1 What s On Autumn / Winter 2017
2 INTRODUCTION When you re reading this, I hope we will be enjoying some beautiful autumn colours. Welcome to our latest offering of What s On at the Abbey. Later this September, we are proud to host, now in its 65th year, the famous Hexham Abbey Festival with a host of recitals, concerts and family fun things to do. A broad array of events follows as we enter the more reflective month of November - which ends on our patron saint s day, St Andrew s Day, 30 November - and then begin to look ahead to Advent and Christmas. Many of us are so tied up with breathlessly chasing time that seems to fly. It s easily done: not being where we are, already onto the next thing. We can all do with knowing time more by its content than its duration, by its quality rather than its quantity. I hope some of what we have to offer at the Abbey will help each of us to find that special space for ourselves where we can simply be. 2 Canon Dagmar Winter - Rector Upcoming Events Phelps Organ Performance Saturday 16th 6.00pm The Phelps series concludes with a performance by Stephen Farr (St Paul s, Knightsbridge) Free admission retiring collection Venue: The Abbey Screen@6 Saturday 16th September, 6.00pm Why wait until Sunday to get together?
