2 KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS NEWS: A 1st degree will be held at our Sept. 16 th meeting. If you have signed up and have not had the 1 st degree, please contact Andy Wilson We have a lecture program as part of our meetings. Our membership is full of interesting people with interesting subjects. Contact our Grand Knight, Shawn Scherr with your suggestions. We are in the process of planning breakfasts and other events for the year. We are in need of captains to head these projects. Council meetings for this year will be held on the 1 st and 3 rd Mondays of each month, except if Monday is a holiday, the meeting will be on Tuesday, all to start at 7:30 pm. The CWL Clothing Depot is in need of Christmas items in the way of decorations or small items that can be used as gifts. They are always in need of clothing of all types, shoes, toys, children s books, CD s & DVD s, games, puzzles and small household items. Please save your tabs from aluminum cans for Ronald McDonald House, as they use these profits for the purchase of wheelchairs. ECUMENISM (CHRISTIAN UNITY): Are you interested in learning more about other churches? Could you help restore the unity of the church? Would you like to join a new ecumenical committee at Holy Family? The Catholic Church prays and works together with other Christians "that all may be one" according to the prayer of Jesus. We are called by God to build up the visible unity of the Church through dialogue, work for justice, charity, study, and prayer. HOLY FAMILY CATHEDRAL 2014 ITALY PILGRIMAGE Is a trip to Italy on your bucket list???? Why not consider joining Fr. David and pilgrims from Holy Family on a 10 day pilgrimage to Italy in the fall of 2014? This fun-filled trip combines the majestic artwork of Churches and chapels with other Italian treasures and the ever-popular good food and wine. You will spend time at St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museum as well as visiting Circus Maximus and the Colosseum. We will visit Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis and tour the Basilica of Francis and also visit the birthplace of St Catherine of Siena. In Florence we will tour the Academy Gallery to see Michelangelo's world-famous statue of David as well as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Del Fiore. Into the region of Tuscany we will learn of the art of wine making and sample some of the most bold and wonderful red wines produced in the world. From Florence we will journey to Venice and an opportunity to take part in a Gondola cruise as well as visiting St. Mark's Basilica and Square. A day trip into Switzerland and a visit to the resort city of Lugano will highlight the final day before celebrating a final farewell dinner in Milan. This tour is presented in partnership with Collette Vacations. An informational evening on this tour will take place on Monday, September 23 at 7:00 pm in the Church. Ashley from Collette Vacations will be present to answer questions and share more information regarding the trip including possible dates, costs and optional tour excursions. All are welcome. CHRIST CENTRED YOGA: For in Him we live and move and have our being Acts 17:28 In Saskatoon, we have a number of people teaching Christ-centered yoga under different brand names such as Holy Yoga and Trinity Yoga. Because we share the intention to honour Jesus, we have decided to collaborate, support and promote each other s classes. We think it s what Jesus would do. These Christ-centered classes will help us to understand how we can use our minds, bodies, and spirits to relax and become more receptive to God in our lives. The RC Diocese of Saskatoon through the Foundations program, Exploring Our Faith Together, will sponsor classes at St. Anne s and The Cathedral of the Holy Family. The classes will be Beginner/Level One using breath and some primary yoga poses. A variety of additional classes at varying levels will also be offered. Join us for a free introductory Christ-centered yoga class to be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Family at 9:30 am on Saturday, September 14, 2013 along with registration for fall classes. Executive Director, Lynda Brazeau will be speaking to PPC about the needs of the FI in addition to providing food service volunteers. As result of this conversation, PPC will be setting new goals for 2014 as part of our five year shared vision. MOM'S MORNING OUT (MMO): (9:30-12:00): Hi Moms, Child Care Providers and Baby Cuddlers! Hope everyone had a wonderful summer!! Our MMO group Tuesday Sept 17 session will be for registering, visiting and planning of upcoming sessions!! The Sept Dec seasonal fee is $20, Jan-June seasonal fee is $30 and the drop in fee is $5/ session. The fees go toward child care providing, shared snacks, supplies for both our children and mom projects, cooking supplies and special guests, etc. We have a wonderful group of returning moms, children, babies, baby cuddlers and child care providers. Our group continues to grow and have new participants joining every month! MMO is organized by volunteer moms who participate in the group. Regular and drop-in participation is welcomed!! See you there! ART & ENVIRONMENT: The A & E team will express in a visual way gratitude for the harvest. Things like sheaves of grain and produce of all kinds are sacred signs and most suitable to the liturgical space. Please bring decorative items such as gourds, Chinese lantern, potted fall asters, and more importantly we would like some of your best carrots, beets, potatoes (washed please) and also pumpkins, heads of cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini. Afterwards, items will be donated to The Friendship Inn. Please bring these items to the Welcome Area by Friday Oct. 11th by 10am. Thank you! Taize Prayer for Christian Unity will be held in the Queen of Peace Chapel at the Cathedral of the Holy Family on Tuesday, September 17 from 7:30-8:30pm. Taize Prayer originated in Taize, France. As a prayer form, Taize has grown in popularity the world over. Typically offered in retreat houses, Taize is making its way into the corporate prayer life of churches and offers Christians of all stripes and colours the opportunity to pray together. The diocesan consultation structure has three levels: the parish, the deanery and the diocese. There are seven deaneries in the diocese. Each Parish Pastoral Council is encouraged to appoint a deanery representative who attends deanery meetings for their area of the diocese. Deanery councils regularly receive information and provide feedback to the Bishop. Saskatoon City Deanery will meet 7 pm, Tuesday, September 17 at St. Michael s Church (18 33rd St. E.).
