Amen SONGS OF PRAISE (hymnal, insert & screen) #140 Great is the Lord How Great Is Our God CALL TO CONFESSION (Psalm 78:35-39) Leader: They remembered that God was their Rock, that God Most High was their Redeemer. But then they would flatter Him with their mouths, lying to Him with their tongues; their hearts were not loyal to Him, they were not faithful to His covenant. Yet He was merciful; He forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time He restrained His anger and did not stir up His full wrath. He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return. We are but flesh, so let us seek the mercy of God through the confession of our sins. Please join me in silent prayer.

3 SILENT PRAYER PRAYER OF CONFESSION Unison: Holy God, be gracious to us and forgive us our sins. We have not conformed our minds to Your revelation nor submitted our wills to Yours. Teach us Your ways and help us submit our stubborn hearts to You. Do not leave us to the futility of our own thinking. In Jesus name we pray. 6 Announcements Sept. 7, 2014 Giving is living, and when you start living generously, you'll be ruined for any other type of life. Trust me, you'll never turn back. Brad Formsma ---Stewardship Committee The Christian Ed Committee will not meet Monday, Sept. 8, but will meet Monday, Sept. 15, at 7:30 p.m. The nursery is lacking some baby items. Items needed include: pack n play, an exersaucer, bouncy seat, swing and large blankets (all in good shape). If anyone has any of these items you'd be willing to donate, they would gladly be accepted. Marshalltown Community Theatre (MTC), 709 S. Center St., presents a free, one-night Readers' Theatre "'night, Mother" by Marshal Norman on Wednesday, September 10, at 7 p.m. Join MTC for this eloquent, enthralling and ultimately lifeshattering play. It is free to the public and will conclude with a panel discussion and community dialogue about suicide prevention. New Hope Christian Church will sponsor a "Living Proof" live simulcast with Beth Moore Saturday, Sept. 13, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Admission/lunch is $10. Tickets can be gotten on line at or at New Hope Christian Church. Meals on Wheels of Marshalltown needs you as a volunteer! Volunteers deliver meals to the elderly and convalescing which is a worthwhile and rewarding service. You would deliver one day each month to meals to appreciative patrons. It takes 1-1½ hours. Pick up the meals at MMSC at 11 a.m. To volunteer or get more information, please contact Jan Stubbs at You're invited to come and bring friends: the Million Volt Man will have a spiritual message, it isn't just science. The whole series can be described as "Sermons from Science".
