1 Our Saviour s Parish National Catholic Church of the PNCC Parafia Naszego Zbawiciela Polskiego Narodowego Kościoła Katolickiego Rev. Henryk Wos, Pastor WEEKLY BULLETIN - Year B 2015 October 25th - XXX Sunday in Ordinary Time Mass in Contemporary Rite -Page 63 (Children Mass) On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he (Barthimae us) began to cry out and say, "Jesus, son of David, have pity on me." Mark 10:47 Our Saviour's Parish Polish National Catholic Church 500 Smithfield Road Woonsocket, RI Phone: Website:
2 1 st Reading: Jeremiah 31:7-9 Thus says the LORD: Shout with joy for Jacob, exult at the head of the nations; proclaim your praise and say: The LORD has delivered his people, the remnant of Israel. Behold, I will bring them back from the land of the north; I will gather them from the ends of the world, with the blind and the lame in their midst, the mothers and those with child; they shall return as an immense throng. They departed in tears, but I will console them and guide them; I will lead them to brooks of water, on a level road, so that none shall stumble. For I am a father to Israel, Ephraim is my firstborn. Responsorial Psalm: PS 126:1-2, 2-3, 4-5, 6 R. The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy. When the LORD brought back the captives of Zion, we were like men dreaming. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with rejoicing. R. The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy. Then they said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad indeed. R. The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy. Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like the torrents in the southern desert. Those that sow in tears shall reap rejoicing. R. The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy. Although they go forth weeping, carrying the seed to be sown, They shall come back rejoicing, carrying their sheaves. R. The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy. 2 nd Reading: Hebrews 5:1-6 Brothers and sisters: Every high priest is taken from among men and made their representative before God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. He is able to deal patiently with the ignorant and erring, for he himself is beset by weakness and so, for this reason, must make sin offerings for himself as well as for the people. No one takes this honor upon himself but only when called by God, just as Aaron was. In the same way, it was not Christ who glorified himself in becoming high priest, but rather the one who said to him: You are my son: this day I have begotten you; just as he says in another place: You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek..
3 R. Alleluia, alleluia. Our Savior Jesus Christ destroyed death and brought life to light through the Gospel R. Alleluia, alleluia. Gospel: Mark 10: As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus, sat by the roadside begging. On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, "Jesus, son of David, have pity on me." And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he kept calling out all the more, "Son of David, have pity on me." Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called the blind man, saying to him, "Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you." He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus. Jesus said to him in reply, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man replied to him, "Master, I want to see." Jesus told him, "Go your way; your faith has saved you." Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way. For Reflection: Do you remember when you were a baby? One thing I know about babies from my own experience is that they are not shy when it comes to letting you know when they want something. They will let you know when they are hungry, thirsty, sick, tired, or wet. A baby lets you know these things by crying. The baby doesn't care if you are in church, at a movie, or eating dinner in a fine restaurant. If a baby wants or needs something, you are going to hear about it. As we get older, we learn to be more reserved about making our wants and wishes known. In today s gospel we heard the story about a man who was not at all bashful about letting Jesus know that he needed something.
4 Jesus and his disciples had spent some time in the city of Jericho. As they were leaving town, a blind man by the name of Bartimaeus was sitting beside the road. When he heard the people saying that Jesus was approaching, he began to cry out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" His crying out disturbed the people around him. "Be quiet!" they yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" When Jesus heard Bartimaeus crying out, he stopped and said, "Tell him to come to me." So they called the blind man. "Cheer up," they said. "Come on, Jesus is calling you to come to him. Bartimaeus jumped up, threw aside his coat, and went to Jesus. "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked. "I want to see," Bartimaeus answered. "Go," Jesus said. "Your faith has healed you." Instantly Bartimaeus could see and he followed Jesus down the road. Can you imagine a mother hearing her baby cry and just ignoring it? A mother will do whatever she can to find out what her baby wants or needs and tend to that need. Can you imagine God knowing that we have a need and ignoring it? God loves his children and wants what is best for them. The Bible says, "Don t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." (Philippians 4:6) When you have a need in your life, don't be shy. Speak up! Remember what Jesus said. "I will do whatever you ask in my name." (John 14:13) Let us pray: Heavenly Father, we know that you love your children and want what is best for them. Help us to remember that we need not worry about anything. All we need to do is to ask in Jesus' name. Amen.
