2 FROM THE PASTOR Be Awake, Be Alert! November and Thanksgiving are behind us. We have already entered the inal month of 2017 and Christmas is soon upon us. On this First Sunday of Advent, Jesus in today s Gospel urges us to appreciate a fundamental truth about life: namely, that life is precious, that our world changes all the time, and that our time here on this earth is limited. Franciscan Priest Fr. Richard Rohr writes that faith and spirituality begin with "seeing. It's not about earning or achieving but about "paying attention": paying attention to the presence of God in every joy and sorrow, in every pain and trauma, in every victory and setback before us. This leeting yet holy season of Advent calls us to "watch," to be "alert" to the presence of God in the love of family and friends, to ind the true meaning and purpose of our lives in all the little moments of compassion, forgiveness and generosity. Michael and Fr. Louie. Thanks to volunteers who minister to the patients each week by bringing communion and hosting a Communion Service or Mass.

4 CSC FESTIVAL AND 5 K ON WORLD DAY FOR THE POOR On Nov. 18th the Christian Service Center hosted their irst annual Color of Love Festival and 5K. Participants gathered for a colorful run/walk through the neighborhoods & Magdalen Square. Award winners are listed Best overall: 1 Ryan Gray Lafayette 1 Top Fin 20: John Breaux Abbeville 2 Top Fin 21:54.6, 3 Kevin Gonzalez Abbeville 3 Top Fin 22:38.2 The Sherriff s Of ice provided delicious jambalaya plate lunches. The youth played games on the CSC grounds. Local teen musician Deven Buchanan along with Family Mission s Company worship band performed in the afternoon. The event raised funds to continue providing services for those in the most need in our community. Thanks Sponsors, Organizers, Volunteers and All Participants! Thanksgiving Lunch was served on Nov. 22nd. Thanks to Walmart, Super 1 Foods, Lowes, WinnDixie, Planters Rice Mill, Robie s, Brasseux s Hardware, Francis GE Center.
