3 The final two verses of Isaac Watt s timeless Lenten hymn, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross, provides a vivid picture of the personal faith response that contemplation of our Lord s suffering brings: See from His head, His hands, His feet Sorrow and love flow mingled down! Did e er such love and sorrow meet Or thorns compose so rich a crown? Were the whole realm of nature mine, That were a tribute far to small; Love so amazing, so divine, Demands my soul, my life, my all! The amazing love with which our God loves us indeed changes our perspective on life. We readily recognize Lent as a season of repentance and preparation for the observance of the Passion of our Lord. Lent is also just as much a season of refreshment and renewal. Psalm 51 rings forth with the promise of renewal that comes to those of broken spirit and a contrite heart. Create in me a clean heart O God and renew a right spirit within me. As we come before our Lord in repentance God s Word promises us a clean heart and a renewed spirit- a completely fresh start in life. In recent years the fallen and broken nature of our culture seems to be more apparent than ever before. Often my wife and I discuss the many changes in our culture away from the values of God s Word. It doesn t take much for us to lament how society is not what it once was or should be. We certainly can t change discouraging social trends in our nation overnight, but we can change our lives for the better through maturity in our faith. Discouraging social trends can even serve as a reminder to God s people of the urgency to abide in Christ in all things. With extra services and a sustained focus on renewal, Lent provides our congregation with a setting for growth and reflection in our faith. All of us at St. Peter s enter into this season of Lent from our own unique life experiences and faith history. What we all have in common is that we can benefit from a church season of repentance and spiritual renewal. As the calendar turns to March and we begin Lent, consider what growth or spiritual renewal you might commit to in your life. Also consider how your relationships with family and the body of Christ at St. Peter s may benefit from such renewal. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5 May we all bear much fruit in our interactions with one another as we seek to abide in Jesus ever more closely. In Christ, Pastor Fuller 3

6 Minutes - Trustee's Meeting Date: February 1, 2016 Mission Statement: To proclaim the Gospel message of salvation in Jesus Christ and fulfill the Great Commission of Mathew 28:19- Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Call to Order, Trustees Members present: Eric Browalski, Tyler Wessel, Todd Harrison, Marti Koop, Joe VonDielingen, Dennis Wessel, Clint Burcham, Ben Sitterding, and Mark Kiewit. Brad Pendleton and Reid Sparks excused. Welcoming of new board members, Ben Sitterding and Mark Kiewit. Reid Sparks welcomed, works nights and has agreed to Trustee membership for helping on work days. Reading of the minutes. January minutes approved. Old Business: Grounds Maintenance 1. Parking blocks to be ordered and installed at later date-plan to do on next work day Building Maintenance 1 Carpet installation.-complete and good reviews. 2. Lighting and bulbs in sanctuary-table until March. Brad and Ben getting quotes. Table until March. 3. Installation of new lighting in fellowship hall. - Looking to do on next work day/as time permits in winter. 4. Church office remodel. 1/4/17 Trustees decided to table the decision on any remodel or construction until next month. Trustees unanimously decided to allow office areas to be traded without construction in interim until any future construction. 2/1/17 Eric reported Jo Gail will start purging old items that are unused. Trustees still feel trading spots for Jo Gail and Mr. Pottschmidt is best, allowing direct visualization to outside visitors. Trustees ok d some minor construction like plug ins, etc. and trustees agreed these are ok to proceed with, will complete on next work day. Any major construction to be tabled. 5. Install of paper towel holder. -complete, thanks and good job Marti Koop!! 6 Parsonage walk through. -complete 1/19/17, no major issues noted, may need to order new appliance or two depending on plan for the building. Will need cleaned. Discussed this may need done soon. Discussed possibilities of renting. With legit concerns raised by Daycare board and others in congregation, Trustees agree all plans to move the daycare to the parsonage house are off. 7. Joe to present exterior LED lighting quotes-joe is still checking another quote, first one was high at $385.. Door latch on SW exterior door-lubricated, seemed to help with sticking, yet may need further discussion/attention in March if still issues. 6

7 New Business: 1. Outlet(s) in need of replacement located in front of church and is planned for next work day 2. Gravel needed in parking lot.-will also be put on agenda for April/Spring application, looking at prices, Ben Sitterding asking Paul Sitterding if he may consider helping again. 3. Landscape light out-planned for fix on next work day. 4. Fans in sanctuary need cleaned-planned to do along with light bulb change on next work day 5. Lights burnt out in church office need replaced-completed after meeting 6. Quotes for Daycare roof replacement- Trustees approved quote from Pray roofing for ~$8500, this includes the garage. Dennis will consult the Daycare/Daycare board for color option. 7. Security cameras need adjusted-planned for next work day. Request to move recorder and monitor-trustees all agreed this needs to be left where located Mowiing contract review-agreed to ask for bids as in past, reviews contract and approved, only adding to push mow hillside on west side next to old preschool. Round Table Discussion -Will plan work day at next meeting for Spring. -Ok d LCS Auction to use white tables at LC Auction as long as they bring back. -Discussed loose wire by altar, will fix at next work day as well Adjournment Next Meeting will be: March 1, 2016 at 7:00pm. 7

(see yellow bulletin board for details) Music of the Lenten season presented by the Kantorei of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne on Sunday, March 12 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour. Service times are 9:00 AM and 11:15 AM. 8
