1 October 2016 Here to Zehr Carmel Christian Church 463 East Main Street, Carmel, IN Monday morning I threw my back out and was flat on the floor for most of the day. It s Tuesday and I am in the office this morning thanks to some good muscle relaxers. This experience reminds me how quickly we can go from feeling great to being on the floor in excruciating pain in seconds. How easy we take health and life for granted until we don t have it. I know I will be better by tomorrow but I hope in the future days I will be more appreciative of the things I take for granted. Our church council met last Sunday and when Karl gave us the financial report in which we heard that for the first two months we are above in our projected giving, we all wanted to cheer. Mark Carfanga, our Council chairperson, remarked he couldn t remember a time when we had two months, especially in July and August, when we are such good financial shape as a church. Thank you for your generosity and support of the ministries of our church. Finally, we would love to get the carpet replaced in the fellowship hall this fall. We have $5100 donated and we need $7300. If you could make a donation to our Cut a Rug fund, make your check out to the church and put carpet fund or Cut a Rug fund in the memo line. This Sunday I will continue my sermon series The Energy of Love with my message Loving Beyond Heaven and Hell. Be Courageous, Pastor Jerry Our church will have a Prayer Wall up for 40 days before the election of our new president of the United States. Why? This year's election is causing anxiety and mistrust. We know neither political party has a monopoly on faith and we have members of both parties in our congregation. Our church wants to be a voice for unity, not division. We are not political, so our Prayer Wall is a place to add your personal prayer to God in your words for your desires for peace and hope for our nation.

Your donation will go towards helping over 1.0 Billion people who lack food and clean water around the world, as well as towards helping (through the Good Samaritan Network) over 27,000 people in Hamilton County who don't know when or how they will get their next meal. This is just a quick reminder of the FOOD DRIVE that is a part of the CROP Walk taking place this weekend. The food will be taken to Angel's Attic in Westfield. Do you realize how many people in Hamilton County are hungry? So many of us just take it for granted that Hamilton County is such an affluent county that no one goes without -- well, that's just a myth. We must take the responsibility of taking care of those who have so much less than we do. There are children and adults who have so little, yet are forgotten. PLEASE pick up a few extra cans or boxes of non-perishable food when you go to the store this week and bring them with you to share!! And remember, it's not only for this week, but a reminder to bring just ONE item each week. We are such a wonderfully giving congregation and we share willingly. God bless!!! Can you spend a couple of hours (between 8 [or so] to 11 a.m.) sharing your time and ability (you can wash dishes or serve or cook or just smile and be encouraging) to make some Indy eastsiders feel the love? Smiles and words of encouragement are SO important to these folks, so give Mike Ainley a call and let him know you're willing to share your time. (Carpooling can be available so you don't have to drive by yourself.) See you there!
