It provides protection to the Buddhadharma and the practitioners from all obstacles of the path. Generally, it provides protection to all beings who propitiates him. Propitiating to the deity Vajrapani through the element of Fire. During the ritual preliminaries, Rinpoche will take refuge, creates Bodhicitta and recites emptiness mantra. As this day is an auspicious fire day, after transforming into the deity, Rinpoche will invite all the fire deities especially Agnis the fire god and present them with various offerings which all attendees participate. The ritual continues with offering to Vajrapani and so on. The Vajrapani Fire Puja is a very powerful and effective puja and has many benefits from the blessings. 1. For the living, the Vajrapani fire puja offerings fulfils wishes, removes obstacles, improves health, and increases merit and wealth. 2. For Buddhist practitioners, making offering to the fire deities helps the practitioner gain accomplishments on the path, stabilize one's meditation concentration and improve one's spiritual practice. 3. For the deceased, the ritual is an excellent method of purifying negative karma and attaining higher rebirth. - You may bring a photo of deceased loved ones, including pets, or write their names down on white, unlined paper and place them in a box provided before or during the Puja before the lama put them in the fire as a blessing for your loved one.. - If you are unable to attend, you can give the photos or list of names to the Centre s office earlier. The Vajrapani Fire Puja also helps to avert or purify three kinds of obstacles: External adversities that manifest from karmic imprints and affect our daily life, relationships, job, business, etc: Internal hindrances arising from fear, doubts and superstition that affect our health or mental state; and Secret obstacles of inherent ignorance that obstruct our ability to realize the true nature of our mind. Being wrathful and obstacle dispelling, most practitioners take this deity as their 1st retreat deity before furthering their practice. 3 The three Great Red Ones are Kurukulle, Ganapati and Takkiraja which belong to the sacred 13 Golden Dharma of Sakya. Kurukulle is the wisdom deity who has magnetizing properties and bestows mundane fulfilment (like successful in new Business, and warding off court persecution) in support of our ultimate enlightened goal. Ganapati is the wealth deity that can gather conditions for prosperity in abundance of wealth for those who walks the right path. Takkiraja is the power deity, who wield great power of dominance over sentient beings and the four great elements, so that the dharma activities can be protected without any obstacles. BLACK MAHAKALA PROTECTORS PUJA 18 th Mar (Mon) Black Mahakala Protectors Puja 1 19 th Mar (Tue) Black Mahakala Protectors Puja 2 20 th Mar (Wed) Black Mahakala Protectors Puja 3 The Blessings from the deity Black Mahakala is to protect the Dharma from corruption and degeneration and from hostile forces; all impure thoughts and action during the ritual will be purified; to guide and protect the individual practitioner from all kinds of deception and delusion. Therefore, we encourage all practitioners of the Dharma to come for the blessings and to enrich their dharma path. Participants who receive the blessings will be bestowed with the ability to overcome any difficult situations in their life, and also to repel any obstacles that come along. The lamas of Gangtok Monastery have brought along a limited number of Cakra for the benefit of the members here.
