The Class Honored the late Father Joseph Dc Vu. He was ordained for the Archdiocese of Vietnam. When he arrived in the Archdiocese of Detroit in 1993 he was assigned to the V A hospital, and in Allen Park, MI. His devotion and dedication as a Board and Hospice Certified Chaplain and as a Central Service employee in the Department of Parish Life and Services, and also his devotion to our Veterans was evident as he remained on assignment at the John D. Dingell V A Medical Center, and Chaplain at Henry Ford Hospital. Congratulations and Best Wishes to the New Sir Knights of our Divine Mercy Assembly # They are Sir Knight Bob Jasinski, and Lady Beverly, Sir Knight Peter Cirulis and Lady Diana, from Council # 5452, and Sir Knight John Schmidt of Council # Also I would to thank S K Bob Krueger, and Lady Sandy, and S K John Thompson and Lady Barbara, for being their and adding their prayers and support to our New Sir Knights. All of this would not have happened if it wasn't for the organization and effort of our Assemblies Admission Director, S K Alex Kiwior. After the Dinner Program S K John Thompson, won a large and beautiful food basket during the Basket Raffle, it was large and heavy. I would like to mention that at our January Assembly meeting, The Patriotic Service Award Certificate was given to members of, The Transport Wheelchair Committee, S K John Mc Kevitz, S K Jim Bruewer, S K John Benczik, S K John Kozlowski, and S K Daryl Swartz. Our Assembly Dinner Committee is planning a get-together In Honor of their Contribution Former Faithful Navigators SK James Bruewer and SK Joseph Luginski received specially engraved honorary swords during the February Assembly meeting. Both men were recognized for their leadership in the Assembly 3038 Charter, which set into motion the subsequent launch of our assembly. Sword presentations were made by SK Herb Stacer and SK Don White. (Continued on page 5: Faithful Navigator)

2 Sir Knight News : Divine Mercy Assembly #3082 The Stars & Stripes Patriotism : Wreaths Across America In keeping with our Patriotic duty, Assembly 3082 has accepted the responsibility to coordinate the ceremony at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy Michigan. Page 2 Displaying the US Flag Outdoors Displayed from a staff projecting from a window, balcony, or a building, the union should be at the peak of the staff unless the flag is at half staff. Displayed over a street, it should be hung vertically, with the union to the north or east. If suspended over a sidewalk, the flag's union should be farthest from the building. Same flagpole with another flag - of a state, community, society or Scout unit - the flag of the U.S. must always be at the top except that the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for Navy personnel when conducted by a Naval chaplain on a ship at sea. When flown with flags of states, communities, or societies on separate flag poles which are of the same height and in a straight line, the flag of the U.S. is always placed in the position of honor - to its own right...the other flags may be smaller but none may be larger...no other flag ever should be placed above it...the flag of the United States is always the first The mission the Wreaths Across America of remembering, honoring and teaching is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies on the second Saturday of December at Arlington, as well as veterans cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond. Pro-Life : Justice for all born, and unborn Knights join 100,000 s January in Washington DC at the Annual National March for Life (picture to right). Below special guest speaker, Michael Clancy will at the 34th annual Respect Life Dinner in Livonia on April 19th. 3 Sir Knight News : Divine Mercy Assembly #3082 Page 3 John Benczik ( missing in the picture the below) 3082 EARNS PATRIOTIC SERVICE AWARD On February 21st, 2012 seven men from Devine Mercy 4th Degree Knights and four men from VFW Post 3908 presented a wheel chair to the John D. Dingel VA Medical Center in Detroit. The 3082 Assemblies, Wheelchair (transport chair) Committee members receiving, The Patriotic Service Award Certificate, are Sir Knights, John McKevitz, Daryl Sscwartz, John Kozlowski, Jim Bruewer, Standing in for John Benczik is F/N Dave Koss. The Committee working with Fr. Baumgartner Council # 5452 in Rochester MI. to purchase Three transport chairs donated to St. Andrews Church, St. Irenaeus Church, Sacred Heart Church in honor of our veterans, on 11/11/11. Embracing the Joy of Easter with 2,000 Catholic Brothers in Christ The Easter season is among us, and spring is finally here. The new life in the world around us is a reminder of new life we share with Jesus. Just as new life of nature takes many forms, so does new life in church. What better way to celebrate our new life with Jesus than to attend the Archdiocese of Detroit Catholic Men s Conference. The Men s Conference is on Saturday, April 21, 2012 Michael Byrnes will celebrate mass to begin our day followed by EWTN s Crossing the Goal team speaking about conversion, transformation and evangelization. Think about it Assembly 3082 is getting Council 8659 s best. New SK John Schmidt (left) receives the 2011 Knight of the Year award from Chancellor Jerry Rowland (right) on 3/6/2012. John brings to the Assembly a rich, genuine love of faith and scripture. He has been active as the Council s Worthy Lector, has great passion for feeding the hungry, has served out country in the military and is a lector at Sacred Heart. Welcome John. What you missed Monday night football at Lambeau Field in Green Bay Wisconsin 11/14/2011 on ESPN failed to show the tribute to our troops. Apparently ESPN went to commercial during the display below.. Star Spangled During the Exemplification Ceremony we reminded on the same date March 3rd, is a date that all Sir Knights will remember is because on this date 71 years ago 1931, President Herbert Hoover, signed a congressional resolution that "The Star-Spangled Banner" was signed into law as the National Anthem. And the administration shouldn t ask us to. The administration should put ideology aside and work to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States

6 Sir Knight News : Divine Mercy Assembly #3082 Page 6 Knights : In Action around the World Knights : On the Move Detroit Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron today announced the appointment of Msgr. Todd J. Lajiness as the new rector/president of Detroit s Sacred Heart Major Seminary. Msgr. Lajiness has been serving as dean of studies at the seminary since He also is a weekend assistant at Holy Family Parish in Novi. His appointment as rector is effective May 5. Msgr. Lajiness, 43, succeeds Msgr. Jeffrey Monforton, who in December was named pastor of St. Andrew Parish in Rochester, Michigan s largest Catholic parish, also effective May 5. Msgr. Laijness is the KofC Michigan State Chaplin, also Msgr. Monforton is an active Knight. (Continued from page 1 : Faithful Navigator) Bob Gillam from our 5452 council has forwarded this photo showing SK Craig Wiles (front row, first on left) in Kabul Afghanistian. Most recently the Knights were sorting donated winter clothes and school supplies for Afghan children. In partnership with they Italian Embassy the Knights work to support a Catholic school and 5 orphanages here in Kabul. Don t Miss : Our Lady Last year, the Knights of Columbus initiated a new two year prayer program dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe. In April, the Father Baumgartner Council, which supports the parishes of St. Andrew, St. Irenaeus and St. John Fisher, will be receiving a large framed Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This Image has received a Papal blessing and was touched to the original miraculous Image on Juan Diego s tilma in Mexico City. Also the Image was sealed with soil from Mexico s Tepeyac Hill where Our Lady appeared to Juan Diego in at a local resturant. A survay will be sent out asking for Month, Day, Time preference, please fill out and send back. At the closing of our Feburary Assembly, our members presented to the Past Faithful Navigators, S K Jim Bruewer, and S K Joe Luginski. A Color Corp, Past Faithful Navigators Sword with their names and assembly engraved on the sword. A large reminder that our next exemplification is September 15, 2012, at De Carlo's Banquet and Convention Center, Warren MI. We need new members, our membership is getting well seasoned. Please ask you buddies in the third degree to join the fourth degree. Ask and you can receive the Form four, application from me or Alex Kiwiork. Than You, Vivat Jesus And God Bless You, David Koss, Faithful Navigator In addition to having the Image available for viewing, a series of Prayer Services in conjunction with celebration of the Holy Eucharist or Benediction has been arranged at the three parishes during the period of April 18 th through April 21 st. Although Assembly 3082 has enjoyed a most mild winter here in Michigan, apparently Christian faithful elsewhere haven t fared quit as well.
