1 FAITH at WORK Faith Lutheran Church April 2015 Greetings, Sisters and Brothers in Christ Jesus! HEY! Christ is risen! Christ is risen, indeed! Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia well, you get the picture. Finally, we can say Alleluia again. And, whether or not the sun shines on Easter Sunday, we all know the Son shines every moment of everyday in and through each one of us. Sometimes, it s hard to see him shine as we look around our country and our world and see the darkness that tries to overtake that Sonshine. The strife among and between people and cultures and beliefs can be confusing, and cause us to become disheartened. But, as we continue to live in God s grace and share the love of Jesus (the Risen Christ) with all, the Son shines ever (Continued on page 2) Holy Week and Easter Services Maundy Thursday: April 2, 7 pm Good Friday: April 3, 7 pm Whether or not the sun shines on Easter Sunday, we all know the Son shines every moment of everyday in and through each one of us. -Pastor Dawn Easter Sunday: April 5, 10:15 am Faith Lutheran Church 930 Queen Ave SW, Albany OR faithalbany@proaxis.com website: Pastor Dawn Gregg or In This Issue Events and Announcements Community Announcements Quilts People Calendars
2 (Continued from page 1) stronger in the world. And, as we continue to understand that each one of us is a child of God, worthy of love and respect, we grow in that Son shine and in our knowledge that each person is also a child of God, worthy of love and respect (whether we like them or not. Or, agree with them or not). And the Son shines ever brighter. Christ is risen!!! Christ is risen, indeed. Alleluia! And we are Easter people who have, over the past 40 days, followed Jesus on his way to Jerusalem and his death. This week, we joined him there as he rode in on a donkey, was turned over to the authorities, was tried, and sentenced to death. We watched as he died, and was buried. In a few days, we will be with the women as they go to the tomb to care for his body only to find the stone rolled away and the tomb empty. We know the end of that part of the story, we know that Christ is risen!!!... So now the question is: How is Christ risen in ME? How am I living out his resurrection in my life. And that s an important thing for followers of Jesus to ponder. After all, we ARE, as Luther said, little Christs wherever we find ourselves. That s our job, and it s a great job, too!! Happy, happy Easter, dear ones. Be sure to check out the rest of the newsletter for all of the many activities and events happening during April. Lots of things going on. One of those things is a 2 hour training session for listeners as the next step in our Vitality Study program. Please consider coming to the training to see if you might be one who is willing to learn and then listen to all the people of the congregation as they tell you a bit about their walk with Jesus at Faith Lutheran Church in minute listening post sessions. All of this is part of finding out how the Vitality of FLC should be focused. If you are interested, please let Carolyn or me know. I will be asking you, too. But, don t wait to be asked. Many of you are good listeners, and all of you care about FLC, so, just sign on. Thank you!!! I m glad spring is here, but mostly I m glad that Christ is risen!!! Your sister in Christ Jesus, Pr Dawn How does God call us to respond to Domestic Violence? Faith Lutheran will host presentations by Center against Rape and Domestic Violence (CARDV) and the Pastoral Counseling Center on Domestic Violence here, Saturday, April 18, from 2-4 pm. The entire community is invited. Childcare will be provided. To follow up and build on the Vitality Survey, we will need 12 to 15 volunteers to help interview everyone in our church community. Pastor Keys will meet with us April 22 for interviewer training. The goal is to interview everyone from little kids on up. Interviews will last 30 minutes or less, and will consist of only three questions. Contact Pastor Dawn or Carolyn if you are interested in volunteering.

As time went on, Ann became involved in student activities, the Liturgical Arts Guild, the Luther House board, and now Office and Hospitality Coordinator.
