May we live in harmony with all those who share this sacred earth and be thankful. Amen. We pray for the World: For those who mourn loved ones, for the injured and distressed, and for all those committed to the work of peace. For all refugees and asylum seekers, particularly those who are children. For all those living in war zones, including Syria. For all those fearing and dealing with natural disasters, particularly floods in Queensland and Asia, bushfires and drought. For all those who suffer due to community prejudice or apathy. For all those waiting for their marks and contemplating their futures. 4 The kingdom of God is justice and joy 1 The kingdom of God is justice and joy, for Jesus restores what sin would destroy; God s power and glory in Jesus we know, and here and hereafter the kingdom shall grow. 2 The kingdom of God is mercy and grace, the prisoners are freed, the sinners find place the outcast are welcomed God s banquet to share, and hope is awakened in place of despair. 3 The kingdom of God is challenge and choice, believe the good news, repent and rejoice! His love for us sinners brought Christ to his cross, our crisis of judgement for gain or for loss. 4 God s kingdom is come, the gift and the goal, in Jesus begun, in heaven made whole; the heirs of the kingdom shall answer his call, and all things cry Glory! to God all in all. 5 Readings 2 Samuel Now these are the last words of David: The oracle of David, son of Jesse, the oracle of the man whom God exalted, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the favourite of the Strong One of Israel: 2 The spirit of the Lord speaks through me, his word is upon my tongue. 3 The God of Israel has spoken, the Rock of Israel has said to me: One who rules over people justly, ruling in the fear of God, 4 is like the light of morning, like the sun rising on a cloudless morning, gleaming from the rain on the grassy land. 5 Is not my house like this with God? For he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. Will he not cause to prosper all my help and my desire? 6 But the godless are all like thorns that are thrown away; for they cannot be picked up with the hand; 7 to touch them one uses an iron bar or the shaft of a spear. And they are entirely consumed in fire on the spot. Revelation 1.4b-8 4 John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and freed us from our sins by his blood, 6 and made us to be a kingdom, priests serving his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 5

John Then Pilate entered the headquarters again, summoned Jesus, and asked him, Are you the King of the Jews? 34 Jesus answered, Do you ask this on your own, or did others tell you about me? 35 Pilate replied, I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests have handed you over to me. What have you done? 36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my followers would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here. 37 Pilate asked him, So you are a king? Jesus answered, You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice. If you have not seen this beautiful garden before you are in for a real treat. If you have seen it I know you will want to come again. We are very grateful to Ros and Chris for generously offering and sharing this beautiful space. There will be a cake stall, sausage sizzle, plant stall and lunches on the day. Donations for the cake stall are sought and plates are available for distribution today. If you are able to make a cake please drop it in to the St Paul s hall on Friday afternoon between 2:00 and 4:00pm. All profits from the day will be shared between St Mark s Camberwell and St Paul s Canterbury. Lay Participation Roster Sunday, December 2 Anne Harding will be preparing the next roster soon covering the weeks from 16th December to 17th February inclusive. Please let Anne know of any dates you will be unavailable by Sunday 2nd December. Anyone who would like to join the roster please talk to the Vicar or call Anne. Mission House Food Needed: the Shelves are Empty Anglicare Victoria and Mission House are in desperate need of any food (Christmas themed or otherwise) that you could spare to be donated to those in need. Though the usual rules on long life / packaging apply, Mission House is in dire need for your donations. Anything offered helps alleviate hunger somewhere in Melbourne. The last collection for the year will be Sunday 16 December. 7
