There s so much to look back on and often times so little knowledge of what comes next. So, let s gather as a single Body in the Church and help our graduates look forward to what God is up to next, where God has been during their time at these schools, and celebrate how God is with them now! 4 UNITED CHRISTIAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP There are a ton of camps this summer! Chances for families, grandparents and their grandchildren, and every age for our children are available. If you have the itch to spend some time at camp this summer, let s find you something exciting, relaxing, or somewhere in between. No matter the camp, we know God will use them for life changing fun and growth. Here are a few that we re particularly excited about: JYF CAMP - Grades 3-5. July 2-6 and August 6-10 at Disciples Crossing in Athens. CHI RHO CAMP - Grades 6 & 7. June 11-16, July at Disciples Crossing in Athens. EIGHTER'S YOUTH CONFERENCE - Grade 8. AKA The birds and the bees camp June at Disciples Crossing in Athens. WATER SPORTS CAMP - Grades No previous water sports experience is required but youth do need to be strong swimmers. July 30 August 3 at Disciples Crossing in Athens. ADDaM CAMP - Grades ADDaM Camp (Art, Drama, Dance, and Music) is a 7 day adventure for high school aged campers. Our very own Rev. Dr. Suzanne Castle will be doing the choreography for this camp and can help bring youth out and back! June at Disciples Crossing in Athens. SCHOLARSHIPS - Scholarships are always available! For all camps, we are covering 50% of the early bird price. If you need financial assistance to attend a camp, contact Nick directly or leave a message with the church office. We want you and your youth to join us, and we especially want to make sure everyone gets as many chances as possible for a life changing summer!

Youth Sunday at the Parish April 22nd The Mission Trip for this year is the Blue Theology Project, half a block from the bay in Monterey, California!

5 Youth Sunday at the Parish April 22nd The Mission Trip for this year is the Blue Theology Project, half a block from the bay in Monterey, California! We will be there from July 13 th to the 18 th this summer. I am excited to learn about what Jesus Church is called into as we care for the earth and see some of God s creation. Whales, kayaking, oceans, a giant aquarium, beaches, worship, scenes from John Steinbeck s books (we ll be on Cannery Row!), and more will be there to explore! We re working on fundraising for the trip and have plenty of ways to help support our youth who wouldn t otherwise get such an awesome chance! On April 29 th, following the worship service, we will have a chili and pie cook off at FUMC. Come with your best chili or pie and see how it measures up. The chili and pie with the most donations will be given a highly sought after trophy and bragging rights for best chili and/or pie in Jacksboro. Many more projects will be occurring as the time for our mission trip comes closer. Look out in May for a car wash sponsored by the youth! In June, expect a sing off in the churches, and service projects in early part of the summer. More info will be given in worship, in the newsletters, and on the UCYF and Parish facebook pages as this time comes closer. We also appreciate any donations to our mission fund outside of these opportunities. Please write Blue Theology in the memo line for checks and we ll add it to the fund! Thank you and God bless you!

Just a reminder to let Suzanne know if you/your child/youth is ready to go through confirmation (for those baptized as infants) or baptism class. We will be scheduling the baptisms on Pentecost Sunday and our classes are starting soon! Save the Dates! Every Wednesday in June, Jayme and her team of volunteers will be taking up to 20 children K 5th grade on adventurous field trips for our WWW program! Please contact the church office if you are able to volunteer. Sign ups begin soon!

7 The Parish July Meet Daniel and hear his story! Torn away from his homeland and forced into service of a foreign king, he maintained his steadfast faith in God in a godless culture. His friends survived the fiery furnace and Daniel survived the lions' den, and God was with them through it all! Volunteer sign ups will be begin soon. Pray about how you can help! Questions? 10 MDO Xtreme We welcomed Spring by learning about rainbows, St. Patrick s Day, Palm Sunday, and Easter! Our older classes learned that God gave us the rainbow as a promise and learned that Jesus is our Risen Savior. Each class participated in dying and/or painting boiled eggs as well as creating art that focused on the true meaning of Easter. Due to the weather, our egg hunts were conducted in our newly renovated Fellowship Hall and the kids had a blast! We re excited about even more Spring activities coming up in April. We have a few spots available for enrollment and will soon be announcing our Summer plans!

12 A Word From Our Minister What is Soul Support? A group of women who meet during the lunch hour on the 3rd Wednesday of the month who gather for reflection, prayer and support. We always have our meal hosted for us. We have someone who brings great content that makes us think, laugh and go deeper into our faith. During our last Soul Support gathering, we were talking about spiritual practice of GRATITUDE and gratitude journaling. As we were discussing how we are/are not grateful, and full of joy in every season of our lives, one of the gathered reflected that the process of our building project was full of gratitude. How years ago, it felt all was lost. How years ago both congregations in one way or another were in mere survival mode. How suddenly in giving away what we had (i.e., losing our lives) we were gaining joy, unity and mission. It s so true, isn t it? Jesus reminds us as his followers: If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it. Mt. 10:39, New Living Translation In a few weeks we will have our building dedication and celebration. So many have contributed time, prayers, money and sweat equity. The community of Jacksboro is buzzing about our building and what is forthcoming. We are full of zeal as we share more and more of our saved resources to be meaningful in service in this time and in this place. Losing our life has led to a newfound energy for the sharing of the gospel. And I am full of gratitude. Continuing to support our ongoing vision is crucial at this time when we are operating under a unified budget and when we are beginning the process to completely unify as a congregation. Continuing to pray for us, for what God asks of us and where God is leading us is an important daily prayer that will help us all remain steadfast in this time and place. Thank you for the privilege of serving alongside you. What a mighty God we serve! Suzanne
