Though we may try to understand how the Word existed with God from the beginning of time, the wonder we celebrate at Christmas is that the Word continues to dwell among us. Christ comes among us in the gathered assembly, the scriptures, the waters of new birth, and the bread and the wine. Through these ordinary gifts we receive the fullness of God's grace and truth. SUPPER in Jack s Place this Wednesday, January 6, serving from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Menu: pizza, salad, dessert and beverage, all for $4/ adult and $2 / ages 8 years and younger. All are welcome. LUTHER CLUB: The program for Thursday, January 7 will be Samantha Loy from Lutheran Social Services. They are a fairly new ministry in the area housed in the Good Shepherd Home and they are doing some amazing things. Come hear about a wing of the Lutheran Church that has set up shop right here in the Ashland area that is serving God in powerful ways. The fine meal for the day is Shepherd s Pie, salad and dessert. Please make your reservations by noon on Tuesday, January 5 by calling the church office ( ). CALLING ALL TRINITY WOMEN! The excitement and joy of the Christmas season is still with us! This is your invitation to join the Women's Chorus as we continue to lift our hearts and voices into a bright, new year. We will perform on Sunday, January 17 during the 10:45 a.m. sanctuary service. Rehearsals will be in the choir loft at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 7; Tuesday, January 12 & Thursday, January 14. We also have the joy of participating in the Northeastern Ohio Synod s Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Service at Our Savior s Lutheran up north in Rocky River that Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. (Trinity s other choirs have had the chance to participate and now it is our turn for this time of joy and celebration.) TUESDAYS AT TRINITY begins on January 12 at 6:30 p.m. When you come the first week, make sure you bring a medical form with you! Bring your friends and enjoy some time in Jack s Place with Mr. Doug Culler. ATTENTION ALL 4 TH -6 TH GRADERS: The Children s Ministries Planning Board has been planning winter activities. Mark your calendars for our first event: Bowling at LuRay Lanes on Sunday, January 24 from 2-4 p.m. Details about your service project and cost will be in a January mailing. Plan to bring a friend for some awesome fellowship with your Trinity friends! GRIEFSHARE is coming to Trinity beginning January 27. GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life s most difficult experiences. You don t have to go through the grieving process alone. You ll gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life. This group will be facilitated by Diane Park for eight weeks on Wednesday nights in the Dining Room of the Church Home. ATTENTION ALL CONCERT KIDS! Hey Trinity 6 th graders! It s time to be on the move again! Mark your calendars now for Winter Jam 10 on Friday, January 29 at 7 p.m. at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland. This is one of the least expensive and most dynamic concerts, costing only $10 at the door, and including bands such as News Song, Newsboys and Third Day to name a few. Please let Dawn Forbes know if you can make it so that concert kid t- shirts will be available for those of you going for the first time! OLAF COLLEGE CHOIR is coming to Severance Hall in Cleveland on Monday, February 1 at 7:30 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets please visit user_pages/event_listings.asp LENTEN HOME STUDY GROUPS: Would you be willing to lead a weekly Lenten Bible Study starting the week of February 22 and going through the week of March 22 (5 sessions in all)? Some of the groups would be geographically oriented. Mifflin Lake, Wooster, Ashland north, Shelby, for example. Others would be leader or age oriented (gatherings of friends of the leader or in their general age category). The curriculum would be provided for you and there would be a training session toward the end of January. The meetings could be held in your home, in the home of a friend, or here at Trinity. (6 to 12 people usually) Groups of people with small children might want to meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:15 p.m. because of choirs and the automatic free baby sitting available. If you are interested, please call Pam Prezioso at the church. TRINITY TRAVELERS will be traveling to Villa Milano in Columbus on Wednesday, March 17 to be entertained by the Jimmy Dorsey Band. SERMONS ON THE WEB: You are now able to listen to sermons from our Sanctuary services and watch sermons from Praise Worship. You may watch them at your computer or download them to your mp3 device and listen as you drive, meditate or jog down the street. Take the word of God with you in your daily walk! 5

6 Sunday, Jan. 3 rd Youth News Nate Ediger Director of Ministry w/ Youth nate@trinityashland.org (w) (c) Dodgeball Tourney Get your team together for this killer event on Sunday, January 3 rd from 3 6pm at AU s Kates Gymnasium. $48 per team of 6 players when registering at the door. Spectator entry fee: $4 for adults, $2 for students. Registration forms available at Wed. Jan. 6 th WHAT s Up! All 7 th 12 th grade youth are invited to join us in the Youth Area from 3:00 5:00pm. It s an after school hang-out with a game room, gym time, game systems, homework tables, refreshments, music, and more! D-groups It s the FIRST Wednesday of the month, which means it s a D-group night! Come meet with your small group from 6:15 7:15pm and discover more about what it really means to serve others. Sunday, Jan. 10 th Catechism Catechism youth should meet in the Youth Room at 4:00pm. Our time together will be spent exploring and experiencing the Lord s Prayer. Please remember to bring $2 for dinner. As usual, we ll be done by 8:00pm. Upcoming Events As always, if financial aid is needed for the meal, please send a note with your child so we re aware of the situation and that no one goes hungry. Worship at Mount Zion High Schoolers should make plans to worship with our friends at Mount Zion in Cleveland on January 17 th. Join us as we worship the SAME God in a very DIFFERENT way! Middle School Mania 7 th & 8 th Graders will want to join us for a late-night of flat out fun on Sunday, January 17 th from 7:00 11:00pm. The game room will be jumpin Jack s Place will be rockin we ll play some crazy games in the dark and, of course, pizza and pop! Watch for details and invite your friends. Dare 2 Share Hey 9 th -12 th Graders! Make plans to join us for Blaze Conference in Columbus, Friday over Saturday February 5-6. Registration is due by Wednesday, January 20 th.
