6 Announcements June 18, 2017 We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). While it is true that we are not saved by good works, it is equally true that we are saved for good works. Good works are not the root, but the fruit. We do not work in order to be saved, but because we are saved. ---Stewardship Committee Uttam GC ( Tom ), from Nepal will be our guest speaker during Adult Sunday school on today, June 18. Uttam was born in a remote village in Nepal. His young life became very disadvantaged when his father died prematurely. Early on, he began training to become a Hindu priest. Uttam endured many hardships, but at age 13, he encountered Christ by reading the Bible. His passion for social justice and his search for the true purpose of life grew with increasing intensity. Uttam and his family now reside in Charlotte, North Carolina where he is establishing ministries among Asian immigrants. He is the weekend guest of the Bowers and together, they will be exploring ways to support immigrant ministries in Marshalltown especially among the Burmese. Adult Sunday school on June 25, will be a presentation of the Child Protection Policy training, and may not be applicable for everyone. Adults, especially parents, are encouraged to attend so they understand our church s policy and how we protect our children. Individuals who choose to work with children will have the opportunity to fill out the necessary paperwork. Michelle Wilkinson, CE Coordinator There will be no summer Sunday school for children during the month of July due to lack of volunteer adult teachers. Coloring and activity pages and crayons will be available at the back tables in Fellowship Hall during the adult class. Children s Sunday school will resume on August 6. Thank you to all the volunteers who signed up to teach this summer in June and August.
