3 April 23, TODAY S WORSHIP NOTES Today, we are beginning a sermon series study of the book of Philippians, which in reality is not a book, but rather a letter, in Biblical terms, an epistle. This letter is a personal note written by a man named Paul to his friends in an ancient Grecian town called Philippi. By all accounts, Philippians is one of the most beloved in the New Testament, perhaps because it is the most joyful letter Paul ever wrote. In fact, Paul uses the word joy or rejoice 16 times in his letter. Incredibly, Paul faced trials the likes which most, if not all of us, have never faced, and yet, Paul encouragement throughout his letter is: Don t lose your joy! Life is often referred to as a journey, filled with ups and downs, twists and turns. We discover throughout Paul s letter to the believers in Philippi that it is indeed possible to experience true joy, found only through Jesus Christ, in the face of wherever our life s path takes us. We begin our trip through Philippians by focusing on the first eleven verses. Next week, we ll continue with Philippians 1:12-18a. Life is indeed a journey. Let s enjoy the ride!

5 April 23, I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. - Philippians 1:3-6 Please remember in your prayers: PRAYER MATTERS We give God all the glory for being Easter People, celebrating Christ s death and resurrection and the abundant life He offers to all who receive Him as Lord and Saviour! We celebrate this morning with Josh & Rachel E as they bring their daughter Elizabeth to receive the promises of God through the sign and seal of the sacrament of baptism. Congratulations to Martin & Brittany V on the birth of their daughter, Summer. We give thanks for new life and that Mom and daughter are doing well. We pray for God s leading and direction in the upcoming choosing of elders and deacons through drawing by lot which take place on Sunday, May 7th. Romans 10:9 Ready to Take the Next Step in Your Faith Journey By Saying YES to God And Publicly Professing Your Faith in Jesus as Your Saviour and Lord? Pastor Daniel and Pastor Duane will be offering a profession of faith/new members class beginning shortly after Easter. There will be a total of 5 sessions. The dates and times will be determined based on availability. 8 April 23, ANNOUNCEMENTS Are you a newcomer to Drayton Reformed Church? Join us for lunch on May 7 th following worship! - meet our pastors and their families - meet other folks from DRC - hear about how you can get connected - find out about the heartbeat of DRC - ask any questions you might have - relax and enjoy a great lunch! Video Recording of Our Church Services! As of this month our church has started capturing videos of our church services. The plan is to make DVDs of the full services available. We have created a YouTube channel for DRC where the sermons (and possibly other videos in the future) are now available to watch on online. Simply go to and search for 'Drayton Reformed' to find our channel. From there you can watch the videos and if you subscribe to the channel you will be automatically notified as soon as a new video is uploaded! DVDs will be made available. There is a signup sheet available at the Connection Centre. If you are interested in having a DVD please sign up in advance and we will burn one and put it in your mail slot. We are also looking for some volunteers to assist with the recording process. If this is something you are interested in please contact John T (by , calling or texting ) and let me know how you would like to help. At this point the biggest need is for volunteers to run the actual video recording during the church services. Lastly if you have an old iphone that you are not using anymore and could give away we would love to use it as a third camera for the system. Fellow Parents: We ask that you would kindly remind your children to exhibit care and respect for the space they are in while at church. Please be mindful of this in order to keep our furnishings and building in good repair. Anxiety and Depression Seminar: 23 years ago, Michael Glugosh was a hostage to his fears and depression. He felt full of despair and filled with anxiety. In time, Michael found cognitive behavioural therapy and completely recovered from his anxiety and depression. Since 1993, Michael has given over 1800 seminars and counselled hundreds of people with stress, anxiety and depression related issues. Michael encouraged those who struggle with stress, anxiety and depression to attend his free seminar to learn the skill to better manage their thoughts and emotions. If you or someone you know struggles with stress, anxiety or depression, Michael encourages you to attend his free seminar on Thursday, May 4, at 7:00 p.m. at the Drayton Christian Reformed Church. Countryside Camp and Conference Centre the summer home of Camp Shalom is hosting Comedy in Motion with Christian Comedian and Busker Bob Cates.
