1 Celebrating Community At All Saints Catholic School Volume 5, Issue 12 November 12, 2018 Wednesday: Picture Re-Takes Service Project: Advent Giving Tree All Saints Catholic School is excited to kick off our annual Advent Giving Tree service project benefitting the All Saints Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry in Southwest Detroit. We have more than 110 children that are in need of items for Christmas this year. Some items are toys and bikes, but others are basic needs like clothing, underwear, and even bedding. We ask that you select a child that you would like to purchase a gift for and sign up in the name slot of the Sign-Up Genius program. A grade-level link will be ed to you from your students homeroom teacher. Fund for All Saints What Is Your Reason To Support? This number helps us sort the gifts for delivery. Advent is still a few weeks away, but we need all gifts to be in school by December 3 rd. Please feel free to partner with other parents for larger items or if the sign up is filled up and you would like to participate. If you are ordering items online, please allow enough time for delivery during the busy holiday season. For most of these children, these may be the only presents they will receive this Christmas. Give Us Your Reason Today School Picture Re-Takes School picture re-takes are scheduled for Wednesday, November 14, As a reminder, if your student is getting his/her picture re-taken: You MUST return the original package 100% intact ON RE-TAKE DAY to have your entire package reprinted. Pictures will not be re-taken without the original package being returned on re-take day. No modifications to your original order can be made. If you desire a change, such as adding a background color or retouching, additional fees do apply. Christmas is just around the corner and there is no better way to give a little and get a little than completing your holiday shopping with Scrip! Mrs. Railling s Class Celebrates 50 th! In honor of the 50th day of school, which was November 6th, Mrs. Railling s kindergarten class went back to the 50 s during centers and enjoyed dressing up, crafts, root beer floats, popcorn, and, of course, 50 s music!

3 Unleash The Gospel Advent Reflection Sessions It s hard to believe but Advent is only a few weeks away and we are excited to share with you an opportunity to grow stronger in friendship as we journey together as a community toward Bethlehem and meeting Jesus; we will do this through Mary and a program from Ascension called Rejoice! You will get to know Mary in a personal way as she shines light on what s happening in your life, then together, the two of you, will get ready for her Son at Christmas. Each day during Advent, you will read from the Rejoice! Advent Meditations with Mary Journal. The journal offers more than insights and information about Mary s life- it offers an opportunity for you to encounter Mary in the quiet of her heart. The introductory session will be co-hosted by campus ministry at ASCS & MOPS (Mother of Preschoolers) on Friday, November 30th at Saint John Neumann. You are then invited you to sign up for our two accompanying sessions to see how God is speaking to you this season. These sessions are designed so you may participate regardless of how much or little time you have to prepare. All Saints Advent Service Project No-Sew Fleece Blanket Event November 18, 2018 Noon-2 pm ALL families are welcome to cozy up with us to create fuzzy fleece blankets that will provide comfort to a child in need. No sewing required! Not only will we be practicing the virtue of charity, but this is also a great opportunity to work with other families in our school. The event will be held at All Saints Catholic School. We will have music and a hot chocolate bar for the kids. All blankets will be donated to The Children s Center in Detroit.
