2 Lord God The days become shorter and the weather has a chill in the air: Children return to School and programmes start up again at Church it feels like a time of new beginnings. Sometimes, Lord, I love change, but sometimes it scares me. Yet you never change, and you will never leave nor forsake me. I can trust your words and your promises. Help me to know that you are the sure anchor of my soul, and that I can set my hopes in you. Sometimes I feel the storms will overwhelm me the lightning will strike and the rains flood but your everlasting arms hold me up. Sometimes when I m enjoying the sunshine, I m tempted to forget you, for I enjoy your good gifts and don t return thanks to the Giver: Whatever the season, may I remember you and your love. And during this season of fresh starts, may you help me look outside of myself to your hurting world. Fill me with your love, that I may share it with those whom I meet. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. Amy Boucher Pye Taken from Woman Alive Sept 2015

4 The summer weather was not particularly good but I do sincerely hope that all our Mothers' Union members have had some quality holiday time and feel rested and ready to commit to another busy term of fellowship. We begin in September with our Area Service at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday 20th September at Ballyward Parish Church where Lady Christine Eames will be the speaker. As we do not have a meeting before this, please give your name to myself or Shirley, if you hope to attend, so we can organise lifts. We plan to leave the car park at 5.15 p.m. On Wednesday 30th September we continue our 2015 programme with an Autism awareness meeting when a member of the Southern Education and Library Board will speak on 'What every parent needs to know and help us understand how difficult many children and adults alike can find it to interact in a variety of stressful social situations. Do come along and bring anyone who you know may be experiencing difficulties coping in such situations. Wednesday 21st October is our Visitors N i g h t a n d o u r t o p i c i s Colour me Beautiful. Please make a huge effort to ask someone along, remember it is open to all, especially non church members and those from other churches. A member of the Autism Support team from The Southern Education and Library Board will be speaking on this subject and she will try to give us some understanding of the many difficulties children and adults may experience in managing their social interaction and how they can cope with these and other difficulties on a daily basis. Autism now affects approximately 1 in 100 of the population so it may be helpful if we, as adults can have some insight into how to recognise and support those with this condition.

Their hope is that those who regularly attend the conference will be joined by many others from across the CMSI family. The weekend offers a chance to join with CMSI friends for fun and fellowship, as they cast their eyes above and beyond, and take a closer look at the bigger picture of God s mission in God s world. This year s event will include: The Church of Ireland is publishing a hymnal supplement in September, called Thanks and Praise. This new supplement contains some 200 hymns, songs and liturgical settings reflecting the best of church music to emerge since the compilation of the most recent edition of the Church Hymnal. 8 The Down & Dromore Diocesan Hydebank project needs members to help deliver craft classes to women in prison. Two volunteers at a time go in each Monday evening between September and June from 6.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. Names come up on the rota approximately once a month but new volunteers would reduce this commitment. Anyone interested in supporting this work should contact June Reain on in the first instance for more information. The Gift Day Envelope issued in June has brought in the sum of 4,627. Sincere thanks to our parishioners who responded and generously contributed to this Appeal. All CMSI boxes should be returned either to Helen Forsythe (co-ordinator) or left in the Church porch as soon as possible please. If you are contributing by cheque, please make cheque payable to Dromore Cathedral. Are you able to provide a lift to church for parishioners who are not able to travel to church? Do you require transport? Please contact the Cathedral Office and we will seek to provide suitable arrangements. Best position for effective prayer Three ministers sat discussing the best positions for prayer while a telephone repairman worked nearby. "Kneeling is definitely best," claimed one minister. "No," another contended. "I get the best results standing with my hands outstretched to Heaven." "You're both wrong," the third insisted. "The most effective prayer position is lying prostrate, face down on the floor." The repairman could contain himself no longer. "Sorry, he blurted out, but the best praying I ever did was hanging upside down from a telephone pole." Will begin, once more, on the first Sunday evening in October at 7.00 p.m. in the Cathedral Hall.
