If you already serve in one or more of these areas, we ask that you still submit a Time and Talent card so our record remains current. Nathan Carden A LOOK AT JANUARY 27 1,403 Worship Attendance 900 Sunday School Attendance If you were to walk into the Sanctuary on a Saturday morning, you would find a group of ladies (and a guy every now and then) creating the flower arrangement on the altar. There are about 30 of these servant ministers who do all of our flower arrangements. If you walk the children s halls on Sunday morning during the Sunday School hour and peek into a room, you will find servant volunteers teaching our children. It takes a team of about 85 adults to do this. If you wander into the church office during the week, you are likely to find a servant volunteer entering attendance into the computer or stuffing bulletins. On any given week, a team from Trinity is serving meals at the Firehouse Shelter or the Church of the Reconciler downtown. Trinity is blessed with wonderful lay servant leadership. It is what makes this church vital. Our goal at Trinity is for every member to be in ministry. We believe that all of us are gifted by God and are called by God to use those gifts in some area of ministry. The Christian life is not a spectator sport! We all are a part of the team, out on the field, doing our part. This Sunday, February 3 is CONNECT SUNDAY. You have received in the mail a copy of Connect magazine which lists dozens of areas of ministry. In the center of the magazine is a card for each of us to sign up for some area of ministry. Please take some time to look through the magazine this week. Bring your Time & Talent card with you on Sunday to dedicate during any of our worship services. To schedule an appointment please go to Enter sponsor code: SHEPARD mission & outreach BOLIVIA MISSION TRIP - JULY 2013 In early July 2013, Trinity volunteers will return to Bolivia to work with Kay Twilley, a United Methodist missionary, for a total of 8 days. The group will carry out some light construction work and help with the children in the daycare located on the property of the Methodist Church in Montero. No prior maintenance or construction experience is required and adults of all ages are welcomed. 6 Pension & Protection Act of 2006 Extended for 2013 This is great news for people wishing to make the most of their charitable giving and avoid capital gains taxes at the same time. The extension is part of the Fedreral Government s fiscal cliff. It allows for retirees to donate up to $100,000 from their individual retirement accounts to a charity tax-free. Your donations will be tax-free and will count toward the required minimum distribution that IRA holders who are 70 1/2 and older must take from their accounts each year. Trinity Prayer Garden and Columbarium Pictured Right: Prayer Garden construction on December 14, There has been major progress on the construction of the Prayer Garden and Columbarium. It will soon be complete and ready for use before spring. Niches in the Columbarium are available for current and former members of Trinity and their families. If you are interested in purchasing a niche in the Columbarium, a panel in the Memorial Wall or naming a special garden feature in honor or in memory of a loved one, please contact Ann Neptune at or her at aneptune@trinitybirmingham.com. The Prayer Garden and Columbarium is a completely self-funding project through the sale of Columbarium niches, memorials and contributions by interested persons. NICHES: As of January 1, 2013, the niches will be sold at the full price of $3,200 each. MEMORIAL PANEL: Located inside the columbarium, the Memorial Panel will be limestone with names etched into the stone. As of January 1, 2013, the Memorial Panel etchings will be sold at full price of $500 each.
