Mustering the mettle of all social movements, eco-philosopher Joanna Masey fires back on that question with the age-old rejoinder Just keep going. There is so much happening on the grassroots level. This documentary aims to inspire the widescale adoption of renewable power. There will be no Food for the Soul on May 20th. Mother s Day May 13th ALL women of MCC are honored on Mother s Day for their roles as nurturers, teachers, role models, etc. Each woman will receive a small token of appreciation at the May 13th worship. Pentecost Sunday May 20th Joint Worship and Potluck Lunch On Sunday, May 20th, Historic Second Christian Church will worship at Midway Christian Church for our annual Pentecost celebration. Each year we worship together on Pentecost to celebrate our beginnings as brothers and sisters in faith. Pastor Rick Smith will be preaching, and we will have a potluck lunch following the service. Everyone is invited to please bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share. Consecration Sunday May 27th As we continue to live out our vision of becoming a more Christ-centered, welcoming community of faith, we realize that part of achieving this vision is becoming better stewards of the generous and plentiful gifts and resources that God blesses us with as people of faith. The Finance Committee is asking that you place your estimated giving cards in the offering plate on Consecration Day, May 27th, as a sign of your commitment and your response to God s grace that has been shown to you as a child of God. Endowment Fund Harvest Church Business The Admin Team, on March 18, voted unanimously to harvest $25,000 from the gains on the church s endowment funds to cover several unusual expenses related to the maintenance and improvements of the church building and/or equipment. A 75% vote of the full church board is needed to proceed with this. Per our bylaws, the Board votes on this matter both on April 8th and May 6th. Homeplace Worship Postponed Due to scheduling conflicts, we will NOT be taking worship to the Homeplace on May 27th. (We normally do the 4th Sunday of odd-numbered months)

Northside Elementary has begun the process of collecting bottle caps for one of these benches for their school. Midway Christian s Green Chalice is working with Northside to help them complete their bench. They need 400 lbs. of plastic bottle caps, and right now, they are at a little over 300 lbs. They will take all kinds of clean caps and lids with recycle numbers 2, 4, & 5 on them (not 1, 3, 6, or 7). See the attached list of acceptable caps and lids. There will be a receptacle in Fellowship Hall. Once this project is complete, the collecting of plastic bottle caps will be an on-going project for our Green Chalice. The hope is to create benches for our church, the Midway Community and Christmount. If you have any questions, please see Heather or Adele.
