Thank you to DJ Pégi for providing the dance music for the event, to Anna Fung for providing a cheerful face to greet all the visitors, and to all parent volunteers (Paul, Darcy, Marianne, Joanna, Nicole, Andrew, and those I may have missed) and to our Youth who helped lead the games. It takes a church to be the church! The children had so much fun thanks to all your acts of service. May God bless you richly. STEWARDSHIP COMING SOON. Your Stewardship Committee will be conducting a Parish Relay in mid-november This process is a multi-team approach regarding the distribution and delivery of stewardship information to fellow parishioners, and is a follow-up to the 2016 Growing Healthy Stewards (GHS) mailing. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks. Wonderful Soup Lunch Thank you to Lorna Fischer and Janet Sunderani for organizing such a wonderful soup lunch for us last Sunday. A warm thank you to all the others who contributed their talent, time and treasure to cook up such delicious soups for us to enjoy. Important Kitchen Update. We received notice this week about our kitchen grant proposal, and there is good news and less good news. The good news is that we received approval for a $30, Our Faith-Our Hope grant to help renovate our kitchen. We are deeply thankful for the work of the team to make this grant request, and for deputy warden Nick Harris for his leadership. The less good news is that we had originally asked for $60, This leaves us with a shortfall on the kitchen funding which will be considered by the warden team. More information will follow. Mom and Tots new name: Mom s Coffee Time Mom and Tots has been an excellent community based ministry here at St. Philip's on-the-hill. As time has passed and as life stages have shifted, our base is no longer as large and attendance is low. Upon reflection we have decided to reshape the ministry into "Mom's Coffee Time." We would like to remain open to moms with young children, but also to mothers whose children are in school. We intend to start up on Monday, October 29th at McDonalds on Hwy 7. This public venue allows for moms with children to access the play structure and it also provides a friendly and open space to sit and have a coffee after morning drop off. 2

3 2019 Anglican Calendars are now available in the office. $5 each Save the date Friday November 30 St. Philip s Christmas Gala Dinner Dance at Emerald Hills Golf Club in Stouffville. An evening of fellowship, dining, dancing, and celebrations! Entertainment by our own Roxy, DJ extraordinaire and Russian troupe Hips Don't Lie Tickets same great price at $65/person on sale end of October. This is also a FUND raiser and we are looking for silent auction items ~ items can be dropped off at Church Office. We need all Parish participation for silent auction and gift basket draw! The Silent Auction ~ A few suggestions but not limited to. o Hosting dinner/lunch; o Hosting Games night, o Hosting boat ride/lunch; o Cottage vacation giveaway o Golf course game o Sports tickets, o Handmade knitting/crochet, art work, o Re-gift unused item, o Ask your favourite local business for a basket or gift certificate 2 Gift Baskets for a draw contribute items to the basket o Home Preserves and Baking o Bottles of wine, cheeses o Chocolate or Candies o Serviettes etc. o Holiday decorations Many thanks for your support, Gala Committee Joan & Steve Watson, Bill Pennell, Lynne Strike-Teal and Martha Murphy. Child Minding Opportunity Mission in Our Church Do you like kids? Interacting with them and safeguarding them? Do you have an hour of spare time occasionally? Our Mandarin congregation is growing and we need your help in watching over their kids, so they can worship and listen attentively to our Lord s message. You don t need to know Mandarin to volunteer. Only sign up for those dates you are available and you will have 1 hour and 15 minutes of fun time with our lovely kids. Whatever your language is, they understand. Because your love is a universal language. Plus, most kids speak English anyways. 3
