6 WHAT S NEXT SAVE THE DATE Upcoming Parish events and courtesy announcements St. Joseph s Table will be held on Monday, March 19th in Deacon Hall. Mass will begin at 6:00 p.m. with dinner in the hall immediately following. We would welcome anyone joining the commi ee to help for a short period of me. The first mee ng will be held in Deacon Hall to get plans underway on January 8th. At 6:00 p.m. Please call Suzanne Burst at if you plan on a ending or have any ques ons. We look forward once again to a successful gathering of St. Lawrence parishioners to celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph. St. Joseph s table is open to all parishioners, their family and friends. 8 Dear St. Lawrence School Families, ST. LAWRENCE SCHOOL His Banner Over Us Is Love We are con nuing to devote each week of Advent to praying for different people in our community in connec on with our service ac vi es so far this year. During this second week of Advent, our prayers at morning program will be directed toward the poor, especially those for whom we helped clothe through our dona ons of hats, gloves, scarves, and coats for our Tree of Thanks and Giving. It is so wonderful to see our students praying for others in our community and reflec ng on the many service projects that they have par cipated in as we all prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I truly enjoyed seeing so many parents and students a end our Barnes and Noble Book Fair last week! Thank you to Mrs. Roberts and all of the volunteers who worked to make this evening run so smoothly. I especially want to thank Mrs. Fraser for pu ng together such a wonderful Barnes and Noble Night. This was such a fun experience and a great way for us to show our support for St. Lawrence School! Last Wednesday our school celebrated St. Nicholas Day. Each student le one of his or her shoes outside of the classroom in the morning and a special visitor filled the shoes with candy and toys. Everyone had a great me as we celebrated the goodness and generosity of St. Nicholas. A special thank you to St. Nicholas and his elves who helped make this such a fun experience for our students! I would like to congratulate Lila Weidert (3 rd Grade) for winning the Ride the Firetruck to School Contest. Lila received this prize for crea ng the winning fire safety evacua on plan as part of the contest. The students enjoyed watching her and Ms. Moran arrive to school last week in the big firetruck. Our third grade class was especially excited to greet Lila and Ms. Moran as the truck pulled up to the school building! Thank you to all of the parents who a ended our Parent Teacher Conferences last week. I con nue to receive posi ve feedback from families about the first quarter of the school year. I am excited to be a part of what I know will be a successful second quarter here at St. Lawrence! I am happy to announce that St. Lawrence School will again have a school newspaper this year. The paper is now called The St. Lawrence School Post and can be accessed in the For The Parents sec on of our school website. I would like to thank our enrichment teachers and school newspaper advisors, Mrs. Guentner and Ms. Milano for working with our enrichment students to put together the first issue of this year s school newspaper. We are looking forward to more issues throughout the school year! Our Christmas Concert for grades K-5 will be this Thursday, December 14 th at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM in the church. We hope to see you all there to celebrate the holiday season with us through music! St. Lawrence School s Marke ng Commi ee is looking for new members for the school year. This commi ee is made up of parents and teachers who work together to plan and implement marke ng strategies for our school. If you would like to be part of this commi ee, please join us at our next mee ng this Wednesday, December 13 th at 6:00 PM in Deacon Hall, Room 4. As winter weather begins to move into Rochester, I would like to remind everyone that if the Greece Central School District closes, St. Lawrence School will be closed as well. Please check local television sta ons WHAM 13, WROC 8, and NBC 10 for school closing informa on. All St. Lawrence School faculty, staff, and parents will be no fied via our My Students Progress newsflash system if the school is closed. We will also post school closing informa on on our website that can be accessed by clicking on the closing and delays bu on on our home page. If the Greece Central School District is open and you do not receive any no fica on from us, please assume that St. Lawrence School is open.
