May the Lord continue to bless them with many more years together in love and faith. Banner The current 7 th and 8 th grade UCLS students discussed the use of Liturgical Art in Art Class. From that discussion, students from each respective congregation met together and decided on a theme for a banner. They designed the banner together, and then went shopping for the supplies. They worked with several volunteers to make their design become a reality. The class and UCLS would like to present this banner, displayed in the sanctuary, to Concordia Lutheran Church. It is presented in praise and worship to our Heavenly Father and in thanksgiving to the members of Concordia Lutheran Church. Additional copies of the April calendar are available today on the north buffet. Portals of Prayer (April-June) are still available today on the north buffet. Concordia Church Council will meet this Tuesday, April 3, at 7 p.m. Concordia Voters will meet next Sunday, April 8, after worship. 5

6 LWML Notes The Altenburg Zone LWML Spring Rally will be held this Saturday, April 7, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Wells. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the rally beginning at 9 a.m. The theme is "Reach Out and Help" based on Ecclesiastes 4:9-10. The speaker will be Kim Dixon with the Women s Safe House in Cape Girardeau. The Safe House provides safe shelter, 24-hour crisis hotline services, intensive case management, counseling, court advocacy, referral services, and education programs. In 2017, 96 women and 40 children were served, which is only about half the number they could have served due to lack of space. They are currently working on raising funds to build a larger shelter. The ingathering will be collecting supplies for the shelter. The most-needed items are over-the-counter medications, cleaning supplies, and feminine hygiene products. A luncheon will be served after the rally for a minimal cost. A Zone LWML Mission Service Workday will be held on Monday, April 9, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at Salem Lutheran School, Farrar. Items will be made for the needy. Please bring scissors, sewing machines, and clean t-shirts, if you have them. All willing workers are appreciated you don t have to be an LWML member. Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it for Me. Matthew 25:40. United in Christ Lutheran School (UCLS) Notes Minutes from the UCLS Board of Education Meeting on March 15 are still available today on the south buffet. UCLS would like to invite you to come visit! Every day, there are amazing things occurring in our building, and we would love to share them with you. We would especially like to invite you to come visit our early childhood classrooms. If you haven t already had the chance to visit, come observe our early childhood program on Tuesday, April 10, for part of the day or all day, and see for yourself the wonderful things God is doing here. No pre-registration is needed. Just show up, and enjoy some time with God's youngest children. Your child is welcome to visit with you. Saxony Lutheran High School Notes Saxony Drama will present Disney s The Little Mermaid on Friday, April 13, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 14, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Perry Park Center Theatre. Tickets will be available at the Saxony office beginning this Wednesday, April 4. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door. Seating is assigned, so buy your tickets early! Lutheran Family & Children s Services (LFCS) Notes Hats, Horses, and Hope, a FUNdraiser benefiting LFCS, will be Friday, May 4. This annual event is busting at the seams with Kentucky Derby tradition, including LFCS own Run for the Roses horse race, a full catered meal, prizes, and so much more! Table reservations of eight ($320) are being taken, and individual reservations ($40) will be taken starting tomorrow, April 2. Make plans now to come sing and 6

7 dance the night away with your friends to the band Silver Fox at the Jackson Civic Center all while benefiting the programs offered by LFCS. To be considered for the grant, one must be enrolled in a university or seminary of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and intend on being a full-time professional church worker. Neighboring Church & Community Notes Symphonic Concert The Martin Luther High School Band from Greendale, Wisconsin, will be performing a symphonic concert this Wednesday, April 4, at 7 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jackson. The 41-member, award-winning, instrumental group will perform a wide variety of traditional band repertoire and sacred music. A Chicken and Dumplings and Ham Dinner will be held this Saturday, April 7, with serving from 1:30-6:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Egypt Mills (5665 County Road 635, Cape Girardeau). The all-you-can-eat dinner will include chicken and dumplings, ham, German potato salad, green beans, corn, homemade bread, dessert, and drinks. The cost of the meal will be $9 for adults and $4 for children (ages 6-12). Carry-outs will be available. A bake sale will have homemade apple butter, jellies, frozen chicken, and frozen dumplings available for purchase. A Pancake and Sausage Breakfast, sponsored by Trinity Men s Club, will be held next Sunday, April 8, from 7:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran School, Friedheim. A free-will donation will be taken for the meal. The Annual Fried Chicken Supper will be held next Sunday, April 8, with serving beginning at 3 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church Hall, Altenburg. The cost of the meal, served family-style, will be $9 for adults and $5 for children (ages 6-12). Items will be available at the Country Store, provided by the LWML and women of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Friends of the Library at Altenburg will have a Membership Drive Kick-Off Event on Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Riverside Regional Library in Altenburg. Story time and kids activities will begin at 10 a.m. and a book signing by Ann Hazelwood, featuring the new Wine Country Quilts Series, will begin at 11 a.m. Come and find out how you can support the library through the Friends of the Library at Altenburg. Carry-outs will be available. The 2018 Annual Banquet for Life, hosted by Options for Women (Ste. The Perry County Lutheran Chorale will present an Easter Concert on Friday, April 20, at 7 p.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, (804 N Cape Rock Dr), Cape Girardeau. The chorale will present familiar favorites like I Know That My Redeemer Lives, Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us, and Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, as well as The Day of Resurrection, Thine Is the Glory, and Cantique de Jean Racine. Admission is free. A free-will offering will be taken in support of the chorale. Refreshments will be served following the concert. For over 30 years, Lutheran Music Program has offered students in grades 8 through 12 the unique opportunity to study under nationally-recognized music faculty while nurturing their faith during a four-week residency at the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival. The program works to make Lutheran Summer Music (LSM) affordable for families through scholarships and matching funds. Confession has two parts. First, that we confess our sins, and second, that we receive absolution, that is, forgiveness, from the pastor as from God Himself, not doubting, but firmly believing that by it our sins are forgiven before God in heaven. What sins should we confess? Before God we should plead guilty of all sins, even those we are not aware of, as we do in the Lord s Prayer; but before the pastor we should confess only those sins which we know and feel in our hearts. Welcome: We extend a warm welcome to all who have come to worship with us today. He Is Risen. He Is Risen Indeed, Alleluia! We say that now (Thank God!), but that certainly is NOT what the disciples were thinking Friday and Saturday. They thought all was lost. On the other hand, Satan was jumping up and down with victory on Friday and Saturday. He thought he d finally killed God and won. But then on Sunday, there was the empty tomb. How quickly the joke can turn. Hear the Word of the Lord. 9
