I don t know about you all but my 2015 was quite a challenge and I am looking forward to the coming year with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. I am super excited about being Coordinator of Kootenai Chapter and plan on working toward a fun year while letting the State Legislators know we are here and are watching what they do. I recently heard a representative from Bonners Ferry talk about our rights being God given not Government dictated and it is the job of our Legislators to make sure our rights are protected. She also said the best way to make sure that the people we elect into office do their job, is to start at the State level, educate ourselves and make our voice heard. We the people are supposed to run the Government, not the other way around. Wow, talk about empowerment!!! My hope for 2016 is to work toward letting the public know who we are and what we represent. I want to make sure that whatever we do, we do it with a united front and do it in a way that is fun for the Chapter. I think the folks that sign up for membership in ABATE are awesome! You all are doers you don t sit back and complain about how things are, you put your money where your mouth is and step forward to make things better for not only you, but those around you. I hesitate to say that you only impact motorcyclists, I think it is more than that. You also educate the non-riding public as to what the people who ride motorcycles are all about and show them that a few dedicated folks can really make a difference in legislation, their community, AND have a heck of a good time in the process. I am honored to Coordinate these efforts for 2016 and I pray I can be like Solomon and put forth the value of wisdom. I also want to say what we do isn t about me, or the person sitting next to you; it is about YOU and what you bring to the table. I ask you to not hesitate but step up, bring your knife and fork and dig in! Self-driving cars are understandable, but self-riding bikes are harder to get a handle on. Yamaha says it will display an autonomous motorcycle-riding humanoid robot that combines motorcycle and robotics technologies. 4 Volume 1, Issue 3 KOOTENAI Page 4 CHAT WITH THE CHAPLAIN Victory! Are you destined for it? Put another way, are you destined for Victory? Some of you may remember the lead-in to the ABC Wide World of Sports. It showed people winning but it also showed a ski jumper crashing and burning big time. The Thrill of Victory, the Agony of Defeat. If you have been Born Again, you are a child of God Almighty and you are destined for Victory. I can hear it now though, Well, I don t feel very victorious! I ve still got this going on and that going on, and things are tough! I just don t have it all together yet. Really? Well, if you are a child of God, I m betting that you don t have it all together and may not in the foreseeable future. Why? Because God is still working on you, teaching you, molding you, to be more like Him. In Philippians 1:6 Paul is saying For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Did you see that word perfect? That means we will eventually become perfected in God s eyes. No one really knows how all of that works, but we do know that if we just get out of God s way and hand Him the reins, He will take us places we couldn t have imagined. One of my favorite sayings, and I ll probably repeat it again sometime, is that we re just a lump of clay but God is in the business of cracked pots. He s not done with us yet! When you have a child, you re not going to say, Look, this kid s already 3 months old and he s not even walking yet! Get rid of him! No, you re going to be teaching him, loving him, picking him up when he falls, cleaning up his messes, and encouraging him. If we can do those kinds of things for our children, how much more will God do for us? God works for us supernaturally because He is outside the boundaries of the natural. Again, in Philippians 2:13, Paul is saying,.for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His own good pleasure. OK, great. What does He mean by good pleasure? From where I sit, I ll probably never know the full extent of God s good pleasure for me or for you. But I know in my knower that the beginning of His Good Pleasure for us is our salvation, (Read Victory) through His Son Jesus Christ. The Thrill of Victory, the Agony of Defeat. Two opposites, like light and darkness. Going through life without our Victory is an agony in so many ways, not the least of which without Jesus, our end in the physical, begins our agony of defeat in the rest of eternity! Not good! In Victory, the Bible tells us about a number of ways in which we are blessed. One of those is the Lamb s Book of Life. Did you know that God actually keeps a set of books? With no office staff, mind you. In Revelation 20:12,15, John writes, And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the Throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the Book of Life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And if anyone s name was not found written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Pretty straight ahead, don t you think? I know where I want my name to be, without a doubt. In Revelation 3:5 it says, He who overcomes (Victory in Christ) shall thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the Book of Life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. Victory is sweet. There are no words sufficient to describe the eternal sweetness of Victory in Christ. Salvation for you then opens the door for God to begin His perfect Work in you which He has said that He will finish. God is a Gentleman and will not force His will or His Blessings on you. Just say yes to Him and great things will happen in your life. While you re at it, check out Jeremiah 33:3. It s God s number and there s never a busy signal. WANTED------MORE BIKERS IN HEAVEN!! The program is now available to active-duty, retired, reservists and veterans Jan. 1 Dec. 31, If a riding academy is not available in your particular area, then you can attend another certified motorcycle safety program and Harley-Davidson will reimburse you. Deployed outside the US? Not a problem. If you re currently abroad, then submit the form by December 31, The company will send you a voucher for free motorcycle safety training that can be used when you return home.
