Winding Way, Carmichael) on November 8, 2017, from 7 to 8:30 pm. Many of the accredited Adventist colleges and universities will be represented. You can learn about scholarship opportunities, apply for free to the attending colleges you are interested in (at the event only) and meet with admissions counselors. More details available at:

4 Carmichael SDA Church Grow Groups Most of our groups are following our Fall sermon series If/Then unless otherwise noted. The Jewish nation s expectation of the coming of the messiah is very similar to what our expectation of the 2 nd coming of Jesus will be like. So although he did wonderful things, his ministry did not come close to meeting expectations of what the messiah would do. b. A mustard plant could reach up to 9 feet tall, but the average was around 4 feet. c. Sowed could also be translated as threw and reflects a careless confidence by the planter that it will flourish. d. Previously people in the Kingdom of God have been compared to oak trees or cedar trees, which are much more majestic than mustard plants. 2. Questions about the text: a. How does Jesus description of God s Kingdom compare to how you understood it when growing up? 3. Application: a. How did this parable disappoint its first hearers? How did it encourage them? 4. Prayer a. Ask God how you can partner with Him this week to expand His kingdom.
