1 Announcements March 20 & 21, 2010 The fifth mark of a disciple of Jesus is being a person who will encourage spiritual growth in others. How do we do that? We encourage our child to read the Bible. We offer to pray with a neighbor who expresses to us the pains of their life. We bring someone to Sunday School with us, or invite them to a church program. We invite others to church. We are open (not pushy but open) about our faith where we work when others question us. We pray for others. Being a disciple is not just about us...but about how we can foster in others a relationship with the Lord, whom we love and serve. - Pastor Mitchell The Lord our God makes all things new. In the first reading God promises it. In the gospel Mary anticipates it, anointing Jesus' feet with costly perfume in preparation for the day of his burial. In the second reading we recall the transformation of Saul, the persecutor, into Paul, the apostle. In baptism, God's new person (you!) rises daily from the deadly mire of trespasses and sins. Today the church remembers Thomas Cranmer, Bishop of Canterbury, martyr, who died in Cranmer's lasting achievement is contributing to and overseeing the creation of the Book of Common Prayer, which remains (in revised form) the worship book of the Anglican Communion. The class will be taking a look at contemporary issues from a Biblical perspective. They will be meeting in the Main Office at the Sunday school hour. Please join them. WE HAD 22 YOUNG PEOPLE who completed the Early Communion class. They will receive their first communion over the next few weeks. Madalynn Conkle, Griffin Gerwig, and Dylan Tetzloff will receive communion at the 10:45 sanctuary service this weekend. Please take a moment to pray for these young people. CELEBRATE SOME MARCH GLADNESS at our ST. PATRICK S DAY SPRING FLING event for 3-year-olds to 3 rd graders this Sunday, March 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. in Luther Hall. Cost is one non-perishable food item for Associated Charities. We invite all 3-year-olds to 3 rd graders to join us for a day of fun, includ-

4 ing stories, crafts, and snacks that help us learn more about the real St. Patrick, learn more about our faith, and celebrate all the joy that spring brings! Parents of preschoolers are encouraged to stay with their little ones so that they are more comfortable during the activities. SUPPER in Jack s Place this Wednesday, March 24, serving from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Menu is chicken noodle soup, turkey sandwiches, smothered hot turkey with mashed potatoes, salad, & dessert for $4/adult and $2/ages 8 years and younger. All are welcome. ASHLAND CARE CENTER invites you to a Hawaiian Luau Fundraising Banquet on Thursday, March 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Mozelle Hall (on Ashland County Fairgrounds). Guest speaker is David Bereit, national leader of 40 Days for Life Campaign. 6 Last Event Until VBS!! Attention all 4-6th graders! We ve planned one more great event for you and your friends! Join us on Saturday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Ashland YMCA Cost: $6 plus one item to be donated to the Haiti relief effort You and your friends will have a great time fellowshipping together at the Y. We ll spend time in the pool, we ll be in the gym doing some great stuff and finish up with a pizza lunch. What a great way to spend a Saturday morning!! But here s the deal: We MUST know by April 1 if you are going to make it and if we don t have 20 kids going, we will have to cancel. 7 This Sunday, March 21 st Youth News Nate Ediger (Dir. of Ministry w/ Youth) or The Ship High Schoolers meet in the Youth Room from 6:00 8:00pm for a great night of fellowship, food, and the next session in our series, Big Q s: What Happens After Death? We ve had two incredible sessions talking about issues facing teens and the problem of evil so this will be a great follow-up! This Wed. March 24 th WHAT s Up! 7 th 12 th grade youth are invited to join us for a SPECIAL SESSION WHAT s UP! We ll meet in the youth room after school, as usual. Then, at 3:30 we ll head to Luray Lanes for an hour of bowling. We ll return to the youth room by 5:00pm. Please bring $2.00 for the fun! Next Sunday, March 28 th No Youth Activities this Sunday Enjoy your first weekend of Spring Break and get Regis tered to be part of Serveashland on Wednesday the 31 st Friday the 2 nd! Holy Week Musical We encourage all youth and their families to see this musical, written by Trinity s own Marty Kral. The musical will be performed in Jack s Place at 7:00pm on March 28 th. Upcoming Special Events Serveashland We encourage all 7 th 12 th graders to join us for service opportunities over spring break. We ll partner with FUMC, Christ UMC and Park Street as we did serving various places throughout the community on Wednesday March 31 and Thursday April 1 from 9:00 12:30.
