Scripture Readings: Isaiah 43:1-2 (ESV): 1 But now thus says the LORD, He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are Mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. John 14:1-7 (ESV): Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. 2 In My Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going. 5 Thomas said to Him, Lord, we do not know where You are going. How can we know the way? 6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.

Sermon Notes 08 July 2018 Scripture: Isaiah 43:1-2; John 14:1-7 Sermon: A Place for You 1. How often do you think about death and the resurrection? Why? How do you deal with it? 2. Of the few ideas and scriptures that give us a glimpse about the time between death and the resurrection, do they comfort you or give you more questions? How will you deal with those feelings? Share them with others? Study more? Pray more? Seek counsel from the Holy Spirit? What? 3. Does knowledge of death and the resurrection impact how you share your faith with others? 4. Do you have faith that God will see you through whatever may come (Isaiah 43:1-2) and Christ will take you to be with Him in heavenly Glory (John 14:2)? Does that belief impact the life you lead and how you share your faith with others?

Kids & Youth Corner: We thank Heather Erwin and Eric Gossard for chaperoning our high schoolers at Lakeside this week. They all endured the hot weather without air-conditioning and grew as Christians. Thank You St. John s members for buying Easter flowers, sub sandwiches, and attending the Easter breakfast etc. to help all our kids that wanted to go to camp to get there this summer. Forest Court visits - Anyone want to go play frisbee or kickball with a few great kids? If you are willing to go to Forest Court and play, share some food and get to know some kids, please see Amy so we can get some dates arranged. If you have stayed at a hotel recently and brought home the shampoo/lotion/soap from your trip and don t plan on using it, please bring it in and give to Amy. Our kids will be making some hygiene bags to be given to Angels for the Elderly.

Summer Bible Study 2018 Samson s Story No Moral Needed Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM Session Scripture Lesson 3 7/11 Judges 14:1-9 A First Love 4 7/25 Judges 14:10-20 The Impossible Riddle 5 8/01 Judges 15:1-8 Love Lost 6 8/08 Judges 15:9-20 An Unclean Weapon 7 8/15 Judges 16:1-22 Samson and Delilah 8 8/22 Judges 16:23-31 A Final Deed 9 8/29 Hebrews 11:1-3; Commended Through Faith This summer, our Bible Study will focus on the life of one of the judges of Israel, Samson. It s a story many people think they know, but we will examine what the Bible says. This year, there will be renewed interest in Samson as a popular movie about him will be coming out this year. In the church, many encountered Samson through Sunday School or Bible School lessons, but his story like much of the book of Judges really is not for children it is as they say on TV intended for a mature audience. Also, a lot of the lessons that are imparted to kids just are not there in the text. They may be implied, but the Bible does not share many teachings from Samson s life, especially in Judges 14-16, which we will discuss. Please come and participate. See how this story instructs our faith, and what is says for us in the church today.

A Prayer of Repentance and Salvation Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Son, Jesus Christ, and for His death on the Cross for my sins and for the sins of the whole world. I repent of my sins and turn to You for salvation. I surrender my life to You; come live in me. Change me, cleanse me, forgive me, and make me the person that You want me to be in this world. I receive You, Jesus Christ, as my personal Lord and Savior, today and forever more. In Your holy name I pray. Amen. WORSHIP LEADERS: Senior Minister: Rev. Dr. Randall J.
