3 On December 10 and 17, all newly elected elders and deacons are invited to the east side of the youth room between morning services - 9:45-10:30 - for consistory orientation. This will be led by members of the Vision Administration team. If you want to write or send a card this season to our shut-ins, addresses are in a green box at the information center. Due to repeated vandalism, minor theft and disregard for rules of use of the MRC church building, the Consistory has decided to purchase a security camera system and remote access door locking system. Starting December 1st only the two main East doors and the West entrance near the Refuge will be open on the following Schedule. Doors will be open on Monday Friday from 8 am to 9pm, Saturday from 8 am to 11 am, and Sunday from 7 am to 9 pm on weeks with Sunday evening activities. On weeks with no scheduled Sunday evening activities the building will be closed at 4 pm. We ask that if other doors are used that they are closed securely when you are finished. If you need access to the building other than the scheduled times please contact Mike Kamerman. If you have questions please direct them to Aaron Maassen or Alan Muilenburg. The Recycled Teenagers will have a Christmas Party on Friday, December 15, 2017, at 6:15 pm at the Triple Box located at 4758 Ironwood Ave., Orange City, IA. Call Evonne Wielenga ( ) to RSVP or for more details. The Angel Tree will be set up again this year to help purchase gifts on behalf of inmates who would like their children to receive gifts this Christmas. The tree will be set up on Sundays in December until all angels are adopted. Gifts will be due back by Wednesday, Dec. 13 to ensure time for delivery! Thank you for continuing to bless this ministry. If you are interested in delivering gifts to Sioux City or Sioux Falls, please contact Kelli Bartlett at or Emily Borger in the office. Poinsettias - Thank you to everyone who ordered poinsettias! The cost is $12 and can be paid at the church office. Please pay before December 24, as poinsettias will be available for pick up after the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.

4 Church Family Prayer Prayer Concerns: Continue to remember Brent De Kok in your prayers. Pray that his counts will be high enough so he can begin his last 5 day chemo treatment tomorrow. Keep Pam De Haan in your prayers as she is having exploratory surgery Wednesday afternoon. Pray for peace and healing for her. Please remember Brian Vande Kieft in your prayers as he had an emergency appendectomy last Sunday. Pray for healing for him. Please pray for Marty Driggers as she recovers from hip surgery. We pray for a quick recovery for her, and that the pain will finally be gone. Keep Greg Haverdink in your prayers as he had knee surgery this past week. Prayers for a speedy recovery for him. Remember Loren Vander Schaaf in your prayers as he recovers from gall bladder surgery. Pray that the recovery goes smoothly. Sympathy: We extend our sympathy to Alvis Van Beek and family in the passing of Marlene Van Beek. Visitation will be today from 4:00-7:00 at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center, and a funeral service will be held tomorrow, December 11, at 1 PM at MRC. And we continue to remember Alison Lenters and Ryan Palsma in our prayers. ************************************************************************* December Benevolence Feature Sioux County Community Services offers assistance to low income residents of Sioux County who are experiencing financial difficulty through no fault of their own, and have no other avenue of support through relatives, government programs, or other public or private resources. Areas of assistance include the following: Rent Utilities Food Cremation Assistance Voluntary Substance Abuse Grant Mental Health Services Limited Legal Assistance

5 A CD has been placed in the mailbox of families who have children ages 3 years old through fifth grade. These CD s have the songs your children will need to know for the Christmas program. If you did not get one in your mailbox please contact Bonnie Wolf, she has a few extra in her office! Practice Schedule for Christmas Program th Graders December 10: 9:35-10:35 am - Meet in the multipurpose room 5-6:30 pm - Practice - 5th graders - Fireside Room December 17: 9:35-10:35 am - Meet in the multipurpose room 4:40 pm - Meet in your child s singing room 5:00 pm - Christmas Program 2017 Ireton Christian School will hosting a soup supper and Christmas candy/cookie walk on December 18, Serving will be from 5-7 PM at the gym. The menu will include chili, potato, and chicken soups, as well as tavern, coneys, and hot dogs. Desserts will include pie and ice cream. There will be a free will donation Unity Christian High School s annual Christmas concert will be presented on Thursday, December 14 at 7:00 pm at the Unity Christian Knight Center. All the school s music ensembles will participate. A free will offering will be received for the Music Department. Come and celebrate the birth of the King! Unity Christian High School is holding a Complete the Vision campaign at this time. The Knight Center and Court Yard have been a vital addition to our school. As part of the campaign, a team of donors has issued a match challenge for every dollar raised, another will be given up to a limit of $250,000. As of December 4, a thank you to the constituents who have donated $81, (not including matching funds). Please consider a gift to retire the Knight Center debt. Inspiration Hills - We invite you to our Prayer & Praise Night on December 14th where we will worship together and break into groups praying for the surrounding communities and churches! This is a free event to the public where you can enjoy the company of each other and praise our Lord!
