1 Announcements March 20 & 21, 2010 The fifth mark of a disciple of Jesus is being a person who will encourage spiritual growth in others. How do we do that? We encourage our child to read the Bible. We offer to pray with a neighbor who expresses to us the pains of their life. We bring someone to Sunday School with us, or invite them to a church program. We invite others to church. We are open (not pushy but open) about our faith where we work when others question us. We pray for others. Being a disciple is not just about us...but about how we can foster in others a relationship with the Lord, whom we love and serve. - Pastor Mitchell The Lord our God makes all things new. In the first reading God promises it. In the gospel Mary anticipates it, anointing Jesus' feet with costly perfume in preparation for the day of his burial. In the second reading we recall the transformation of Saul, the persecutor, into Paul, the apostle. In baptism, God's new person (you!) rises daily from the deadly mire of trespasses and sins. Today the church remembers Thomas Cranmer, Bishop of Canterbury, martyr, who died in Cranmer's lasting achievement is contributing to and overseeing the creation of the Book of Common Prayer, which remains (in revised form) the worship book of the Anglican Communion. He was burned at the stake under Queen Mary for his support of the Protestant Reformation. TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH 508 Center Street Ashland, Ohio Phone trinity@trinityashland.org
