3 July 2016 The Cent-I-Gram 3 July 1, 2016 Blessings in the name of Christ, It s hard to believe that it s July already. We re halfway through There are plenty of things happening in the world to attract our attention. Shootings and terror, political campaigns, and now the people of Great Britain have voted to leave the European Union. Immigration, gun laws, a populist movement sweeping across many nations including our own. Where will it all end? The second half of this year, with our national elections coming up in November, promises to be anything but dull. And here at Centennial, we ve also had our share of excitement. Who knew when the year began that we would be receiving resignations from both of our musicians? We re happy for Brad and Marcella. They are both pursuing their dreams in new places, and we wish them well. Yet it s only natural for people to feel a bit uneasy with these personnel changes coming so close to one another. And when you think of all the changes that have occurred at Centennial over the past several years, it s easy to find yourself wondering about the future of our congregation. There is, however, much to celebrate! Our worship life together is very strong, and with some fine musicians stepping in while we search for a new Music Director, the remainder of our summer worship promises to be faith-filled and life-giving. Vacation Bible School will soon happen, and I ve been enjoying the enthusiasm of those who are planning for it. Our relationship with the people of St. Peter s Lutheran in Chester Springs is very strong, and it s a pleasure to share ministry with them. I also celebrate the fine leaders that we have. We re moving forward with some of the projects that we planned in the beginning of the year. The pictorial directory should be out shortly, and we thank those who helped to put that together. Barbara Ray, Lois Moore and Marge Gabrill put a lot of time and effort into the directory, and our fine administrative assistant Rebecca Benecke has done a wonderful job of finalizing the details. We continue to explore the possibility of a new sign, and we ll begin using new worship resources this fall. Our music resignations have also given us an opportunity to reconsider our professional staffing. At the June council meeting, we discussed the creation of a new part-time position: Coordinator of Faith Development. This is someone who will help us engage our members more fully in worship, youth activities and Christian Education opportunities for people of all ages. Initial funding for this position will be from the savings we experience by having one musician instead of two. Look for more information soon about this exciting new ministry. Finally, know that with all the changes that life throws at us, our future is in the hands of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ! He is our Great Redeemer, saving us from the powers of evil in this world, restoring us to a right relationship with God, and leading us always into eternal life with him. Moving forward in faith, Pastor Tancredi
