4 GROUP ACTIVITIES Come Celebrate at our Lutheran Heritage Potluck!!! You might be a Lutheran if... You hold your hymnal open during the entire service, but never look down. The only open pew is up front, so you volunteer to shovel the walk. You doodle on the back of communion cards. Ole and Lena are really the names of your relatives. Come experience the subtle evangelism found only at a traditional Lutheran potluck dinner to be held after second service Sunday, November 2nd. We all gotta eat, right? So, what s better than strolling through a line of scrumptious homemade goodies? A second trip, of course! Please bring your own table service and one or two of your favorite dishes to share. We guarantee great conversation and light entertainment, all enjoyed in the company of others who know that special feeling that is being Lutheran! Oh, and we may be Lutherans, but that doesn t mean you should bring lutefisk. Uff da! Prayer Chain What is a Prayer Chain? A prayer chain is an opportunity for individuals to remember others in prayer. At Augustana we are starting an electronic prayer chain. How does it work? Those who wish to be partners in praying for those who request prayer are asked to notify the church office via e- mail of their desire to participate. Anyone asking for prayer will also be asked to notify the church office. The office will send out the prayer requests via and members are then asked to pray for those requests. WELCA NEWS WELCA Circles meet the third week of the month. The Bible study theme this year is Transforming Life and Faith. Please attend, all are welcome!! Esther Circle Wed. The quilts will be packed for shipment on Monday, October 13, Watch the bulletin for the time. Helpers are needed. Join the fun if you are able. THANKS to everyone who had a part in the Fall Salad Supper. It was well attended with good food, good company, and good program. Church Women United Human Rights/World Community Day Friday, November 7, Host: First United Methodist Church Program: Lavonne Shearer Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp Quilt Auction Results This year s Quilt Auction held in August, raised $49,502. ELCA Good Gifts IT S STARTED ALREADY. Charlie Brown hasn t even had time to think about waiting for the great pumpkin to appear on Halloween and the merchants are already advertising for everyone to start their Christmas shopping early. As we begin to think about preparations for the coming season of thankfulness and gift giving, it might be a good time to think about giving a gift to help those in need in places around the world. Have you ever thought of giving chickens or a pig to some one? Maybe this is the year to try it. Watch for more details. October
