1 Announcements July 16 & 17, 2011 It is an age-old question: why is there evil in the world? In the parable of the wheat and the weeds Jesus suggests that both grow together until the harvest. With Paul, we long for the day that all creation will be set free from bondage and suffering. Having both weeds and wheat within us, we humbly place our hope in the promises of God, and from the Lord's table we go forth to bear the fruit of justice and mercy. This day the Church also remembers Bartolomé de Las Casas, missionary to the Indies, who died in A native of Spain, Las Casas first came to the Western hemisphere while serving in the military. Granted a large estate with indigenous slaves, he freed them after he was ordained a priest. He worked in the Caribbean and Central America to improve the lives of the native peoples. THE AMERICAN RED CROSS of Northern Ohio Blood Services Region is facing a critical shortage and today issued an appeal for blood and platelet donors. Many donors are busy or traveling, school is out of session, and donations in May and June dropped to the lowest levels the Red Cross has seen during this timeframe in over a dozen years. Demand for blood remained steady during this same period, which is why the Red Cross needs people now more than ever to roll up a sleeve and give as soon as possible. All types are needed, but especially O negative, which can be used to treat any patient. Trinity will host our next blood drive on Monday, July 25, from 11:30 am to 5 pm. THE GREEN TEAM is having a can drive to help benefit Trinity Youth Ministries on August 18 from 1-4 p.m. Please help us by saving your cans & drop them off to us! Trinity Youth has an account already set up at the Ashland County Recycling Center, so if at any time you would like to donate your collection of cans to Trinity Youth Ministries, just make them aware at the recycling center. If you would like to be involved with this event, which would be greatly appreciated, or have any questions, please contact Nate Ediger through church office or Julie Linder Also just a friendly Green reminder to B.Y.O.M. (Bring Your Own Mug) during church service to help cut down on Styrofoam use. :) GOLF OUTING! Lutheran Social Services of Northern Ohio will hold its 3rd-Annual Golf Classic on August 19, at Brookside Golf Course. Registration begins at 11 am.
