1 Southern Nevada Chapter, Inc. #2735 D E C E M B E R From the Director s Saddle. WHAT A PHENOMENAL YEAR I would like to THANK all of Our Officers for their hard work and dedication in helping make this past year a GREAT one for Our Chapter! It takes a lot to make a HOG Chapter function and it would not happen if not for these Officers volunteering their time. Quite a few of you put in many hours and it showed in our different rides, events and running the Chapter. Again I Thank You!! I would also like to THANK Our Chapter Members for participating and volunteering in events. As well as the Dealership for being supportive and taking care of our Chapter Members. Please take the time to thank a Chapter Officer for volunteering their time, the Dealership and Yourselves for making 2007 what it was pretty darn good! 2 Editor s Note Hello There, Hope everyone enjoyed the year as much as I have. I had a great time putting the newsletter together each month, if you have the opportunity and time to be a H.O.G. Officer I highly recommend it. You get to know many new people and learn how the Chapter works. And it s fun. I ve also logged a few miles on my bike this year and that s always fun. I m working on the Chapter Charity Ride for Christmas and have met many great people through the Nevada Blind Children s Foundation, it s so much fun. Well; if you haven t got the idea yet, being a Chapter Member and Officer is FUN. So Get Involved. Merry Christmas And Happy New Year To All Thanks for a wonderful year, Your Editor Rita Hart Director s Saddle...cont. We had some flexibility and changes in our rides. We decided not to have long day rides in July and August. We had our normal overnighters and even a few 3 day ones. Our Meet n Eats were very successful and we ate a lot. This year Southern Nevada H.O.G. had the youngest Ambassador in all the Officer Corp (Gloria Esquibel-10) and we gave back to the community. We started off the year adding to our motto, making it Ride Safe, Have Fun and Be Prepared to Ride. We had a remarkable year other than the passing of a few of our Members. It was very tough loosing those H.O.G. Family Members and they are be missed. I can only hope that we have learned a little bit about safe riding and safe group riding. Please be careful out there. It was a privilege to be the 2007 Director for Southern Nevada Harley Owners Group and I am honored to introduce next year s Director and the First Female Director in Southern Nevada H.O.G. history, Karen Heriford. I know she will do fantastic in running Our Chapter. Our Chapter is what ALL of us make it, with your ideas and your participation. Motorcycling is a want to not a have too. It s about having fun while we ride to our destinations, enjoying the journey and the people we meet along the way. Ride Safe, Have Fun and Be Prepared to Ride Kevin PAGE 2

3 Welcome New Members Bob Swanson, Ron Sanderfer, Bob, Spence, Mike, Jim, James, Glynis, & Jim Friendly Reminder... Be sure to visit our online PHOTO GALLERY at Photographs are such a great way to remember events in our lives. Our SNHOG Online Photo Gallery is also a great way to share the fun we have as a chapter with friends, family and anyone who is skeptical about joining our chapter. All you have to do is browse the gallery for a few minutes and anyone will quickly realize we ride and have fun all year round! Although Kenn Wynn, Mark Mogavero and myself are the "photographers" for the chapter, we are obviously not the only ones who take pictures at our events. If you have photos you'd like to submit, please send them to photos@snhoglv.com. Be sure to include the date and Event the photos were taken and any other description you'd like included. I'll also be happy to post your name crediting you with the photo's you've taken. Thanks so much, Donna *** Note: If you prefer not to have your photo on the website, request a photo be removed or photo information updated, please let me know I'll make the changes as soon as possible. 6 Harley-Davidson Museum Rivets We have recently received word that Harley-Davidson has a special offer for HOG Chapters and their members. For every 15 three-inch individual rivets ordered by our chapter members, our chapter will receive 1 six-inch rivet free. The cost of the three-inch rivet is $ Here s how it works: 1. Members must call in their order to HD-MUSEUM ( ). Note: they will not be able to do this online. 2. The member must identify that they are with Southern Nevada Chapter # 2735 so their rivet counts toward our chapter total. Once our chapter reaches 15 three-inch rivets, a Museum representative will contact our chapter director about how to order our chapter s free six-inch rivet. If someone in our chapter has already purchased a rivet, please call HD Museum ( ) to identify which chapter they belong to, so that their rivet counts towards our total. They are also offering an opportunity to have your rivet next to a friend s. When calling in your order, provide the name of the person who ordered the rivet and that you would like your rivet placed to the right of theirs. Remember you must call in your order but there are examples at Once you have placed your order, please call me or me so that we can keep a count. Thank you, Asst. Director Karen Cell: rkheriford@cox.net PAGE 6

7 From the Road Captains... Hello everyone, Hopefully all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The holiday season has begun and I know you will be able to enjoy yourselves with family and friends. December is a wonderful time for our club. We will have our Lake Havasu parade of lights overnighter, the TMT Christmas lights ride, our HOG Christmas party and then end the year with our charity ride for the Nevada Blind Children s Foundation. What a great Holiday season we are going to have and I hope you will be able to be a part of it. December is also the time for my reign as Lead Road Captain to end and for another to take over. I have enjoyed my job as Lead this year and plan to serve as a Road Captain again in I had an opportunity to work with a great primary officer group as well as all the other officers and want to thank them for all their assistance. We ve had great participation this year and have enjoyed meeting new friends. Now I want to thank all the Road Captains that served this year for their help and all the extra time they spent on the road and in the class room training to insure the group got down the road safely. You are all awesome Thanks. The New Year brings new Primary Officers, Ambassadors and Road Captains. They will bring a fresh outlook, new ideas, events and rides. So come out and show your support for your new officers by attending as many events as possible. Remember that riding and having fun is what we are about.
