Youth Sunday Sunday, August 5, 11 a.m. Join us this Sunday as we learn what it means to be change(d) in our communities, in our spot, and in our church....but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern the will of God-what is good, and acceptable, and perfect. Hear from our youth the ways they have been renewed, the discernment they have received, and how they were transformed through their travels this summer. The youth traveled to Arkansas where they stayed at Ferncliff camp and conference center and Heifer Ranch, where they did mission work and learned about global poverty and who holds the power in our world. Our high school youth traveled to Tulsa, OK for Synod youth workshop where they learned what it meant to be change(d). Our youth will lead worship and will be joined by guest musicians RileyRiley. Katie and Makenna Riley are a Christian Contemporary sister-duet who perform across the DFW area at local coffeehouses, churches, and special events. Blessing of the Backpacks Sunday, August 19, 11 a.m. Mark Your Calendars! Rally Day All-Church Breakfast Sunday, September 9, 9:45 a.m. Rally Day marks the new church calendar year and has been set for Sunday, September 9. Please mark your calendars and plan on joining us for the All-Church Breakfast and Sunday School Kickoff with fun, food and fellowship as we begin another year growing together in faith! Going back to school is a big event in the lives of children, teachers, parents and the church! All students regardless of age and educators are invited to bring their backpacks, laptops or lunchboxes to church for a special blessing. The Sunday School year officially begins on Sunday, September 16, at 9:45 a.m. 3

The Session is functionally divided under the three elements of our motto: Feel the Love, Be the Love and Make the Love Possible. FPC SMALL GROUPS There are many reasons to join a Small Group at FPC.

Ruling Elders are nominated from and elected by our congregation and serve for a period of three years, during which time they oversee committees, which anyone can join. The Session is functionally divided under the three elements of our motto: Feel the Love, Be the Love and Make the Love Possible. FPC SMALL GROUPS There are many reasons to join a Small Group at FPC. Fellowship, encouragement, support, prayer, acceptance fun and food are generously offered. Try one on for size! Koinonia usually meets the 3rd Sunday of each month. Feel the Love will meet August 26 at 12:15 p.m. The Christian Education (CE), Worship, and Fellowship Committees meet on an as-needed basis. Christian Education plans and prepares our education offerings for adults, youth and children. Contact: Erika Nannis The Worship Committee facilitates the Sunday worship service and also helps prepare for special services. Contact : Julie Rowan The Fellowship Committee manages a full calendar of opportunities Older, Wiser, Livelier to share Souls fellowship with one another, including picnics, potlucks, breakfasts, dinner and a movie night, Halloween parties, Easter Egg Hunts and Birthday Sundays. The same bonds that link us to Jesus also link us to other faithful. Koinonia meets the third Sunday of each month, usually at 6:00 p.m. The Member Care and Hospitality Committee will meet August 26 at 12:15 p.m.. They usually meet the fourth Sunday of each month. O.W.L.S. usually meets the 4th Sunday of each Month but will not meet in August. The Older, Wiser, Livelier, Souls Small Group meets the fourth Sunday of each month, usually at 6:00 p.m. The Finance Committee meets August 14 at 4:00 p.m. The Finance Committee usually meets the second Tuesday of each month. DAYS OF OUR LIVES Serving Our Neighbors Camp S.O.N. (Serving Our Neighbors) camp was held the last week of June. We had over 15 children including the youngsters and a few great youth helpers.

7 DAYS OF OUR LIVES Serving Our Neighbors Camp S.O.N. (Serving Our Neighbors) camp was held the last week of June. We had over 15 children including the youngsters and a few great youth helpers. The children made many crafts including dog and cat toys for the shelter, welcome cards for new residents that pass their citizenship test, flowers to adorn the trays of Meals on Wheels (MOW) recipients and bookmarks for the mothers of new babies welcoming them to our wonderful world. They wrote inspirational messages for our congregants outside the church to welcome them on Sunday morning. We visited Liberty Heights and talked about their and our pets with the residents and delivered MOWs to delighted seniors. Patriot Paws came and demonstrated the training process and explained that the dogs actually choose the veterans! We had lessons about what it means to be good neighbors and to serve our neighbors and we learned a song (This Little Light of Mine). The children also enjoyed purely fun stuff like ice cream cones at DQ, water sponge toss, cheetos toss onto shaving cream heads (you ll have to ask one of the children!) and bowling and pizza at Sheniganz with the Boys and Girls Club. An enriching and rewarding week for ALL who attended!! 7
