We hope you enjoy being with us and that you will experience the reality of God s presence, power and love in the week ahead. If you are a newcomer we would like to keep in touch. THE REIGN OF CHRIST 25th November 2018 Sentence: Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honour and glory and blessing. Revelation 5.12 Prayer of the Day: Everlasting God, whose will is to restore all things in your well-beloved Son, our Lord and King: grant that the people of earth, now divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought together under his gentle and loving rule; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. A reading from the Prophet 2 Samuel the oracle of the man whom God exalted, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the favourite of the Strong One of Israel: The spirit of the Lord speaks through me, his word is upon my tongue. 2 The God of Israel has spoken, the Rock of Israel has said to me: One who rules over people justly, ruling in the fear of God, is like the light of morning, like the sun rising on a cloudless morning, gleaming from the rain on the grassy land. Is not my house like this with God? For he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. Will he not cause to prosper all my help and my desire? But the godless are all like thorns that are thrown away; for they cannot be picked up with the hand; to touch them one uses an iron bar or the shaft of a spear. And they are entirely consumed in fire on the spot. (Pause for reflection) Hear the Word of the Lord. THANKS BE TO GOD Psalm 93 The Lord is king, and has put on robes of glory: the Lord has put on his glory, he has girded himself with strength. He has made the world so firm: that it cannot be moved. Your throne is established from of old: you are from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice: the floods lift up their pounding. But mightier than the sound of many waters, than the mighty waters or the breakers of the sea: the Lord on high is mighty. Your decrees are very sure: and holiness, O Lord, adorns your house for ever. A reading from Revelation 1.4b-8 John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and freed us from our sins by his blood, and made us to be a kingdom, priests serving his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Jesus answered, Do you ask this on your own, or did others tell you about me? Pilate replied, I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests have handed you over to me. What have you done? Jesus answered, My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my followers would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here. Pilate asked him, So you are a king? Jesus answered, You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice. Prisoners depend on their gifts of food and clothing for survival and are sustained by their visits and prayers. Members support priests and their families, the sick and the congregational families and in so doing strive in the way of righteousness. Page 3

Senior s Service Please join us for the Senior s Service on Tuesday, 4th December, at 9.30 am in St Peter s Church. All welcome. Christmas Service of Remembrance Gympie Funerals would like to invite family and friends who are grieving the lost of a loved one to gather and share in a Christmas Service of Remembrance. This year Pastor Dean Comerford and Celebrant Jane Trigg will lead the service to be held on Tuesday, 4 th December 2018 starting at 6 pm at the Gympie Funeral Home Chapel. All welcome. Family Ministry Meeting Family Ministry meeting will be held in St Peter s Church on Thursday, 6th December at 3.30 pm. THANK YOU! Recent RSPCA Retiring Collection The RSPCA would like to acknowledge that the two collections for the RSPCA came to $ and the money has been spent at the Gympie Animal Care Centre. We have bought a new pump for the Water Feature in the Pet Memorial Garden and several bales of straw for our Chooks (four of them) looking for new homes! Our heartfelt thanks as the pump for the Water Feature did cost over $146 and we would never have been able to fix this for a very long time without this very kind donation. Please come and visit our beautiful gardens which are maintained by our faithful volunteers and bring your pooches to our fun filled Dog Parks open daily 10am-5pm. Our sincerest thanks to the parishioners of St. Peters Anglican Church for their generosity and much appreciated support. We have decorated trees of different sizes for either $10 or $20. Tinsel and baubles available as well as Christmas clothing including T- Shirts. Pop in for a browse. Donations welcome: Particularly magazines, and bric-a-brac. We d be happy to receive just about anything useful, clean and undamaged. Drop your donations into the shop or into one of white bins at St Peter s, St John s in Gympie or Good Shepherd in Rainbow Beach. Closure of Christ Church Imbil & Services in Mary Valley Last Sunday afternoon Christ Church Imbil was closed with Bishop Jeremy Greaves presiding. The weather held out and we had a larger than expected turnout with approximately 60 people in attendance. Services will continue in the Mary Valley with a Service to be held each month in the Uniting Church at 3 Elizabeth Street, Imbil. On Sunday, 9th December we re invited to join the UCA gathering for morning tea before starting our Service at 11 am. All welcome. Bring and Buy Stall Don t forget - if you have any excess produce, baked goods, crafts or other items you d like to donate to our Bring and Buy stall, we d be most grateful. It doesn't have to be a large amount, as every little bit helps. Please leave on the table at the back of the church with a price tag. For people purchasing items there is a donation box on the table also.
