THE ORDER OF SERVICE Processional Hymn Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart, naught be all else to me, save that thou art; thou my best thought by day or by night, waking or sleeping, thy presence my light. Be thou my wisdom, be thou my true word, I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord; thou my great Father, thy child let me be; thou in me dwelling, and I one with thee. Be thou my armour, my sword for the fight; be thou my dignity, thou my delight; thou my soul's shelter, thou my high tower: raise thou me heavenward, O Power of my power. Riches I scorn and the world s empty praise: thou my inheritance now and always; thou and thou only the first in my heart; high King of heaven, my treasure thou art. High King of heaven, after victory won, may I reach heaven s joys, O bright heaven s Sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, still be my vision, O ruler of all. Tune Slane. 4 Dear friends in Christ, we come together to meet with God, and to take our part in the building of his Church. We will lift up our hearts in thanks and praise, hear from God s holy word, and pray for this world and ourselves. We have gathered together to celebrate God s goodness to this parish in the appointment of the Reverend Tim St. Quintin. He has been called by God to exercise a position of great spiritual responsibility as Rector of this congregation. We shall be praying for him, and praying for the congregation, in this new stage of God s work in the Parish of Cremorne. As we celebrate the commencement of this ministry in the parish, let us first come before our Heavenly Father in prayer, using the words our Saviour taught us: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen. Please stand. Hymn Should nothing of our efforts stand, no legacy survive Unless the Lord does raise the house, in vain its builders strive To you who boast tomorrow s gain, tell me what is your life A mist that vanishes at dawn, all glory be to Christ! All glory be to Christ our king! All glory be to Christ! His rule and reign we ll ever sing, all glory be to Christ! His will be done, His kingdom come, on earth as is above Who is Himself our daily bread, praise Him the Lord of love Let living water satisfy the thirsty without price We ll take a cup of kindness yet, all glory be to Christ! All glory be to Christ our king! All glory be to Christ! His rule and reign we ll ever sing, all glory be to Christ! When on the day the great I Am, the faithful and the true The Lamb who was for sinners slain, is making all things new. Behold our God shall live with us and be our steadfast light And we shall e er his people be, all glory be to Christ! ~ 4 ~

All glory be to Christ our king! All glory be to Christ! His rule and reign we ll ever sing, all glory be to Christ! Words; Dustin Kensrue Music: Auld Lang Syne (Arranged by Kings Kaleidoscope) CCLI Please kneel or sit. Confession, Reconciliation and Peace The Bible tells us to approach God confidently, through our Lord Jesus Christ. As we do so, we must confess our sins, seeking forgiveness through God s boundless goodness and mercy. Silence is kept for quiet meditation and reflection. So let us draw near to God with sincerity and confidence, and pray together. God of all mercy, we humbly admit that we need your help. We have wandered from your way. We have sinned in thought, word and deed, and have failed to do what is right. You alone can save us. Have mercy on us; wipe out our sins and teach us to forgive others. Bring forth in us the fruit of your Spirit that we may live the new life to your glory. This we ask in the name of Jesus our Saviour. Amen. God desires that none should perish, but all should turn to Christ, and live. In response to his call we acknowledge our sins. God pardons those who humbly repent, and truly believe the gospel. Therefore we have peace with God, through Jesus Christ. Amen. Open our lips, O Lord, and we shall declare your praise. O God, make speed to save us. O Lord make haste to help us. All stand. The Office of Evensong Glory to God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As in the beginning, so now, and for ever. Amen. ~ 5 ~

Let us praise the Lord. The Lord s name be praised. Please be seated. ~ 6 ~

Psalm I love the Lord because he heard my voice: the voice of my suppli cation; 2 Because he in clined his ear to me: in the day that I called to him. 3 The cords of death encompassed me the snares of the grave took hold on me: I was in anguish and sorrow. 4 Then I called upon the name of the Lord: O Lord I be seech you de liver me! 11 How shall I re pay the Lord: For all his bene fits to me? 12 I will take up the cup of sal vation: and call up on the name of the Lord. 13 I will pay my vows to the Lord: in the presence of all his people. 14 Grievous in the sight of the Lord: is the death of his faithful ones. 15 O Lord I am your servant your servant and the son of your handmaid: you have un loosed my bonds. 16 I will offer you a sacrifice of thanks giving: and call upon the name of the Lord. 17 I will pay my vows to the Lord: in the presence of all his people, 18 In the courts of the house of the Lord: even in your midst O Jerusalem Praise the Lord. The Old Testament Reading Isaiah 51: 9-16 Here ends the first reading. Please stand. ~ 7 ~

Song of Mary 1 My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord: my spirit re joices in God my Saviour; 2 for he has looked with favour on his lowly servant: from this day all gener ations will call me blessed. 3 The Almighty has done great things for me: and holy is his name. 4 He has mercy on those who fear him: in every gener ation. 5 He has shown the strength of his arm: he has scattered the proud in their con ceit. 6 He has cast down the mighty from their thrones: and has lifted up the lowly. 7 He has filled the hungry with good things: and the rich he has sent a way empty. 8 He has come to the help of his servant Israel: for he has re membered his promise of mercy, 9 The promise he made to our fathers: to Abraham and his children for ever. Please be seated. The New Testament Reading 2 Timothy 2: 1-19 Here ends the second reading. Please stand. ~ 8 ~

The Song of Simeon 1 Lord now you let your servant go in peace: your word has been ful filled. 2 My own eyes have seen the sal vation: which you have prepared in the sight of every people; 3 a light to re veal you to the nations: and the glory of your people Israel. Please be seated. The Sermon The Right Reverend Chris Edwards Please stand. The Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Please be seated. ~ 9 ~

The Presentation The Nominators present the incoming Rector to the with these words: Nominators, we present to you the Reverend Tim St Quintin to be admitted to the office of Rector to care for God s people in this parish. Tim, the people of Willoughby have commended you to the people of this parish, who have gathered to recognise and greet you as their Rector. I present you with this document bearing my seal. It records your licence and authority to perform the office of Rector in this parish. The hands him the licence. Tim, do you before God and in the presence of this congregation commit yourself to this new trust and responsibility. Rector With God s help, I do. Be a faithful minister of God s holy word and sacraments, and a faithful pastor under the great Shepherd of our souls. My brother Tim, at your ordination you were exhorted in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to remember the dignity of high office and charge to which you were called: that is to say, to be a messenger, watchman, and steward of our Lord; to teach and forewarn, to feed and provide for the Lord s family; to seek for Christ s sheep who are scattered abroad, and for his children, who are surrounded by temptation in this world, that they may be saved through Christ for ever. Have always therefore printed in your mind how great a treasure is committed to your care, and for whom he shed his blood. This church and congregation whom you must serve is his bride and body. Pray to God the Father, through our Saviour Jesus Christ, for the assistance of the Holy Spirit; so that as you daily read and study the Scriptures, you may grow in your ministry. By God s grace, may you be a godly pattern for the people to follow, as you seek to conform your life and the life of this congregation to the teaching of Christ. Let us pray. Almighty God, giver of all that is good, you have appointed various orders of ministry in your church; bless your servant Tim, now called to serve you in this parish. Fill him with your Holy Spirit and the truth of your word, and clothe him with Christ-likeness of character, that he may faithfully serve you to the glory of your name and to the benefit of your people. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. ~ 10 ~

The Wardens come forward and face the people. A Bible is presented to the Rector. Edwina Tim, we thank God that he has sent you to teach us and encourage us and admonish us from his holy word. Take this Bible, remembering that all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the people of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3: Will you be faithful in reading, studying and meditating on the word of God; will you be faithful in proclaiming and teaching it; and will you encourage others to grow in their knowledge and understanding of God s word, that they may live in accordance with its truth. Rector I will, the Lord being my helper. Greig Tim, we thank God that you have come to us as a pastor of God s people, keen to see the extension of God s kingdom in our parish. By God s grace, may you make disciples of all peoples, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything Jesus has commanded. Matthew 28:19 Will you be faithful in making disciples of all peoples; and will you be faithful in ministering Baptism and the Lord s Supper in accordance with God s word and the discipline of this Church: Rector I will, the Lord being my helper. David Tim, we thank God that you have come to us a man of prayer. May you follow the apostle s pattern by praying for us and leading us in prayer, so that we may lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing him in every good work. Colossians1:9-10 Will you intercede for the people committed to your care, and pray that God would lead both you and them into a richer and deeper knowledge of his will, in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Rector I will, the Lord being my helper. Tim, you have been appointed and licensed to exercise your ministry as Rector of this parish with all the privileges and responsibilities of your office; may the Lord guard your going out and your coming in. ~ 11 ~

Wardens and parishioners of the Parish of Cremorne, remember the Apostle Paul s exhortation: We ask you to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 1 Thessalonians 5: I present to you The Reverend Timothy David St Quintin, your Rector. The Rector is greeted with acclamation. To you, my brother in Christ, I present the people committed to your care. People We welcome you in the name of the Lord as our pastor and brother in Christ. We shall pray for you as we ask you to pray for us. May God enable us to fulfil the ministries to which he has called us. I now ask you to join in prayer to almighty God, that he will enable our brother to serve him faithfully in word and deed, so that he will be a true pattern of Christian living. People Almighty God, the giver of all good gifts, we pray that you would grant to your servant, now called to this parish, the strength of your Spirit. Fill him with truth, compassion and humility, so that he may faithfully serve you to the glory of your name and the benefit of your Church, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Please stand. Offertory Hymn During the hymn a collection will be taken for the Ministry of Anglicare. O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer's praise, the glories of our God and King, the triumphs of his grace! Jesus! the Name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease; such music in the sinner's ears is life, and health, and peace. ~ 12 ~

He breaks the power of cancelled sin, he sets the prisoner free; his blood can make the foulest clean, his blood availed for me. He speaks, and listening to his voice new life the dead receive, the mournful, broken hearts rejoice, the humble poor believe. Hear him, you deaf; his praise, you dumb, your loosened tongues employ; you blind, behold, your Saviour come; and leap, you lame, for joy! My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim, to spread through all the earth abroad the honours of your name. Tune Lyngham. Words Charles Wesley alt Please kneel or sit. The symbols are presented to the Rector during the singing of the hymn. Baptismal Ewer and Scallop Shell Communion Vessels The Prayer Books Books and items representing Youth Ministry Sheet Music representing the Music Ministry A Stole and Chrism Oil representing Pastoral Ministry to the sick The Rector leads the congregation in prayer. Keep our nation under your care, and guide us in justice and truth. ~ 13 ~

Clothe your ministers with righteousness, and make your chosen people joyful. Lord, save your people, and bless your inheritance. Give peace in our time, O Lord, for you are our help and strength. Create in us clean hearts, O God, and renew us by your Holy Spirit. Collect of the Day Lord of all life and power, who, through the mighty resurrection of your Son, overcame the old order of sin and death to make all things new in him: grant that we, being dead to sin and alive to you in Jesus Christ, may reign with him in glory; to whom with you and the Holy Spirit be praise, honour and thanksgiving, now and for all eternity. Amen. The Collect for Peace O God, the author and lover of peace, of whom stands our eternal life, whose service is perfect freedom; defend your servants in all assaults of our enemies, that, surely trusting in your defence, we may not fear the power of any adversaries, through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Evening Collect Lighten our darkness, Lord, we pray: and in your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of your only Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen. The Intercessions The Rector and Lay Assistant Minister lead the Intercessions. Rector Most gracious God, we give thanks for those who laid the foundations of this parish in great faith, and for all who have ministered in this Parish over many years. We remember and give thanks for all who have gone before us and who by their faith have been an example to us. God of grace: hear our prayer Most gracious God, we pray for those who continue to build upon those foundations in this Parish. We give thanks for the mission and ministry that takes place here, and for all who offer their time, talents and finances to grow your kingdom. Give us we pray, all that we need in order to proclaim your good news and bless us as we embark upon this next stage of our journey together. God of grace: hear our prayer. ~ 14 ~

Lay Assistant Minister Most gracious God, we pray for Tim, Sarah, William, Callum and Kate as they grieve one ending and as they celebrate a new beginning. Most gracious God, we give you thanks for all that surrounds us and our many blessings here in Cremorne. Keep us mindful of the needs of our community, and we especially this night pray for all who are in any need. We pray too for your world, especially for places of violence and fear. We pray for your peace, love, hope and joy to come upon all peoples. God of grace: hear our prayer. Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers. Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Please be seated. The Welcome The Rector s Warden welcomes Tim and his family. Amen. Rector Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. In the name of Christ. Amen. ~ 15 ~

The Recessional Hymn 1. Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon the throne; hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own: awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for me, and hail him as your chosen king through all eternity. 2. Crown him the Son of God before the worlds began: and we who tread where he has trod, crown him the Son of Man, who every grief has known that wrings the human breast, and takes and bears them for his own, that all in him may rest. 3. Crown him the Lord of love, behold his hands and side, those wounds yet visible above in beauty glorified: no angel there on high can fully bear that sight, but downward bends a burning eye at mysteries so bright. 4. Crown him the Lord of life, who triumphed o er the grave, and rose victorious in the strife for those he came to save: his glories now we sing who died, and rose on high; who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die. 5. Crown him the Lord of peace, whose power a sceptre sways from pole to pole, that wars may cease absorbed in prayer and praise: his reign shall know no end, and round his piercèd feet fair flowers of paradise extend their fragrance ever sweet. 6. Crown him the Lord of years, the Potentate of time, Creator of the rolling spheres, majestic and sublime: all hail, Redeemer, hail! for you have died for me; your praise shall never, never fail throughout eternity. Tune Diademata. Words Matthew Bridges and Godfrey Thring alt. Trumpet Voluntary by Jeremiah Clarke ~ 16 ~

Please join us in the parish hall for refreshments. May we advise that if you leave the church by the North Door there is a level walk to the hall.
