1 Newsletter Term 2, Week 1 Devotion When Jesus was resurrected the scars of being nailed to the cross on Good Friday were still clearly visible. It always amazes me that he came back to life this way. We are talking about an all powerful God here, who could easily have made a triumphant return for His Son without any visible blemish, signifying a total victory over sin and death. So why are those scars still present? For the disciples, they gave visible proof that this was the same Jesus who they believed had died on the Friday before. As humans we so often want to see things with our own eyes before we can believe them. The disciple Thomas was no different he needed that visible proof that it really was the same Jesus. The scars enabled the disciples to verify the authenticity of what had occurred. I find great comfort in the fact that Jesus scars remain after his resurrection. They are the visible signs of what he encountered during his journey here on earth, and of the sacrifice that he made for us. Even in the perfection of his resurrection, the scars remain on his hands and feet to show what He did out of love for us and obedience to his Heavenly Father. They also remind me of life as a follower of Jesus. Life as a Christian is not always perfect, with only good things happening. Life makes scars on us all in small and large ways by what occurs the illness or death of loved ones, failed relationships, disappointments, unsatisfying jobs, difficulties in parenting. Being a follower of Jesus does not make us immune to these life scars; they happen to Christians just as they happen to non-christians. But whilst we carry the scars of life s events, we do so blanketed in grace and love because of what Jesus did for us. Jesus is transformed in his resurrection, but not so much that he loses the scars that demonstrate his love for us. May we too, whilst still bearing some of the marks and scars of life, be transformed by and live in the knowledge of our resurrection to come. God bless your week, Kathryn Krieg Dates to remember: 3/4/5 Camp NAPLAN Week Headlice Checks IMPORTANT NEWS: Headlice checks 4-6 May 6 May 9-13 May 11 May 13 May R-3 Swimming 16 May R-3 Swimming 23 May Special Lunch Day 20 May 20 May Will be held on Wednesday 11 th of May. 2 AIRSHOW It was with huge disappointment that the 2011 Barossa Airshow was cancelled. In the end safety of all was paramount low clouds and rain just does not mix with aerobatics and potential low crowds would have been an issue. Such is life though!! We have already started looking at possible dates for the next one, so stay posted. It was great to have the BBQ on Saturday night, particularly as a way of saying thank you to the school community once again for the efforts that had already taken place, particularly baking, and the efforts that would have taken place. We are currently selling off and returning as much as possible to minimise the financial impact. You may wish to take advantage of the meat and salad that is for sale top quality at low cost! Please see the office to organise your order. Produce already baked will be sold in local towns during this week, and the money allocated directly to student resources - sadly not a playground this time, but towards other items on the wish list! THANK YOU once again St Jakobi for your generosity of time and effort, and all that you gave to the preparations. Winter Uniform Uniform SALE Term 2 is the beginning of the winter uniform. There will be a 2 week change over period which will see a complete change to the winter uniform at beginning of week 3. If you have any concerns or would like any further explanation, please catch up with Kathryn Meal Roster Term 1, 2011 Term 3, /4 Megan Nappa & Gabrielle Pisano 6/7 Paul Adler 2/3 Joanna Juers 6/7 Ian Lange & Vivien Arhens Term 2, 2011 Term 4, 2011 Rec/1 Heidi Schulz 1/2 Nina Berzins Rec/1 Tina Nicholls 5 Sarah Koop In all things we aim to work together to ensure the best for the students and the following system allows this to happen: It is always best to discuss issues with the person with whom you have the issue. For all classroom matters please meet and discuss with the relevant teacher. For all administrative matters please meet and discuss with the Principal. At this meeting it can be a useful time to set mutual goals and expectations. If it is felt the matter is unresolved, in accordance with our Christian ethos, please meet and discuss a second time. If it is still felt that the matter is unresolved, then the Grievance Policy comes into effect, and the Principal or School Chairman will be asked to help resolve the matter. It is never useful for discussions about an issue to occur out in the carpark and not with the people who need to hear about the issue or who are in a position to help solve the issue. Please ensure that you speak with the relevant people directly. Hearsay does not enable effective resolution of issues. When we work together in the positive way successful solutions that ultimately benefits students occur.
