3 As I watched, thrones were set in place, and an Ancient One took his throne; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames, and its wheels were burning fire. A stream of fire issued and flowed out from his presence. A thousand thousand served him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood attending him. The court sat in judgement, and the books were opened. As I watched in the night visions, I saw one like a human being coming with the clouds of heaven. And he came to the Ancient One and was presented before him. To him was given dominion and glory and kingship, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not pass away, and his kingship is one that shall never be destroyed. Hear the word of the Lord. SECOND READING A reading from the book of Revelation 12:7 12a And war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels fought back, but they were defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, proclaiming, Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Messiah, for the accuser of our comrades has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. But they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not cling to life even in the face of death. Rejoice then, you heavens and those who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you with great wrath, because he knows that his time is short! Philip found Nathanael and said to him, We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth. Nathanael said to him, Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see. When Jesus saw Nathanael coming towards him, he said of him, Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit! Nathanael asked him, Where did you come to know me? Jesus answered, I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you. Nathanael replied, Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel! Jesus answered, Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these. And he said to him, Very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man. This is the gospel of the Lord. 8 LUNCH AT THE PUB TODAY Join parishioners at the Hotel Mosman 634 Military Rd - near Brady Street 12 noon downstairs. All welcome MINI CAKE & PRODUCE STALL The next Mini Cake and Produce Stall will be held next Sunday 2 October in the Armstrong Room. Funds raised will go to support Anglicare s Kingsdene Respite Cottage at Rooty Hill for children with a permanent disability. MEN S DINNER Thank you to Tim Moon for organising the Men s Dinner held last night at Mosman RSL. An enjoyable evening was had by those who attended. Look out for details in the pew sheet of the next dinner to be held. ST PETER S HOLIDAY CLUB An invitation is extended to all children from Kindergarten to Year 6 to attend the St Peter s Holiday Club during the school holidays on 6 and 7 October. Gold Coin Donation to Anglicare ANNUAL GARAGE SALE The date was set at Parish Council on Monday. The date is Saturday 15 October. Please have a look for any bric a brac you don t need now at home and put it to one side. Please do not bring goods to the church yet. The Parish Store Room is storing the goods from the Wardens Office following the renovation of the Lower Hall, and the David Armstrong Room is used for the children. Goods will be much appreciated but not quite yet. Proceeds as usual to Missions supporting those in need here and overseas. Our fundraising total at the end of August is $6, which is less than our $10,000 annual target. But we must never forget that all funds received are funds we didn t have to start with for which we give thanks. RWANDAN COFFEE AVAILABLE TODAY Ground or Beans -$9.00/200gms Please leave money in the jar provided Supporting Rwanda Communities ABM REFLECTION Daniel 7:9-10,13-14; Psalm 138; Revelation 12:7-12a; John 1:45-51 Reading the Book of Revelation takes us out of our mundane world and transports us into another dimension. We are often so absorbed by the here and now that we forget that there is much more to reflect upon. The Church s commemoration of St Michael and All Angels takes us into that other world that Jesus spoke about. Besides the dramas that are described by St John, the Divine in Revelations, there are so many incidents that involve the angels, whether in the Old or the New Testament. It would seem that some people feel an affinity with angels the concept of a guardian angel. Then too, Jesus warns his disciples See that you despise not one of these little ones: for I say to you, that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father who is heaven.
