They are usually a story or a narrative taken from nature or from everyday human experiences. Perhaps the a heavenly meaning. Parables are among the oldest and most common forms of teaching. Even the Old Testament contains many parables. One classic example is Nathan s parable to David about the poor man with one little ewe lamb (2 Samuel 12:1-10). During His earthly ministry, Jesus used this medium of teaching almost constantly, and for a very good purpose. Parables are meant to reveal simple, basic truths to those who are seeking to understand the Lord s teaching, not to confuse His teaching with a wide range of endless theological speculation. The plain message that we are going to learn this month is that lost people matter to God so they should matter to us. We are using this series as a precursor to three amazing sermon At the Movies, and Parenting 911!. We are asking God for a harvest of 50 souls during these three series. However, you have to begin doing life with your oikos now in order to see them attend in July, August, and September. We have prepared a 9-parable journal/bible study for you to use as we journey through these stories together. You can download this journal on our church website, or pick up a hard copy at church on Sunday. My prayer is that God would use you in a mighty way in the lives of your oikos, and the seeds you sow now would be harvested by God during the next 90 days. Blessings, Chad Sunday Morning Schedule 9:00 am - Traditional Worship Serivce 10:00-10:30 am - Fellowship Time - Coffee and Donuts available 10:10 am - Small Groups 11:00 am - Contemporary Worship Service

5 Approximately eight years ago Terry Cotney, along with several members of his local church, began working on a special project with the National Wild Turkey Federation. The project involved taking handicapped in Newberry, SC. Thus began a journey for Terry that has tested his faith and trust in God. The journey has expand his passion and love for helping others. Because of his involvement with children having special needs and handicapped adults, Terry came to realize that many lives could be touched by having a place for these special guests to meet and spend time away from their troubles and illnesses. To that end, and by Squad building in Prosperity, SC was rented. Terry began adding beds and other furniture to the rooms as God provided. Eventually, he was able to provide a place where military men and women with disabilities could stay for a few days in their own private get-a-way. The building was a little rustic, a little crude, and a little cramped, but the guests were elated to have such an opportunity to get away from their everyday worries and routines. Since then, multiple events, such as hunting Terry s building has been a special gathering place for wounded military and other military personnel and for children with special needs. Local churches, including instructors (for many who had never been hunting or ministry growing. On June 1, 2010, Freedom and Hope Foundation was Wounded Warrior Project. This year, with the help of many contributors, and a lot of faith on Terry s part, construction was started on a new lodge. Men from several different local churches (including Chapin Baptist) pitched in to help this dream become a reality. Today, that lodge is now being used, (though not fully completed). Praise God! Terry, standing beside a wounded veteran, looks over the construction for the new lodge. Sharing a meal with comrades in the new lodge
