The remaining dates that we have available are March 13, March 27, and April 10. We have a supper scheduled on March 6 with a menu of variety of soups. On March 20 will be serving ham, beans and cornbread. On April 3we will be serving hot dogs and sloppy joes. Along with this there will be a selection of other goodies. Come enjoy the delicious food and fellowship. MOWING BID St. Peter s Trustees are requesting bids from anyone interested in mowing the church properties for the 2019 mowing season. Properties include the Church, old preschool area, parsonage, daycare, and empty lot behind daycare. Anyone who wishes to bid this job must have proof of liability insurance. Bids should include edging all sidewalks and driveways. Bids need to be sealed, and received by March 31, Bids can either be mailed to the church or placed in the trustees mailbox located in the church office. 3 THRIVENT CHOICE DOLLARS If you have a Thrivent policy, you have an opportunity to give your Choice Dollars to the church. You will need to go online to thrivent.com/thrivent choice or call and say Thrivent Choice (instructions are at either door). You will need to have this done by March 31, L.W.M.L. (LUTHERAN WOMEN MISSIONARY LEAGUE) The Prayer Service is Sunday, March 3 starting at 2:00 pm at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, North Vernon, Indiana. Also the L.W.M.L. is offering scholarships for church workers, more information can be viewed on the LWML website under resources, IN District. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 15. LUTHERAN CENTRAL SCHOOL DINNER/AUCTION TICKETS may be purchased at Lutheran Central School. The cost of each ticket is $ 30. There is a limited number of tickets left. While supply last. LUTHERAN MISSION FEDERATION MEETING will be held on Sunday, March 10 at 2:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church. You are invited to attend one of our Preschool and Kindergarten Open Houses to find out more about our early childhood program. The Open House is designed for parents and their children to visit the classroom, meet the teacher, and hear about our program of Christian education. Lutheran Central School will be hosting a Preschool and Kindergarten Open House on Sunday, March 3rd at 2:00 P.M. and Tuesday, March 5th at 6:30 P.M. These are identical sessions, so it is only necessary to attend one session. Registration forms and information on registration fees and tuition will be provided. 3

7 Lutheran Mission Federation Sunday March 2019 Our History On July 19, 1931 the Lutheran Mission Federation (LMF) went on the offensive for Christ. Eleven congregations from Jackson & Bartholomew counties heard the call of their Lord s words from Matthew 28, All authority in heaven & on earth has been given to me. Go therefore & make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father & of the Son & of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. With the Great Commission in their hearts & minds, this newly formed Federation set out to spread the Gospel & make new disciples throughout Southern Indiana. In its first 5 years sustained preaching stations were established in Bedford, Greensburg, Austin, Butlerville, & Weddleville while efforts in Rushville & Shelbyville were not successful. The diligent service of many pastors & laymen kept the efforts of the LMF going through the mid- 1930s & 40s when financial support dipped & war hysteria led to a faithful pastor being called a Nazi & even an FBI investigation. These setbacks did not slow down the LMF. They were undeterred. In 1944 the LMF hit smaller communities like Leesville, Kurtz, Sparksville, Medora, Mitchell, Freetown, Oolitic, Ft. Ritner, & Tampico with trailer missions. At one point, over 42 consecutive nights the Gospel was preached to 8,450 souls. Into the 1950s the LMF expanded its outreach into Madison, Scottsburg, North Vernon, Crothersville, & Salem. Many of these areas that started as preaching stations became thriving congregations that are still here today. The prayers & financial support of the LMF member congregations from 1931 to today have given it the ability to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ crucified for sinners to many people. Some planted the seed, others watered, but it has always been God who has given the increase. Of course, this remains the mission of the LMF today. Current Constitution & Activities The Lutheran Mission Federation is currently comprised of 11 congregations of the Seymour & Brownstown Circuits. Representation for the LMF includes the Pastor of each member congregation & 1 to 3 delegates. Member congregations are asked to give $5.00 per communicant member each year to fund the mission efforts of the LMF. The LMF delegate body meets semi-annually to do business. Delegates are asked to participate in subcommittees that plan for events such as the Reformation Rally, the Jackson Co. Fair Booth, the Lutheran Hour Speaker Rally, & the Reformation 500 Float (that won 1 st prize in the Oktoberfest & Fort Vallonia Days parades in 2018). The LMF also supports the Friendship Bible Study at Zion & Vacation Bible School for mission congregations. Lastly, in 2017, the LMF hosted an Every One His Witness workshop at Immanuel. 7
