1 Greetings from Father Henryk After we enjoyed a vacation, holidays, and free time, we need to again return to our daily activities and duties: to work and to go to school. This year, our youth had the opportunity to participate in several very important events. The first of these was The CONVO 2012, which this year was held in Niagara Falls. The second event was our annual diocesan retreat at Camp Howe in Goshen, MA. Both of them were good for the Youth and gave them great opportunities to deepen the understanding of faith, our Church, and our responsibility for its growth and development. I hope that this experience will be reflected in the deeper engagement of participants in our parish life. See the pictures and words from those who attended in the next pages. Our parish already began its activities. On September 9 th, we had our picnic Parish, which, as many claimed, was a very successful event. Our SOCL also begins their weekly meetings, starting on September 16th. In the near future we will have some very important events. The most important of these is our annual Bazaar, which this year will take place on November 10th. Almost every Saturday we have a pierogi workshop, in order to prepare enough of them for this event. Our parish is a common good, and every one of us should be involved in its activities. It is not only about our fundraisers, but it is also about the positive promoting of our parish in the circles of our friends and neighbors. Personally, after almost two years as pastor of Our Saviour's Parish, I thank God for allowing me to be and to work with such great people like you. If each of us would treat seriously the call of Jesus, to be his witnesses in every time and place, in a short time our church will not have enough room in its interior to gather all of the parishioners. It depends on us how this new phase in the history of our parish will turn out. It depends on us whether the next generations will remember us as those who contributed to her removal or they will forget us. I wish you all a lot of optimism and perseverance. 3 New Fire Alarm System In the last newsletter, we mentioned that Our Saviour s parish would have to install a new fire alarm system, which would cost around $15,000. In addition, we had some altars and railings refinished due to tape and water damage from years past. The project has been completed and approved by the city. The following people have given generously towards these projects: Irene Jones, Joe and Christine Kozlik, Mary Stefanick, Father Henryk and Renata Wos, Ed Nawrocki, Julia and Matt Hutnak, Lonnie and Sally Watson, Ed and Gail Surowiec, Edmund Fox, Helen Pendleton and Joseph Jeziorski, Jr., in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jeziorski, Sr., and Christine Stewart, in memory of Ronnie Tomczyszyn. Once again, if you are able to even make a small donation to help defray these costs, please mail your contributions to the church, to the attention Fire Alarm Fund, or place an envelope in the collection basket during mass with the same notation. All donations of $100 or greater, the donor s name(s) will appear on a plaque. Thank you. Cathedral of the Pines On Sunday July 8 th, Bishop Paul and the priests of the Eastern Diocese celebrated the annual service at the Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge, NH. The theme was Honor Those Who Serve In Uniform, and all faithful of the Diocese who serve in uniform (military, fireman, nurses, etc) were asked to wear their uniforms. There was also a wall honoring those in active service outside New England or overseas. The Wos family attended along with the Watson s and Sherman s. 4 Mark your calendars!!! Meat Raffle Friday, September 28 th, doors open at 6:15pm. Free light supper, coffee, and dessert will be served. Raffle begins at 7pm. Bring a friend and help make this parish fundraiser a success! Harvest Breakfast Sunday, October 28 th following mass. Come support the School of Christian Living at their annual Harvest Breakfast! If yes, please Sally with whatever you would like to receive In Our Prayers The Lord called to him our Sister in Christ, Stasia Jones, on August 18 th. She was the wife of Bob Jones, mother to Joey Jones, and Debra Todd and her husband Wayne. Stasia was also the sister of the late Jennie Buba. The Lord also called to him our Brother in Christ, Edward Tenczar, on May 12 th. Edward was the husband of Evelyn Tenczar, and father to Judith Beauchemin and Audry Campbell. He was also the brother to the late Alexander Tenczar. The Lord also called to him our Sister in Christ, Elza Saletnik, on April 27 th. Elza is survived by her cousins, Mollie Grace, Karen Grace and Patricia Welch. She also was the sister of the late Jennie E. Saletnik. They will always be in our hearts and prayers. May they rest in peace. Happy 90th Julia! Our Saviour s Parish Fr Henryk Wos, Pastor 500 Smithfield Road Financial Obligations One of the Material Duties of all members of the PNCC is to fulfill financial obligations of their individual parish. This includes Weekly Envelopes as well as parish dues. We are all having trouble making ends meet, but unfortunately, so is the church. Weekly donations do not cover the church s general operating expenses, most likely because people pay their dues, but that is it. With the end of 2012 fast approaching, just a friendly reminder to pay your parish dues in 2012 and catch up on any envelopes you may have missed. Although it was summer and many of us were on vacation, the church was always open and operating. Thank you. See you at the Bazaar! 5 School of Christian Living has started! If your child has not registered yet, please contact Father Henryk right away! The School of Christian Living sent five youth to Convo and two chaperones from 7/ They were Jacob Forbes, Ian Gonyea, Berenika Wos, Justyna Pietrus, and Jenessa Dalton, as well as Father Henryk and Nancy Ethier. In addition, Ian Gonyea, Berenika Wos, Jada Lemieux, Christopher and Jacob Forbes, Father Henryk, and Nancy Ethier attended Youth Retreat, which was 8/ Cody Gonyea would have attended retreat, but he broke his arm right before that. Check out what our attendees had to say and see some pictures! Ian Gonyea At Convo, it was great to see so many PNCC members: Bishops, priests, and kids. Thanks to the PNCC, I ve made friends with kids all across our country. It s nice to be part of such a big community. Niagara Falls was beautiful, it was a once in a lifetime experience. I m glad I was able to share it with the other PNCC members. Jacob Forbes At Convo 2012, I learned a lot about the PNCC. I met a ton of new friends from around the country. Niagara Falls was also a highlight of the trip. I am sure everyone enjoyed it! At Youth Retreat, I loved playing guitar, and this year I was able to play guitar for the other kids at retreat. Everyone in my cabin had a blast doing the skit!

6 Nancy Ethier Convo was a great experience for the children and adults. It was held at Niagara University at the Niagara Falls on the American side. We all got together and renewed our friendships with our friends of the past and met lots of new friends. We had lots of church and sessions about life and church. The food was very good and a good way to see what college campus life is like. The highlight of Convo was a trip tp Niagara Falls and the Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds we all got wet, but it was fun! We shared a fifteen passenger van with Fr. Sr. Joe Soltysiak for transportation. We drove to his parish in Westfield and left from there. Retreat was also fun. The weather was cooler this year, so we had a beautiful week. The kids enjoy this church camp with the dreaded skits, but they always turn out great. We have our sessions in the morning and evening and have free time every afternoon from 1-5pm. This year s trip was to a rock climbing place and everyone had fun. Closing ceremonies were Thursday morning, and we all left for home ending our trip with our annual pizza party at Tony s Pizza. Berenika Wos This was my first Convo. About 260 people were at Convo, and about 40 were from the Eastern Diocese and 7 from our parish. There were about 20 priests, 50 chaperones, and 185 kids. On Monday, after we arrived, we learned the rules we had to follow while there. First of all, we each had one roommate. Inside the rooms were two beds, two desks and chairs, and some furniture to put your clothes in. We always had to walk in couples or groups around campus. We all had to be in our rooms by 11:30pm. We had our own keys, and if we lost them, we had to pay $50. We also had our own food cards, which we had to bring every time we went to eat in the cafeteria. The food was delicious, and we could have as much as we wanted. We could have dessert at every lunch and dinner. In between meals, they even had snacks and drinks for us in case we got hungry or thirsty. At Convo, we talked about the miracles that had to do with water. One of Philip Mack s sessions was really funny. It was made from a couple of skits. We had about 2-3 sessions every day, plus 3 masses at the camp. We also had some entertainment. I liked the juggling man the best. On Wednesday, we went on the Maid of the Mist boat ride at Niagara Falls. We rode on the border between the USA and Canada. Thank goodness we were wearing ponchos! There was also a pretty gift shop, but before we did all of that, we took a group picture in front of the falls. Afterwards, we went to the Cave of the Winds. We had to go underground. We got special sandals that we got to keep and more ponchos. We went on a walk right next to the falls and we got soaked. On Thursday, we visited Holy Mother of the Rosary Cathedral in Lancaster, NY. The church was beautiful and was shaped like a cross inside. It was freezing cold in there though! Following a delicious dessert, we had fun making beautiful prayer blankets in small groups. We made them while praying on them. I still have the papers with the prayers, and this is how it goes: We make the blankets while praying. Then we give it to someone that needs help. He or she puts on the blanket made out of prayers. Then God sees how we prayed on it for them, how that person needs help, and he helps them. That night, we had a dance that was about 3 hours long. We could pick songs and dance to them. There were also lots of snacks and drinks. Many people, including Ian and I, played pool. It was a great Convo! At retreat, there were many sessions and free some. During one of the sessions we watched a movie about Jesus. My dad did a session on all different kinds of churches. In another we listened to s story about Noah s Ark. During free time, we could go swimming, kayaking, or do archery, high ropes, rock climbing, or arts and crafts. They also had a candy shop, but unfortunately, they ran out of candy by the time camp ended. We also went on a field trip to a rock climbing gym. It was awesome! There were about 35 different trails that we could go in, and I went on about 7 of them. They were challenging but fun!
