Combo plates are $7.00, raffle tickets are $1.00 each; with a lot of great raffle prizes! Our menu consists of a BBQ Combo: choice of 2 pork skewers or teriyaki marinated chicken, steamed rice, and macaroni salad OR a taco plate, 2 BIG carnitas tacos or 2 BIG chicken tacos, rice, and beans. A la carte items, drinks, and ice cream are also available. We hope to see you there!! In appreciation Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Cardinal McIntyre second collection on May 6th & 7th. Our parish was able to collect a total of $1,774. Funds collected will be used to help individuals and families during emergency situations. As we study the Book of Exodus please join our bible study this coming Wednesday May 24 th 2017 and watch the movie The Ten Commandments. After the movie there will be a discussion and reflection. Bring a friend and be on time. Movie starts at exactly 7 PM here in the church. We look forward to seeing you. 2 Fireworks Stand Volunteers Needed It is almost that time again the past several years our parish has done a great job in maintaining the Fireworks stand. This year we will be selling fireworks from Friday, June 30th Tuesday, July 4 th. We need many volunteers to have a successful sales program. Check your calendar for your availability. Detailed information on sign-ups and sales will be provided in the near future. This is a wonderful and fun opportunity for parents to start earning required volunteer hours for our school. We will also need assistance with setting up the booth the week of June 26th and returning merchandise on July 5 th. A truck may be needed for return of our merchandise on July 5th. Place a hold on your calendar! Thank You Guadalupanos Boutique Sale Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Guadalupanos boutique and tamale sale last weekend. Shoppers picked up delicious tamales and great bargains. The Guadalupanos were able to raise a total $ Thank you again for your continued support! The Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord is transferred to Sunday, May 28th and will be observed at all Sunday masses. Safeguard the Children Training Sessions Our Safeguard the Children committee is offering the following to ensure our parishioners have the opportunity to be VIRTUS trained and fingerprinted: Sunday, June 25, 11 AM VIRTUS Recertification **This training is only for those who have already taken Protecting God s Children class within the last four years and their certification is about to expire or has expired.** Saturday, September 9, 10 AM VIRTUS Protecting God s Children Saturday, October 14, 2017 Fingerprinting Classes are offered throughout the year at Archdiocese parishes. To register for any of the classes mentioned, please follow these directions: 1. Go to: Virtus.org 2. Click registration 3. Click begin the registration process 4. 3 Religious Education Corner This weekend our Parish community is having a boundless joy with those families of the First Holy Communion children. Their walk with Christ is one of the most important relationships they will have in their lifetime, and we are happy to be part of it. Congratulations and best wishes to them! May God in all His goodness bless this special day, and may they always keep the memory of their First Holy Communion day and let it and their faith be a guide. At the same time, we encourage you to keep in prayer all the confirmation candidates who are going to be confirmed by Archbishop Jose H. Gomez next Sunday May 28 at 5:00 PM here at STA. This spiritual journey does not end at their confirmation, it s just the beginning, they will be members of God s army and they shall join the fight for righteousness and against sin. The Future may bring challenges and hard times but God s grace and the Holy Spirit will strengthen and comfort them. The sacrament of confirmation is a celebration of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, who is already present in our lives. It is a very special ministry at STA, a privileged journey that include catechists, sponsors and parents. We'd like to thank and acknowledge our catechists, they are united in their task of making God's love real and active in the lives of our children. May the Spirit of God strengthen all these catechist called by God to serve and proclaim the message of Jesus Christ to our children. Also we are glad to inform you that registrations for the upcoming catechetical year including First Holy Communion preparation and Confirmation program will begin on Saturday, July 15. 5 SAFEGUARD THE CHILDREN DID YOU KNOW? Avoiding gossip Our natural inclination is to discuss concerns and problems with the people in our lives, but it can be easy for these discussions to slip into gossip. When gossip gets out of hand, it can damage reputations and create division and fear, without any discussion of how to resolve the problem. Teaching your children to avoid gossip and focus on truth starts at home as always, parents lead by example. Try not to gossip about rumors or other people, and teach your children to seek solutions when there is a problem rather than just talking about it.
