1 Come one, come all! Everyone s invited to the DCHS Evening of the Arts & Celebration of Learning, starting at 7pm, Tuesday, June 5 at Durham Christian High School. Enjoy students paintings, sculptures, photographs, video projects and musical performances along with work from a wide variety of other subjects. This is a great opportunity to see what our students have been up to this year as their gifts and talents are put on display. We will also take time to honour and celebrate the contributions of Mr. Glenn Ward and Mrs. Wielinga to the DCHS community. Live music will begin at 7:30 p.m and admission is only $2. Come join us! 3 Offerings of May 20/18: Cephas Ministries, $3,227.25; Carrie VanDorp/Daniel Barnhoorn, $445.55; World Renew, $10, Brock Mission/Cameron House, $5. This week's offering is for: Brock Mission & Cameron House, both provide emergency crisis shelter, food, clothing and support to those in need, and links people to other community services. The mission continues to operate out of St. Paul's Presbyterian church in downtown Peterborough. This has been our temporary home since Christmas of It is serving us well, it has a commercial kitchen, which we use to serve approximately one hundred meals a day and a large open auditorium where we have 40 beds. On most nights those beds are all occupied. The Brock Mission continues to face a challenging situation in Peterborough. One of the significant challenges is the vacancy rate in Peterborough is at historic lows. It is a significant challenge for our residents to find housing and when they do it is usually very expensive. We continue to work with social workers from Fourcast and Social Service workers out of the City of Peterborough to help residents find housing and support for addiction and mental health. In partnership with community partners, we are making a difference. In spite of the challenges, we are housing and supporting clients every month, giving them a new chance to find success. Our Prayer Box: Pray God s love and strength around these loved ones this week: Hans Oussoren and Ken Ritsema. Please remember also Kim de Lange who is now home from hospital. She is diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and is on new medication in the hope that no surgery will be needed. On behalf of Willie Huisjes, mother of Johanna, Alida, Andy and the rest of the family, wish to thank the Cephas church family for your amazing support and love shown during her twelve years at Cephas and especially her last days. Thank you also for your hosting excellence on her special day celebrating her life. May God bless this congregation for their unfailing love. We extend our condolences to the family of Ena Jongsma. She passed away in PRHC on Thursday, May 24. May our Heavenly Father bring comfort to those who mourn. The latter two served an extra year and we are especially grateful for their dedication. Dan Jonkers and Willy Oussoren have completed their time as deacons. We thank God for each and every one of you! Today we have the opportunity to affirm three people: Eileen Nielson and Robin Steiginga as deacons and Lori Wilson as elder. May God guide this process so that His will be done.
