1 Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Fr. Tony O Neill, Pastor Monthly Mail-Out Bulletin 2385 Commerce Blvd. Mound, MN ourladyofthelake.com Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe November 20 th, 2016 giving thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in light. - Colossians 1:12 Volume CI Grace Family Center Mass with Archbishop Hebda and Reception Saturday, December 3 rd Archbishop Hebda will be at Our Lady of the Lake to celebrate the 5:00pm Mass. Prior to the Mass, Archbishop Hebda will bless the Grace Family Center. Space will be limited at the blessing. Please join us for Mass followed by a reception and program in the PACE Center. Refreshments and hors d oeuvres will be provided by the Council of Catholic Women and the Knights of Columbus. Dear Brothers and Sisters, This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. This marks the last Sunday of the liturgical year. We celebrate the reality that Jesus Christ has dominion over everything; that there is nothing and no one more powerful than Him. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. The kind of king we have is expressed by Blessed John Paul who says; The King we contemplate today is in fact the Good Shepherd, who gives His life for His sheep. His kingship does not imply domination, but service. Our king desires to have us know Him in a deep and profound way and experience his grace and love in our lives. This weekend we will also focus on the financial stewardship of the parish. Dear Brothers and Sisters, As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God s varied grace. 1 Peter 4:10 I am consistently moved by the faith and dedication that exists here in our parish. We have a treasure here at Our Lady of the Lake, and God has blessed us mightily. At the very heart of what we are doing is walking together into deeper faith and community. We are about the work of building a community of Faith and Love. In His ministry, Jesus fulfills Scripture where it says; Zeal for your house consumes me. Each one of us is called to be zealous for the work of building the kingdom - that happens by all of us being actively involved in serving God with our Time, Talent, and Treasure. Some weeks ago, we had a Ministry Fair and I encouraged all of you to consider what ministries you felt inspired to contribute to. I want to thank you all for your generosity to the parish, and I would like to ask all of you now to consider your financial contributions. Each household should have received a letter recently regarding financial giving. Please take a look at the Giving Steps and consider if you might be able to take one step up. This will allow us to not simply maintain our current ministries and programs, but to expand and grow them. May God continue to lead us and guide us as we seek to build His kingdom. God bless, Fr. Tony

Please do so as soon as possible. Thank you. Keeping Advent is counter-culture. Already there s Christmas décor wherever we look because preparations and sales need to be made. Then there is the Christian interpretation of the season hold back! We re not celebrating until Dec. 25 th. The challenge for us is to keep an inner peace and prayerful expectation in the midst of the flurry: Comfort my people and quiet her fear; Tell her the time of salvation draws near. -Based on Isaiah 40 Catholic calendars for 2017 are available by the Church Entrances. Please feel free to take one home with you! Special thanks to Huber Funeral Homes for their kind sponsorship of the calendar. LIGHT FOR THE WEEK The majority of the Gospels proclaimed at Sunday Masses this past Church year were from the Gospel of Luke. He is known as the Gospel of Prayer and Praise, the Gospel of the Holy Spirit, the Gospel of Women, the Universal Gospel, and the Gospel of the Gentiles. Luke wrote the most incredible story humankind has known. This week is the finale: We celebrate Christ our King, the King of our lives. We pray for those in need. May the Lord comfort them in their time of sickness and bless those who care for them. Please keep the following individuals in your prayers: Chris A., Bob Blake, Catherine Border, Tim Daly, Dan Entinger, Kathy Gnitka, Marilyn Nelson, Andra Olson, Lee Olson, Bobby Reil, and Adam Richardt We pray for those in the Military: Travis B., Nicholas J., and Darrell V. Parish Nurse After 7 years of serving as Parish Nurse for OLL, I have decided to retire from this position to pursue other activities. Stacy Hoh and Annette Parker are stepping up to fill this position at the end of November. What does a parish nurse do and not do? We do not replace your personal physician or health care provider. We assess the health care needs of the parish by visiting parishioners, providing information and referrals to other providers, advocating for healthy lifestyles, and being present with prayer and comfort in times of crisis and celebration. I plan to continue my involvement with this program to assist in this transition. Thank you for allowing me to serve you these past years. --Marcia Jerdee If you have concerns about yourself or someone you love, please contact Carla LaBore at x145 or clabore@ourladyofthelake.com. OLL Pictorial Directory Having your family home for Thanksgiving gives you a perfect opportunity to have your family portrait taken for the OLL Pictorial Directory. We have added sessions on: Friday, Nov. 25 th, from 12:45-3:45pm and Saturday, Nov. 26 th, from 9:30-12:15pm. Photos at Lake Minnetonka Shores will be taken on: Sunday, Nov. 27 th, from 9:00am - 3:00pm. Time is limited, sessions are filling up fast! Please register for your session at our website - ourladyofthelake.com - or call Judy Schmeling at for assistance or questions. Professional portraits are GREAT Christmas gifts! Happy Thanksgiving from Fr. Tony and the OLL Staff! 3
