July 8 It s not about you! (Jeremiah preach) July 15 Remember where your strength comes from. July 22 Remember the three most important things. July 29 There will always be enough. THE PASTOR S PEN Hello beloved community! Let me begin by saying what a blessing it is to have been reappointed to this wonderful congregation! Each of you makes this community a beautiful tapestry and it is has blessed my life to be one of your pastors. The theme for this year s Annual conference was Living into Beloved Community, and as a part of this joint conference we created a new community. After many years of discernment and planning, on June 9th 2018 the Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone Annual conferences were united as the Mountain Sky Annual Conference. In a time in which there is so much division and polarization, it was a spirit filled occasion to unite these two historic conferences for a new future in ministry. Amidst this historic Annual Conference, the elected lay delegates and youth of our congregation were a point of personal pride. Both our youth, and lay delegates worked very hard, and took the (seemingly never ending) legislative sessions seriously. Beloved Community of FUMC, rest assured that you were well represented! It is also noteworthy to lift up that our youth who were very visible in leadership positions throughout the conference. I would also like to boast about those who kept the home fires burning while we were away. Steve and I have heard a ton of great things about the lay led worship service well done! Thank you to all of you who helped either at conference or here at home! The creation of this new conference has connected the people of bustling cites, barren plains, and high mountains. People with a rich diversity of backgrounds have come together with a common vision for how to better share Christ s love in a changing world. In this union there is the lesson that unity does not equal uniformity. We are capable of standing together united, despite the places where we see the world differently. Within our own congregation we have seen this same vision as a reality. Even in the places where we may be divided in thought, we continue to laugh in worship, serve our brothers and sisters of our community in mission, and welcome new members into our fellowship. That is certainly something that we can, and should celebrate! It is through YOU that God breathes new life into this church, amidst a world filled with dry bones! May we continue to be a church that sees itself as a life spring to our world, and welcome to a new future as a part of the Mountain Sky Conference! FUMC Loveland had several representatives attending the Mountain Sky annual conference! READ the thoughts from two attendees -- Gene Clarke and Ann Kessler -- online at: Rev. Jeremiah Harris
3 FUMC NEWS FAITH DAY WITH THE ROCKIES BASEBALL TEAM The Colorado Rockies invite you to the 14th Annual Colorado Rockies Faith Day at Coors Field! This year s event will take place on Sunday, July 29. We are pleased to announce Passion featuring Kristian Stanfill will be this year s musical guest! In addition, we will be joined by Rockies players in a post-game interview! For over ten years now, this post-game event has been a fan favorite, and we are looking forward to another big day. Besides being a great outreach opportunity, Faith Day offers Colorado churches and Christians from all over the state the chance to come together for a time of fellowship at the ballpark! RSVP with Ann Kessler at akessler@fumcloveland.com for group ticket pricing before July 8. THE TIMES ARE A CHANGING! Times are a changing! New time schedule for Sunday Morning Hospitality Hour will be from 9:30-11:00 am in Coy Hall. As Methodists, we enjoy our coffee and snacks while catching up with friends and making new ones. Please feel free to grab a cup of coffee and a snack after the first service and stay until the start of the last service. Have you ever wondered who provides all the delicious refreshments? Refreshments are provided by various groups, committees or individuals. We are always in need of folks to help with this part of Hospitality, and there is a sign-up sheet at the Ask Me Desk. Have you ever wondered who brews the coffee? For years, FUMC has been blessed with a group of people that have prepared the coffee each Sunday morning for our enjoyment. Now, we are in need of individuals who will take this over on a given Sunday. Remember, I mentioned times are a changing! The Finchams are stepping down after years of serving and The Ladies, Marilyn Hagan, Marcia Yoder, and Virginia Brant are taking the summer off. Colleen Cameron and Betsy Elliott have been serving on the fifth Sunday of the month, plus several others have volunteered throughout the years. We need several people to help continue this wonderful fellowship hour. If you are interested in brewing the coffee on Sundays or if you are willing to serve in the kitchen one Sunday, Angie Clarke at laaggie71@yahoo.com or call her at (970) MISSIONS STARTS HOME This in-home missions project is in need of more volunteers. We give help with cleaning projects for our church family and friends who find it difficult to do the work themselves. This could include yard work, inside cleaning, and simple projects in or around a home. Please consider becoming a part of this team. Signup at the Ask Me Desk or contact Julie Monroe at newmonroe1@yahoo. com. Be sure to include your phone number and address. Like good stewards of the serve manifold grace of God, one another with whatever gift each of you has received. 1 Peter 4:8 Page 3
