In the January newsletter, the group s 14 answers were reported. It was relatively easy work on January 13 th for the group to agree to a single answer. The point of St. Paul, Manawa is to lead people of all ages to know Christ. The group discussed that all the 14 answers were either a restatement of this answer or were included by this answer. For example, one of the other answers was to teach the Word of God, which if St. Paul does this then the people who are being taught the Word of God will be led to know Christ. If this all seems like an exercise of obvious things and that time is being wasted, let it be acknowledged that if the effort is started for a long range plan with different goals and ideas about what God put St. Paul here in Manawa to do for the people here, then a cohesive, comprehensive, and cooperative long range plan will be impossible to put together. As Pastor Reichle listened to the group agree to this single answer, he remembered his experience of receiving and deciding on St. Paul s call to him to be pastor here. Pastor Reichle had previously served a congregation called, Shepherd of the Hills. When the name Shepherd of the Hills is said, it gives an idea of what that congregation does: it shepherds people. It puts in mind the idea of a shepherd taking care of, feeding, protecting, and leading sheep. St. Paul called Pastor Reichle and the question about what does St. Paul do came to mind. St. Paul the Apostle was converted to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, God s Messiah, around 3 years after Jesus died and rose. St. Paul had previously thought wrongly about who Jesus was but by God s revelation on the road to Damascus and in the Old Testament and from the witness of believers, St. Paul was led to know Christ. And then St. Paul was sent to speak the Gospel about Jesus to other nations. The answer the group agreed to is a clear summary of what happened to St. Paul and of what St. Paul accomplished during his life. St. Paul led people of all ages to know Christ. The Long Range Plan Committee is now working out the process that will achieve this goal. It will be a process that flows logically, is implemented in each area of the church, and will keep us from doing things that are not a part of the process. This process will be the long range plan that the committee will propose to the congregation. This proposed process may include activities that we are already familiar with in the historic ministry of St. Paul, Manawa. It may also include new and unfamiliar activities, changes to activities, and ends to familiar activities. All for the goal of leading people of all ages to know Christ.

3 The St. Paul Messenger Page 3 Meet our Staff... During the month of February, I always take time to thank the staff members serving at St. Paul. These individuals dedicate their time and talents to the ministry of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School. Mrs. Becky Griesbach is our preschool teacher this year. Mrs. G brings excitement, creativity and passion to our preschool program. Many days Mrs. Griesbach can be found in the middle of a circle with little ones surrounding her. She is a great teacher for children to begin their road of education. Mrs. Debbie Hintz is our kindergarten teacher who does an amazing job with the young students within her classroom. If anyone would walk into our kindergarten classroom, you would know that the first steps of learning for the young children of St. Paul are in good hands. She is also consistently thinking of new ways for our school to serve others. Mrs. Teri Rae Suehs is our first grade teacher as well as our art and computer teacher. She does an amazing job juggling all of the roles that she fulfills at St. Paul. Our art room is productive and full of excitement, due to her sensational ideas. Mrs. Lori Elmhorst is our part time first grade teacher. Mrs. Elmhorst brings eagerness and enthusiasm into the first grade room. She is a dedicated individual, who wants the best for her students. Ms. Brenda Jenks is our second grade teacher and one of the most dedicated and hardworking teachers that I have ever met and that dedication and passion for teaching has truly changed the lives of many students. Ms. Jenks has an extensive library, where students are constantly reading and finding their next good book. Mrs. Rachel Beyer is the third and fourth grade teacher that makes the transition to the upstairs especially easy for the students. She is a caring teacher that brings excitement into the classroom. Mrs. Beyer is a favorite to many students because of her compassion and kindness toward them. Mr. Joshua Korotka is the fifth and sixth grade homeroom teacher, as well as the science teacher for the upper grades. He also puts much time and effort into the girls basketball program as one of the coaches. Mr. Korotka is a busy man around St. Paul, serving as a teacher, father, coach and referee. We are also blessed with a Christ-filled leaders, Pastor Reichl. I have worked with many pastors throughout my years in the ministry, and this man ranks very high on that list. We also have Mrs. Clarissa Fradrich who began teaching PE classes this year. She does a outstanding job teaching basic skills to younger students as well as teaching lifetime activities to the older students. Mr. Jim Quinn teaches music to the students at school. He does an amazing job teaching musical rhythm, notes and rests, musical appreciation and choral instruction. We also have two wonderful secretaries. Mrs. Lori Hass and Mrs. Kay Peterson, who make sure that our church and school run efficiently. We are also blessed with a dedicated custodial staff of Mrs. Connie Klotzbuecher and Mrs. Becky Schertz that clean our church and school. They are dedicated women who take pride in the appearance of our building. Mrs. Schertz also fills a vital role of being our classroom aide. She helps students in the kindergarten and 3/4 th grade classrooms. Last but not least is our cook, Mrs. Hannah Peters. Mrs. Peters makes sure that our student s tummies are full and milk is always available. Beyond these individuals, we are blessed with numerous volunteers who make our school a special place all coordinated by Mrs. Audrey Suehs. If you see one of these people, please thank them for the amazing job that they are doing to extend His ministry.
